I think that the majority of the game would've stayed the same. Case 1-5 would change dramatically, as the magatama would've seen right through Lana's lies, and while Phoenix already knew/thought that Lana didn't do it, he would have at least uncovered the truth, or maybe even found
to be a suspect earlier on in the case. The other cases would've changed a bit too, but things still followed the same formula: talk to someone, gather evidence, present evidence to aforementioned someones.

That's a good question, but I think the magatama only works when the person is hiding something. So I don't think it would have reacted, since Edgeworth couldn't have been hiding something he didn't know.
