Moved From "Ace Attorney Awards"

My choice for the most important character in the Ace Attorney Awards spiked much debate on the subject. i decided to make a new thread for that purpose. here is my argument.
Spoiler: 1-4
I believe it is Gregory Edgeworth. Because of him, Miles wanted to get into law. That caused him to stick up for Phoenix, which in turn caused Phoenix to start thinking about going into law. After DL-6, Miles decided to be a Prosecutor instead. Also, after Gregory told Misty Fey the wrong person of who killed him, Misty was shunned from society which made Mia want to go into law. Mia defending Phoenix was just fate waiting to happen. DL-6 was the cause of everything

I agree with you. There are a lot of people who contributed to DL-6 and Kurain getting socially shunned. However, since Gregory also partly caused Phoenix to become a lawyer, he's probably most important.

If the question is, "without which character would the events of PW never, ever happen?" I would say it's Phoenix Wright.

People say it's von Karma, but... If Gregory Edgeworth hadn't stood up to him and pointed out the one flaw that got put on the records, von Karma wouldn't have gone crazy and shot him.

Every character is as important as the next.
The same storyline wouldn't exist even if you take apart a minor character.

The most important character is obviously Phoenix, since his story is the one the AA series revolves around.

Hmm...I think the most important character to the story in the context of the game would be Phoenix, since he's the one that we follow through the actual game's events.

Spoiler: 1-4
However, I agree that Gregory Edgeworth is the most influential character to the story, for the reasons already stated. He put a dent in von Karma's record and then got killed in retaliation, causing the dominos for both to Edgeworth and Fey storylines to fall.

Either that or Manfred von Karma for being a cheating perfectionist and using fake evidence in the first place. Then it might be argued that it was whoever taught von Karma as he did to Edgeworth...and the chain keeps going back and back.

I'd say Grossberg, what? don't look at me like that.
Think about it, No Grossberg, no Mia, no Godot, Phoenix would be in Jail, etc.

From a game standpoint, Phoenix, obviously.

From an internal perspective, I'd say...hmm...

I'd have to agree that it's Greg. Without him, there would be no Edgeworth, and thus Phoenix would probably not be a lawyer. Redd White would still be at large, along with (probably) most of the criminals of the games.

I'm pretty sure a guy who forges and manipulates evidence and witnesses, and sends countless people to their deaths just to keep a 0 in his loss record, is a few tacos short of a combo platter anyway. Edgeworth Sr. didn't make von Karma crazy. :yuusaku:

Uh...why?

Sure he killed 2 people, but what does that do to the storyline?

I say it's Larry.

Without him, Edgy's money wouldn't have ever been stolen, so Phoenix wouldn't have had to have been defended. Therefore, Edgy and Phoenix would never become BFFs in the first place.

Since Phoenix never would've known Edgy too well, he wouldn't care about him leaving (so he probably wouldn't become a lawyer).

Life would've gone on, Edgy would be dead (due to the death penalty), and Pearl would become the master of Kurain village.

And Phoenix wouldn't have cared in the least. =|

Because Gant is ALWAYS important.

In a more on topic note: I consider every recurring character and every prosecutor as important/main.

I'd say everybody's parents.
Without them there wouldn't have been any of the charaters to start off with o:
And Capcom, cause without them there would be no game at all!

On a more serious note, I actually kinda think Redd White for a second.
Spoiler: 1-2, not that spoilery though I think...
He killed Mia and because of that Phoenix defended Maya and then they became friends thus Maya becoming a main character.
Also if Mia was alive, the story would be a whole lot different. In fact the story would be whole lot duller if you ask me.
Spoiler: 3-4 + 3-5
If Mia didn't die, Diego wouldn't have become Godot thus not prosecuting against Phoenix. Heck he would be happy and there would be no 3-5 at all! considering he killed Maya's mother to protect Maya whom was Mia's sister instead of doing the smart thing to tell Pearl not to do it for what was going to happen.

I also agree about Larry being important too, I'll admit I wouldn't have thought of that.

The idea that it's Larry is really epic in a way. Think; the only one who's not a lawyer, arguably the failure of the trio is the most important character to make it all happen. So many defendants owe their lives to this model-chasing, career-insecure-overly-emotional foolish fool's fool who fools foolish fools into a foolish fool's foolish fool errand.

> I also love the idea, but I still think that every character is essential to the storyline. It would be interesting, though, to ask ourselves who is the least important character, who would less change the plot than the others if he just didn't exist? I'd say Penny Nichols, since I'm pretty sure Phoenix or Mia could have found another way to make Cody talk (possibly involving Mia's breasts).

Yes, Nichols. Possibly Hickfield, assuming he's not the actual director.

Ooh that is a really good point!!!!

At first I was like... Phoenix is the most important! Then I read the first post here and thought yeah actually.. Gregory Edgeworth!

But this makes more sense!!!

Actually, discussing the least important character would probably less controversial, but there would be a ton of people who love the character you are saying is un-important. Whatever, I thought this thread was dead anyway. Do whatever.
