That is rather disappointing as some of that stuff was rather fun to read, but it doesn't really change much. After all, unless even the relationships between characters are monitored by the mods on the RP site, the change is just based on the whims of the RPers in question (And the last time I glanced at it, I seem to recall that they were restructuring a bit. If the RPers in question were changed, then that would explain it). And even if that is controlled by those in charge of the RP, then it's just the mods whims that decided it. It's not as though anyone official is involved in it... at least to my knowledge it's just a fan RP. Phoenix/Iris shall live forever in the hearts of fans. :D

If it makes you feel a bit better have art. This too. And as a bonus, a picture of Iris in a school uniform because she looks pretty. <3 The source for the last picture is here.

My problem is that I believe that Phoenix really did fall in love with Iris during those six months and I think that Romeo's feelings were far more shallow. Romeo's flakiness always makes it hard for me to take him serious. He wanted to love someone with that kind of feeling, but it didn't seem to matter to him which girl it was. If Rosaline didn't want him, then Juliet worked. Recall that they weren't permitted to really spend any time together because of their family situation, so they couldn't really get to know each other, while Phoenix and Iris had plenty of time to know one another and really fall in love (we are told that they spent a great deal of time together while they dated). I'm not much a believer in love at first sight. Attraction at first sight, yes, but real love? No. Now love often starts with attraction, as it appears to have done in Phoenix's and Iris's case, but you need to spend time with someone so that love has a chance to grow. Young Phoenix and Romeo do share a naivity and a tendency to idealize their love interest, but I've always read Phoenix's feelings as very real (he was, after all, nowhere near over her even five years later) and, unless you were careful to make Phoenix seem a bit less shallow, I think it demeans their feelings for each other some. Anyway, I'm over thinking this, so I'll stop now.

I promise nothing, but I was just able to knock off at least the start of a Valentine's Day drabble and, so far, I don't hate it which is rare for me. Hopefully, I'll be able to finish it and get it ready by Valentine's. And hopefully, I won't be alone in this. That would make me sad. *hint, hint :P*

You're smart to not overload yourself. I know from experience that it can be hard to balance multiple writing projects and real life. The only exception I've found to that is that sometimes working on multiple stories can help ease writer's block some because when you're stuck on one fic, you can always switch to the other. Although that trick certainly doesn't always work. ~~Still, you should join me in writing something for Valentine's though. <_<~~

On a side note, I insist that you all read this fic. I really enjoyed it. :)

As for why people dislike the pairing, who knows. Everyone has different tastes. I imagine that some people may simply not like Iris and others just have other pairings that better fit their personal preferences. It does make me a bit sad that this pairing doesn't get the love it deserves.

Hey everyone!

I was actually thinking of having people request het pairings for me to do for Valentine's Day Drabbles (or something like that...) But I was also maybe thinking of just doing that for my favorite pairings (which of course, Nick/Iris is one of!). Ech, I have suddenly many ideas for new fanfics, not just Iris/Nick (one is an AU with Fran/Miles that's kinda... interesting). Not to mention a huge fanfic project involving over twelve pairings...

Yeah, I should probably finish that Manfred focus, huh. :yuusaku:

Anyway, I think I'd love to participate in that little Valentine's day project :edgy:

The reasons I've seen people hate Iris/Nick is mostly because they don't like Iris. Some say she's too sweet or not developed very well (like, she's two-dimensional). I honestly disagree with this; I think she's one of the most developed characters for have only been in one game. Or, really, one case. I dunno, but that's just me.

I definitely agree she is very well developed for just being in one case, not to mention that the "last case" charachters are usually very well developed. Everyone remembers Manfred, Gant, Lana, Marshall, Enguarde, Dekiller, and Vera, and nobody ever calls them "underdeveloped", even though they were in only one case each.

I too would also like to know what people find fault with Iris in, so we can discuss it here and explain it away form their meanieness..

One thing I can think of is "unrealistic" because of her kindness. I would have agreed with that before I met my GF, who is perhaps the kindest, nicest person ON EARTH despite having a not-so-nice time growing up. Every day for the past 2 years I thank god I found her. Heh, maybe that's another reason I like P x I ,as she reminds me of her.

The're is one thing though. The fact Phoenix and Maya AREN'T together in AJ. If they were i don't think Phoenix would say "some kid" sends him those DVD's, it'd be "my girl" or "other half". And Trucy wouldn't ask him when she will get a new mommy.

