A great character who is calm and collected til someone actually, through luck, figured him out.
Cold, calculating, and an asshole,

but when he does it so well, and is so intimidating, what's not to like?

Manfred is the best prosecutor I have ever faced (not that I've had a go against :godot: or :kyouya: yet). He seems to be way better at his job than any of the others, and I love the way he intimidates everybody with his presence (especially :udgy:) .

I just wish we could have had one more case against him, possibly playing as either :grossburg: or :youngmia: (he'd have to win though, as AA states that he was undefeated until :phoenix: beat him in 1-4).

Manfred von Karma is without a doubt my favorite "in your face" villain, though I also love his daughter. So evil and yet so cool! But more than anything else, I can't get enough of this spirte:

Image

That's what I'm talkin' about!

Also, I agree that Christopher Lloyd would make a good Manfred. If Raul Julia could play Bison, then Christopher Lloyd must play Manfred von Karma. :karma:

I really love cool designed villains - I really have a weakness for them and in many games I want them to win rather than the heroes :karma:

And Manfred von Karma is a cool designed villain INDEED!
I mean, seriously ... He's totally evil, crafty, kinda oldschool, chic, sneaky and psycho.

He ruined the lives of many people ...
Brought innocent people in jail or even worse ...
He destroyed the beliefs of a little boy and gave him many really bad traumas ...
He murdered his rival ...
He taserd a lawyer and his assistant just to make sure that he could escape ...
He stole and manipulated many important evidences ...
He also manipulated the testimonies of many witnesses ...

And you discover all this in just ONE case.
WHAT MORE DO I HAVE TO SAY?!

Von Karma is such an amazing villain, I love him. Whenever I'm asked to list favorite video game villains, I always mention him first (along with Ganondorf). I enjoy how much turmoil he can cause, even from prison, all you have to do is mention him, and suddenly the whole atmosphere of the conversation you're having changes.

I do find it really entertaining that Franziska seems to refer to him as if he were dead rather than in prison. It makes me laugh. In fact, her and Edgeworth's attitudes regarding von Karma when he's brought up in general conversation is great. For example in JFA Edgeworth says something like "He was my mentor and I still respect him." At that moment, I wanted nothing more than for von Karma to come out from behind a corner and be like "What a nice sentiment, Mr. Edgeworth," and scare everyone senseless.

Another bit of the game that I found quite amusing in the context of von Karma was case 4 in T&T. As it was Edgeworth's first case, I was so sure that both Manfred and Franziska von Karma were in the stands at the trial watching Edgeworth make his courtroom debut. So much of me wanted him to lose just so I could see 13 year old Franziska walk up to him, beat him savagely, rip off his cravat and step on it.

however depressing it is that there are only two pages worth of us, it's comforting to see that there are other Manfred fans out there. I didn't like von Karma when I first played the game; I constantly ridiculed the way his objections sounded. If there were a Lucifer of video games, he would have that voice. After time, though, he grew into my favorite character. Even though he only has a part in one case, he manages to work his way into the status of "main character," being terrifying as hell while he does it. Plus, he's fun to draw~ My username comes from a drawing I did of him where I accidentally made the back of his hair look like a duck.

So yeah. Go Manfred and stuff~

In tribute of the greatest villain AND greatest prosecutor ever, I present some awesome Manfred Von Karma quotes:

:karma: : I set my ATM card's number to "0001" because I'm number one!

:karma: This photo is worth a thousand words... and they all read "guilty"!

:karma: : 600,000 volts will course through your body like a dog touching an electric fence.
:phoenix: : Six hundred thous...!?
:karma: : Oh, don't worry. People don't die from it, usually.

Yes I know, that's not nearly enough to express his awesomeness. But oh well, I tried.

LOL these are awsome quotes ^^

If I lived in the PW universe i would definetly want to be a von Karma. One the reasons is to be related to Manfred. And Manfred is damn fun to imagine doing things that are totally out of character for him.

Can anyone imagine Baby!Manfred?

I believe Phoenix refers to Manfred being dead in 3-5. He probably died in prison or was executed sometime during the course of the 3rd game.

I must say, out of all the villains in the AA series, Manfred Von Karma has always been my favorite. I can say he is my favorite since I've played through all the AA games to date and haven't found any who I enjoy as much as him. He is such a bastard and basically runs the court and doesn't take shit. He just makes your job really hard on you in the game and
Spoiler:
shocks the crap out of you for gathering a certain piece of evidence
. I'm not gay for Manfred Von Karma or anything, but he is just freaking awesome! Cheers to the best villain in the AA series!

To add to this, it's heavily implied that he's dead in Turnabout Big Top where Franziska and Phoenix run into one another outside Acro and Moe's rooms.
Spoiler:
IIRC, Phoenix says something about Franziska wanting revenge for what happened to her father, and Franny quite coldly says he's gone and he's not coming back and that, no, it's all about what happened to Miles.

Back to the original conversation, I'm joining in on the Manfred!love. He's like Lucius Malfoy but smarter and more prosecutory, and he's infinitely fascinating and complex. The relationship between him and BOTH Franziska and Miles is intriguing as anything, particularly when you look at Bratworth and his fashion sense and mannerisms, and
Spoiler:
Franziska's harshness towards Miles in court in 3-5-- the comments about him resembling a spoilt child, and the "If you want to hang yourself, go ahead." All I can say to that is OMG, bitter sibling with ISSUES
.

And as I've seen others say, he's scary. That first time you hear him go, "Objection!"... damn. Anyone else jump and go, "WTF was that?!"

You know what makes Manfred von Karma even more awesome?

IIRC, when he got that penalty, Grossberg said he still won the case. But Manfred von Karma said everything was a blank until he found himself in the evidence room.

Therefore, Manfred von Karma...

can prosecute IN HIS SLEEP.

I took this from have-a-sum-pudding on deviantART.

Manfred von Karma's Step-by-Step Guide to Being a Psychotic Dick

1. Become the greatest prosecutor the world has ever known.
2. Maintain a perfect record for 25 years.
3. Get caught presenting forged evidence in court by uppity defense attorney.
4. Stroll by courthouse elevator after an earthquake and get shot by aforementioned defense attorney's 9 year old son.
5. Let out soul-shattering scream that will haunt said boy's nightmares for years to come.
6. Open elevator doors and see defense attorney lying unconcious.
7. Bust a cap up his ass.
8. Take 6 month vacation while waiting for gunshot wound to heal.
9. Adopt defense attorney's now-orphaned son.
10. Raise him to be a fellow prosecuting asshole.
11. Set up elaborate plan and have him framed for murder.
12. Take role of prosecutor for his case to make sure he fries.
13. Steal condeming evidence from his defense attourney be tazering him and his assistant.
14. Get caught anyways.
15. Bang head against wall repeatedly.

Congrats! You are officially a psychotic dick!

Hes insane but in a cool way.

In terms of style its more like a Brute force gorrilla that uses its brute power to smash opposition.

Yah, Von Karma is pretty damn good looking. I mean, at 65 you'd expect people's face to just sag away but he managed to retain that grand imposing look. He's a pretty awesome villain too, I mean what says intimidating better than winning every trial for forty years? Great intelligence and motive, the thing though is that I'm also kind of a perfectionist myself and Manfred makes me feel like I can end up as a villain as well. ^_^;
