Outside of the obvious, (Ini and Godot. No, I feel no remorse about Acro.) I've gotta say, I wanted Gant NOT to be a villain. I liked his jolly side that he had in the beginning of the case.

:acro: He was sooo nice. I couldn't believe he was guilty! After his background, and his motive I just wanted to cry!
:godot: He doesn't need explaining.
:ayame: I know she wasn't guilty of killing, but she was guilty of messing around with the crime scene. I really didn't want her to go to jail! She just struck out as God's very special angel sent from heaven above who would do anything for anyone, even if it was bad...

Spoiler:
- :acro: Too nice to be a killer
- :godot: He's so cool!
- :garyuu: I really had lots of respect for him, never thought he'd turn out to be the bad guy! Guess I was wrong: :Kristoph-hair:

No sympathy for Gant, he's just a total creep! :gant-clap2:

:godot: - I really didn't want him to be convicted, I bet the judge wouldn't as well
:acro: - He really was nice, felt bad to see him guilty
:ditz: - She wasn't responsible for the malpractice (or at least, I don't think she was) and her story nearly made me cry in 2-2
:garyuu: - This might be far from logical reasoning, but he was too cool to be guilty. Honestly, I idolized him from the moment I saw him, even after he was found guilty in 4-1 and 4-5.

Acro...and Kristoph. Kind of Dahlia, but I wouldn't have liked her personality as much without the 'evil killer' part. Dee Vasquez, Machi(of the smuggling), Lana Skye(of evidence forgery), and Godot. :( :sadshoe:
I don't get the sympathy-for-Gant. I mean, look how he twisted Lana's protect-Ema instinct so that he could use her. Ugh.

I feel that I should explain my stance on Gant. It's not so much that I didn't want him to be guilty, but more like I didn't want him to be a villain at all. I guess it's just because I liked his 'nice' personality so much... But yeah, Gant deserved it...

I also wish Gant wasn't guilty. He was a great character, and I would have loved to see more of him. On the other hand, Lana had no personality whatsoever, and was a boring character. I would have preferred it if she were guilty.

Ini/Mimi Miney-I just plain liked her, she had a sad story to her to.
Acro-I mean come on, he was nice, he actually felt remorse and guilt to his murder. They would make a good couple.Sorry not a Gant fan. Adrian and Lana-They were protecting they respective characters.(Impax and Ema.)
That's basically it.

If you prefer words, you should try C-R's case summary of 3-5 (the "Villain" perspective near the bottom of the page may be more concise and helpful).

If you prefer visuals, you should try this amazing fan-animated video aptly titled "Godot's Story."

Spoiler: T&T -- Basically...
Godot met and conspired with Misty Fey to stop Morgan Fey's plan of using Pearl's body to kill Maya and secure her family's inheritance of the "Master" status in Kurain.
Pearl, naive to the true intentions, was instructed by her mother to channel the spirit of Dahlia, who would use Pearl's body to commit the murder and then pin it on Iris (who would look practically identical to Dahlia-channeled-by-Pearl).
Solution: Misty Fey summons Dahlia herself so that Pearl can not access the spirit. Unfortunately, Dahlia-in-Misty's-body still tries to attack Maya. Godot is there on lookout, and, when things get dire, he essentially has no choice but to kill Misty so that Dahlia's spirit will be discharged from her body.

This action effectively rescued Maya and thwarted Morgan's plan, and Misty was implied to have been willing from the start to risk her life for the cause, but the fact remains that Godot stabbed the body of Misty Fey. His intentions may have been to protect the sister of the woman he once loved -- or they may have been simply to exact final revenge against the evil girl that put him into a coma, while intentionally excluding and showing up Phoenix, whom he inexplicably deemed responsible for Mia's death. The nobility of his motives is up to you to decide.

(...Hope I got all that right.) :meekins:

...Godot is...probably the only murderer in the series whom I "didn't want" to be guilty.

Even with all the others with tragic motives, I can't say I wished for them to be let free, because, hey, they did what they did and deserve punishment -- and I can't say I simply wished for them not to be murderers, because, I mean, who else would it have been? Think of any case with a tragic murderer, and then imagine any of the other suspects being guilty instead -- usually, it's just as tragic if not more so.

Of course, all the same technically applies to Godot's case, but the sheer level of emotion in his story in particular somehow makes me desperately wish him innocent against better judgment. :larry:

It's also a case that was almost entirely preventable: if he'd gone openly to Phoenix for help instead of to Misty in secret, they could have all solved the problem together and Misty Fey would not have had to sacrifice her life. Of course, if that happened, we wouldn't have an epic story that epically ends the PW trilogy in the most epic way possible (did I mention that it was epic?)...but...just...s-so much suffering... :acro: *sniff*

kristoph; it would have been nice for him to have not been guilty, but then again, i don't know if i would have liked his character as much if he had just been good.
daryan; he was too cool to be guilty. yes, great logic, i know. but even when he was found to be guilty, i didn't really see him as the kind of person who would murder without good reason...for some strange reason, i thought he was protecting machi when i played it, although that really doesn't actually make sense, from what i remember. next time i replay the case i'll probably think of some far fetched reasoning as to why he did it.
machi; yeah, it was only smuggling but still.
acro; i didn't like him, but he seemed to actually be remorseful about what he had done. also, i thought it was really sad how he ended up killing one of the people he really looked up to, although, if he had gotten the correct target, it wouldn't have been much better. he didn't have a very good reason to kill anyone, but yeah.
...i haven't played all the games, so i can't really say for most of the characters.

i don't really mind the characters being guilty, as such--i think that just adds to their character, and makes them more interesting; most of my favourite characters were guilty--i just don't like the idea of them getting the death penalty. coming from a country where the death penalty is illegal, in my mind they're just serving a long sentence in jail. :D

I was fine with absolutely everyone being guilty :D There were some people that came close (ex. Mimi) but they still deserved it; they did have sad backstories, but if your response is going to be to kill someone then >_> Godot is also close but it was him or Maya so...

And as a direct opposite to the thread, I wanted Klavier to be guilty, but he never was. Let him rot in prison with his brother!