I've seen it and the theory's flawed. If I wasn't completely burned out then I might join in the debate and cut it down, but I'm so tired of debating the pairing and I just don't have the time or energy to get into a long drawn out debate. So don't worry about it and be happy. Ship what you wish and be satisfied. :)

Honestly, I don't wish to see this thread devolve into an Iris vs. Maya debate (or more specifically I'm concerned about Maya bashing). The Phoenix/Maya thread has devolved to character assassination (of Iris) and it annoys me immensely. I don't wish to see us stoop to that level. This thread is to celebrate and discuss the pairing. We can, of course, discuss both positives and flaws of the P/I pairing, but let's please keep Iris vs. Maya and any pairing/ character bashing out of this thread (I'm not saying that we've gone there yet. I'm just being cautious). My opinion on that is that we just don't need to go there. Certainly, if there is any things that you guys want to discuss, then please bring it up. A good discussion is always fun. It doesn't have to be a positive point. "So and so brought up this negative point against the pairing. What do you guys think?" Let's please just steer away from Maya sucks so Phoenix should be with Iris. I may prefer Phoenix/Iris, but that doesn't mean that Maya is a bad character nor does she have to be. Anyway, I'm sorry about the rant. If I'm out of line then please tell me and I'll be quiet.

I'm always amazed when people say that Iris is underdeveloped. Did they play the final case? With her relationships to Dahlia and Phoenix as well as her fully explained back story, she gets more development then most clients (well, clients that aren't main characters like Edgeworth and Maya. They have more because they have three games. Iris has one case). We do understand quite a bit about Iris. Certainly, I wish that she had been given more screen time so that they could have done more with her (I was a bit disappointed by the fact that they didn't try to do more with her because she has so much potential). But yeah, I've heard that and don't get it.

And yay, Caelestis! I'm happy to hear that I won't be alone in doing this Valentine's idea. I can't wait to read it. ^_^

Wow, that's really a shame that the P/M thread would be about bashing Iris.(I haven`t been to it yet)

I like P /M too, and it's my second favorite pairing. I've always maintained that if for whatever reason, they could not get together, I'd want him to be with maya.

Hating Iris for "getting in the way" seems like something a jealous person would say..

IIRC, I don`t think any of us here HATE Maya, the way you say they do Iris.

This is one of the reasons I wish for either a PW Manga or Anime that retells the cases while adding new information. I would love to see these stories in any new medium.

They'd give us a new perspective on the series, and I think it would be the only case where I would look forward to original "fillers", to see what new cases would take place.

For other series, I've seen a disturbing trend in some fans(not all) attributing immense hate to extremely nice charachters(not mary sues, which are "perfect" charachters and are all-powerful), male or female, and frankly I hate it.

IIRC, the only two who don`t suffer this bashing are Tohru from Fruits Basket and (I think) Nia from Gurren Lagann.

BTW, MIa_Fey what is the valentine project again? Every time I try to load Page 27 it gets all wonky because of all the spoiler tags and images constantly making the page longer. :grey:

And, yeah. It's always sad when it turns to tearing a character down to build another one up. It's just so wrong and unnecessary. This certainly isn't the only time or fandom that I've seen it happen in sadly and it always upsets me when I see it.

Walls of text on what? The pairing? I've done that in the past and honestly I don't have the spare time right now to devote that much energy to a pairing or a game. This thread has a lot of pages of us all discussing the pairing which you may wish to read and if you go here you'll see a wiki page written by the people in this thread with plenty of evidence. :) If you have a particular point that you'd like to discuss then please bring it up. We could use a good discussion and I write better if I have a topic rather then just being asked to write on the pairing in general terms. Besides, it's better when we discuss things rather then asking one person to rant. There are plenty smarter people then me around here and I'd like to encourage more people to post more often. Why don't you tell me what you think? We can start the discussion with that. I'd like to hear it.

Hopefully, my Valentine's present to all of you will be posted near Valentine's Day (On the day itself if I can manage it. I tend to get impatient). It's so very corny. I hope that it'll be okay. I mixed the Valentine's idea with one of the earlier prompts because it amused me and that's all I'll say about it for now. I don't want to ruin the surprise. :)

Is anyone else participating? I'd love to find a bunch of surprises in this thread on Valentine's. It'll get me into the spirit of that day. :)

I'm most likely going to make some random Valentine's Day one-shots with all of my OTP's. I'm going to put them in spoiler form on the first page, hopefully, so that those who adore Nick/Iris but aren't keen on Fran/Miles can still read it without having to scroll through long strands of text.

