Doesn't Terry Fawles mean Teary Falls? Such as his life was ruined in a way that would bring a tear to most people? ^_^.

His name is Terry not Teary. And technically he took the fall for Dahlia (twice), so it would make more sense to call him that. Plus I didn't really cry for him at the end :lana: Even if we found him innocent he would go to jail again for pedophilia and (maybe) statutory rape.

Hahahahha, I can't believe I didn't catch Dustin Prints. Or Winston Payne. Well, the Payne I got, but not "Winced in." Or Pal Meraktis.

Viola Cadaverini... hmm... a viola is an instrument, and isn't she kind of "getting played" by Furio Tigre? And someone once said the meaning of "Cadaverini" is cadaver...a corpse.

This isn't so accurate, but,

Machi Tobaye

During 'Tobaye-Tobaye', which takes place on the 10th night of every Ramadan month, children organise themselves in small groups of friends and go from compound to compound to wish people a happy end to the fasting day.

For the event, one child (pictured) has been carefully decorated with white clay, dressed with old mats, calabashes, worn out shoes, tiny cans, and crowned with feathers (forming a wing).

It's actually a reference to a specific character from Arthurian stories - Morgan le Fay, King Arthur's half sister, sometimes identified as the mother of his illegitimate son Mordred (originally the son of another of Arthur and Morgan's sisters, but, economy of characters comes into play eventually).

The connection between the two Morgans doesn't end with the name, though! Both women are mystics, who betray their much more prominent younger siblings (King Arthur and Mystic Misty, Master of Kurain). WHY Morgan le Fay betrays Arthur changes from version to version, but the versions where she's Mordred's mother, it's frequently because she wants her son to take the throne - which, being illegitimate, he's not going to under normal circumstances. In some versions (such as Le Mort d'Arthur, where she is not Mordred's mother) they eventually reconcile, but in others, the enmity continues until death (or even beyond).

It's a very fitting name.

:pealshock: -(Does that make me Mordred?)

It is a diminutive of Richard, but it is also slang for a detective - typically not a police detective, that I've seen, but you'll see references to 'private dicks' or 'hotel dicks'.

You know, breaking it up like that, another aspect - that they probably weren't thinking of, since he's a very minor character, who doesn't even get a name until after the case is solved - strikes me.

Ada is the name of a programming language, which is named for Ada Lovelace, an early computer programmer. (Hmm...I think they should have named Lisa 'Ada Mada' instead of wasting such a good potential reference on a throwaway character, who's the wrong sex to boot. <_<) :keiko:

Clearing up on three of the names:

Viola Cadaverini: The name Viola relates itself closely to the Violin. Cadaverini = the word "cadáver" in spanish and italian = dead body.

Diego Armando: From the famous soccer player, Diego Armando Maradona. The fact that the translators decided to use that name for their ending syllables matching his character name has nothing to do with him being Godot -- his japanese name was Kaminogi Souryuu and he's still Godot over there.

Elise Deaxunim: Based on french pronunciation, Deaux-nim = "done in" = killed.
If videogames make murderers, then guns kill people and spoons made Rosie O'Donnell fat.

"Andrews" is an anagram of "Answered".

And "Kristoph" means "Killer".
Moo.

Wrong. Very wrong. Proof? Count the amount of letters in each word. "Andrews" is missing an E to match up with "answered".

Wrong again. Kristoph is the german version of the english name Christopher, which means "bearer of the Christ", a religion-related name. In no way does it mean killer.

I thought the name Iris was given due to the fact that she has large irises (eyes)~

I finished 'Farewell, My Turnabout' again today. Say, could this work?:

Shelly de Killer = 'Surely, the killer.' - ?

I dunno. It popped in my head while I was cross-examining him. xD

Hm, perhaps! Quite an astute observation.

Even more simply, "thalassa" is the greek word for "sea".
