Godot's "Badass Factor" is but a mere archetype. The whole "I've come back from the dead to get revenge" thing's been overused in different genres. It's an archetype to me, because it involves three things which recur:
1. A Disguise and a New Name:
This is true for Godot, Scar, Master Simoun, and the Count of Monte Cristo. All of them were once normal, well-meaning (Generally, anyway.) people, until a certain unfortunate event caused them to throw away their former selves and gave rise to their badass aliases.
2. The Unfortunate Event:
Almost every badass character has a dark past which leads to their transformation. Souryuu was poisoned; Scar's brother was killed during the Ishbaal Massacre; and Crysostom and Dantes were incarcerated. These events caused them to fill in their lack of hatred, (Lawl, Itachi.) and completed their transformations.
3. Forlorn Lover (Not applicable to Scar):
This one applies only to Godot, Master Simoun, and the Count of Monte Cristo. All of them had a forlorn lover which acted as a reactant (Or a catalyst...) to their revenge-seeking schemes, specifically, Chihiro (Mia), Maria, and Mercedes. (Lawl, they all start with "M", too.) This doesn't apply to Scar, as it was his brother that was killed.
... Yeah, my point being? Godot may be badass, true, but it's not even really an original form of badass, either, and that doesn't make his personality as dynamic. He's fine enough as a prick, though. :/