Finally caught up...whew! I have to say...Johnny Rotan, that angel Iris pic made my day. I'd just weathered an anti-Iris tornado in the Prosecutor's Lobby, so that pic had great healing power for me. We are kindred spirits in more ways than one, pardner. :jake:

Ugh... I can't even bring myself to go look. It has not been a good day and I hate character/ pairing bashing so much. I'd probably tell them all precisely how pissed all that crap makes me and that is unlikely to end well, so I refuse to look. I swear that I see more and more character/ pairing bashing these days. Mine might be posted a bit early depending on my mood. It's very silly and cheesy, but I'm hoping that you guys will like it even if it is a bit silly. I won't claim that it's anything special because it's me at my corniest, but hopefully it'll satisfy. I kind of like it, although I have no idea why. O_o Okay, I'll stop talking about myself now.

By the way, since so far only writers are chiming in (thank you to all those who have decided to contribute by the way ^_^), I wanted to make it clear that this is not exclusive to writers. Because character/ pairing bashing is clearly spreading like wildfire now and it makes me very sad. You know, I really don't ask much. I don't ask people to agree with my preferences, but I do ask that they show me the same respect that I show them. I never bash P/E even though I don't like it (It has nothing to do with it being a gay pairing. Even if one of them was a woman, I'd still say that they were simply close friends. I've never had any issue with same sex pairings that I felt had a strong basis or were canon (off the top of my head, there are two fictional same-sex couples that I think are adorable- one is from a book series and the other is from an anime. I know that there are more that I liked, but those are the ones that come to mind... and yes, I just did use parentheses within parentheses, so there :P), but I just don't see it with Phoenix and Edgeworth). Still, I certainly don't stoop to character or pairing bashing simply because I don't like the pairing. -_- *Takes deep breath.*

I don't know why the pairing gets so little respect, although I have a couple guesses. They aren't complimentary to those people who are out there bashing the pairing, so I'll keep my thoughts to myself. Okay, I'm done now.[/rant]

That is rather disappointing as some of that stuff was rather fun to read, but it doesn't really change much. After all, unless even the relationships between characters are monitored by the mods on the RP site, the change is just based on the whims of the RPers in question (And the last time I glanced at it, I seem to recall that they were restructuring a bit. If the RPers in question were changed, then that would explain it). And even if that is controlled by those in charge of the RP, then it's just the mods whims that decided it. It's not as though anyone official is involved in it... at least to my knowledge it's just a fan RP. Phoenix/Iris shall live forever in the hearts of fans. :D

As it happens, I'm one of the mods of the RPing community. Croik is the other. :godot:

I happen to be the person who played (and still plays) Phoenix. The person who played (and is still playing) Iris is the same as well. We did not retcon (i.e. delete or remove) any of their past romance at all; this is simply part of the story we are telling.

Romances often come with tragedies! In this case, we are explaining the rift caused by Phoenix's behaviour (and seeming unattachedness) in AJ. That does not mean the RP has ceased being Phoenix/Iris. Phoenix is being distant and even cold to her; she is keeping her distance as well, but they both (gasp) still very much have feelings for each other. :hobohodo:

Since he can't reveal his feelings outright, he's asking Diego to take care of her. In my opinion (though you are free to disagree), making sure that the person you love is safe and happy--even if he/she is not with you--is actually a very romantic concept.

The Diego and Iris players haven't decided on where they're taking the relationship. It may be that nothing romantic will happen between them. At any rate... don't despair! You have to search a bit for where we show their true feelings, but that makes it more interesting, does it not?

(And FYI Phoenix/Maya, Phoenix/Miles, Phoenix/anyoneelsebutIris is not going to happen in this RP.)

Unfortunately, I'm a little too busy to participate in any large-scale project. If I do happen to write something Phoenix/Iris though, I'll let you know.

I forgot to mention (since I think from Phoenix's perspective a little too often!) but Iris is trying to approach Kristoph in the RP to see if she can glean some truth about Phoenix's disbarment from him. She's trying to save Phoenix in that way--and she's the only one he'd told about what'd actually happened, so...!

Oh stop it with the whole blaming yourself. You've got no reason to blame yourself with work as well as that.

It's like a Valentine's Day fic should be, romantic, sweet and cute. You took what would normally be expected and turned into something that rivals your previous work. I wish I could go into more detail with my review, but I think you get the point.
