I don't understand why being a retrial discounts it (since we're talking about the actual episodes and such), but it's not long enough :P

2-3 isn't right not b/c the first scene is a cutscene, but because the scene right after that takes place on Dec 26, and the first investigation on Dec 28, so it's not continuous.

No, no, no... a cutscene means that you aren't controlling anyone! Basically, if you aren't pressing "A" to advance the text, it's a cutscene. So the concert counted as a day.

Anyway, since you've apparently ruled out every case, I'll give you guys the answer....

Spoiler: ZOMGSUSPENSE
Turnabout Sisters! :D I bet you feel silly now, don't you, Wrestle?

It's the longest episode, clocking in a 5 days. Here's a rundown:

Sept 5: Mia is murdered. This is the opening investigation scene.
Sept 6: Most of investigation 1.
Sept 7: Court phase 2, and most of investigation 2.
Sept 8: The final scene of investigation 2 (the one where Phoenix is in the detention center... and that's right! This is a separate day. If you are careful you'll notice that in the timestamp at the beginning of this scene)
Sept 9: Court day 2.

This whole question really hinged upon whether you noticed investigation 2 consisted of 2 days, not 1.

What?

1. Concert
2. The Day After. You go to the Detention Center and see Machi. All you need to do is press A.
3. Day After. You go to Court.

Damn, Sisters... :chinami:

Spoiler: Wrestle-Style Objection!
Sorry. it's not 5 days. The case officially starts when Phoenix gets assigned.

And yes, I CAN get more specific than that. since the defendant is switched, then this means Phoenix spends, at the MOST, 3 days, and that's being generous.

Yep, so Turnabout Serenade is 4 days.

Day 1: Concert
Day 2: Machi at the detention center (although this is also technically the other part of the concert)
Day 3: Trial, and investigation
Day 4: Trial

Spoiler: Bad('s) Counter-Objection!
That is why I specifically said "episode", not case :-P

And I hope you have a counter for the "Lack-Of-Phoenix-Controlling" on Day 4? Remember: You don't actually control Phoenix there. If you pick ANY statement to tell Maya, you will get the exact same answer. Heck, it's not an official "Investigation" phase either, as anyone would agree, you don't do anything... which breaks the cycle, making it as relevant as the starting cutscene of 2-3.

Which was already denied earlier.

I think I was confusing the opening scenes of the previous trial with the start date of the trial in hand but its all one case State v Byrde for the killing of Glen Elg.

And I've had a very long day today ...

And how do you define episode compared to case? Seems some very odd restrictions on the answer?

to mrowster:
The case is just from when Phoenix gets assigned as the defense attorney to when the last day of trial ends. The episode is the entire thing.

So, take 1-3 as an example. The case is from the first scene at the detention center to the end. The episode is the opening cinematic to the end.

You see, you press "A" several times on July 8 in 4-2. In that case, July 8 spans much more than just meeting Machi at the detention center... it spans a part of the concert, a scene at Wright Anything Agency, and the detention center scene, and in all of those you press "A" to advance the text!

That's not what you said, though, was it? You specifically made a rule stating that it's ANY instance when you press "A", which defines it as NOT being a cutscene, and the reverse also applying, as in: If you don't press "A", It's a cutscene. You made your own rules earlier. Adding them NOW makes it seem more like "Rule Manipulation" than "Rule Following", does it not? :karma:

I agree completely! When I debate, I seldom take the instance seriously, in which I mean that I don't treat the debate like it's "For my Life" or anything. Despite what it may seem, I'm actually NOT taking our duel as 100% seriously as one might think... I mean, the "That's not what you said" line was from "A Few Good Men"! :-p

And another reason I was acting against 1-2, was because MechaShadow made a mentioning to 1-2 much, MUCH earlier... I should know: I replied to it, after all. :gymshoe:

I love how you also quoted my card there. "BAD PLAYER STOLE THE ANSWER!".

Uhh..... I am really confused. Now it seems like you're trying to agrue that the WAA and DC scenes were both not cutscenes... which would mean that I'm right (since then Sept 8 would count as a day in 1-2)...

Not even close. I am arguing how for NEITHER of those instances, you have to make any "Choices". Therefore, they are both cutscenes...

Then I made a separate argument about how you don't HAVE to press the A Button to advance the text in 4-2. :gymshoe:

Actually, there are multiple instances where you can't press anything to advance text, such as the end of 2-2 (Morgan Segment), Any flashback of the car accident in 2-2, Shelly talking in 2-4 to Phoenix, with Maya's P.O.V.,... just to name a few.

I never said that you need choices to have it not classified as a cutscene, just text advancement with "A"!

Well, the flashbacks in 2-2 and shelly talking in 2-4 both happen on days that it definitely doesn't happen, so it's kind of moot, for this argument.

Although Morgan, I guess that is a cutscene. >.>

They still happen mostly at the beginning of each case!

And also, Since I already used 2-2 and 2-4, I'll add 2-3 to the mix: The ending scene with Gumshoe talking to Edgeworth via a phone call, is also unable to be advanced. :gymshoe:

Now we're losing track.....

The point of the matter here is that the Sept 8 scene in 1-2 is not a cutscene, and thus fits into the terms and makes 1-2 the longest episode!

And that you didn't consider the answer someone else gave, sparking this whole debate. Anyways... *shot*

It's phrased different, but it's actually the same thing, since the only time you don't press A to advance the text is in the opening cinematic of each case (and the opening cinematic of each part of 4-4)

Oh, and I'm sorry, mechashadow :gymshoe: I honestly didn't see that....

...yeah I was about to point out that by that rules cutscene occur many time not just at the start..
..................-.-;; and yet you were gleefully grilling us over that answer?.....meh, I'll let it slide..just make sure noone's given the answer already first next time :godot:

and i'm kinda losing track of the questions so bringing em' up rather than arguing would help? :eh?:

Aww, if you were going to take an RP opportunity, I would've hoped for 1-1.

"Well, you just watch it!"

Best comeback EVER.

Active Magnus Question #2:
Sahwit suggests that he may have heard the time from what else besides the TV before he talks about the clock in 1-1?
Bonus points, who else can you say is the victim in 1-1 when asked by the Judge?

1) If you press about the Television, he ALSO says it could have been a radio... which, if it was used, would've been MUCH better to stick with, since some radios work on a backup battery activated when there's a blackout... meh! He's the criminal in the tutorial case. His existance doesn't matter. :-p *shot*

2) Mia Fey, and Cinder Block.

Well, One of the things she says is that she had "Betrayed her" by refusing to help her steal the jewel from their father. However, she DID help plan out the crime, according to Dahlia.

(My post wouldn't go through for some reason... Strange)
