He was sooo nice. I couldn't believe he was guilty! After his background, and his motive I just wanted to cry! He doesn't need explaining. I know she wasn't guilty of killing, but she was guilty of messing around with the crime scene. I really didn't want her to go to jail! She just struck out as God's very special angel sent from heaven above who would do anything for anyone, even if it was bad...

because to me he was just a total creep and right from the beginning i could tell he was bad. and i also was really shocked when i found out godot was the killer in the last case. any one else feel that way??

- I really didn't want him to be convicted, I bet the judge wouldn't as well - He really was nice, felt bad to see him guilty - She wasn't responsible for the malpractice (or at least, I don't think she was) and her story nearly made me cry in 2-2
- This might be far from logical reasoning, but he was too cool to be guilty. Honestly, I idolized him from the moment I saw him, even after he was found guilty in 4-1 and 4-5.

If you prefer words, you should try C-R's case summary of 3-5 (the "Villain" perspective near the bottom of the page may be more concise and helpful).

...Godot is...probably the only murderer in the series whom I "didn't want" to be guilty.
Even with all the others with tragic motives, I can't say I wished for them to be let free, because, hey, they did what they did and deserve punishment -- and I can't say I simply wished for them not to be murderers, because, I mean, who else would it have been? Think of any case with a tragic murderer, and then imagine any of the other suspects being guilty instead -- usually, it's just as tragic if not more so.
Of course, all the same technically applies to Godot's case, but the sheer level of emotion in his story in particular somehow makes me desperately wish him innocent against better judgment.
It's also a case that was almost entirely preventable: if he'd gone openly to Phoenix for help instead of to Misty in secret, they could have all solved the problem together and Misty Fey would not have had to sacrifice her life. Of course, if that happened, we wouldn't have an epic story that epically ends the PW trilogy in the most epic way possible (did I mention that it was epic?)...but...just...s-so much suffering...

daryan; he was too cool to be guilty. yes, great logic, i know. but even when he was found to be guilty, i didn't really see him as the kind of person who would murder without good reason...for some strange reason, i thought he was protecting machi when i played it, although that really doesn't actually make sense, from what i remember. next time i replay the case i'll probably think of some far fetched reasoning as to why he did it.
machi; yeah, it was only smuggling but still.
acro; i didn't like him, but he seemed to actually be remorseful about what he had done. also, i thought it was really sad how he ended up killing one of the people he really looked up to, although, if he had gotten the correct target, it wouldn't have been much better. he didn't have a very good reason to kill anyone, but yeah.
...i haven't played all the games, so i can't really say for most of the characters.
i don't really mind the characters being guilty, as such--i think that just adds to their character, and makes them more interesting; most of my favourite characters were guilty--i just don't like the idea of them getting the death penalty. coming from a country where the death penalty is illegal, in my mind they're just serving a long sentence in jail. :D
