I like the pairing because it is, in essense, a power struggle. They're two strong-willed men trying to do things their way, trying to exert as much influence as possible. There's no chance that they didn't butt heads at some point. It creates a possibility for tension.
There's also something about the dynamic of two older, experienced, powerful men that appeals to some (especially since the norm in yaoi is young, beautiful, first-timers).

Yes yes! You both have it right! But also for how funny it can get with the contrasts in their personalites. Chinese Infantry's scenario is very close to how I them getting along...in their cute little prison cell...heh heh heh...

Exactly! It seems like most parings are just put together becuse they are the main rivals and pretty, young people. (Distrubingly alot of girls are especily into paring waaaay underage kids like in alot of Kingdom Hearts fandom on DA...*shudders* ) It's always the same thing, "lets put them together becuse they are so cute!" and seem shocked and scared by the fact that mature and "uncute" charas can love/hate eachother too.
Though I think Gant and Von Karma are pretty fine themselfs also.

That's why I like Naru/Mitsu... It's not the stereotypical seme/uke roles with them. And they're not ubber pretty, anorexic-looking, flowy-shiny hair, kind of boys. (At least, I don't think Edgeworth's that girly.) And believe me.. I've seen the girliest of anime boys. =P

I like Naru/Mitsu because of the depth of the relationship between them, not because "OMG THEIR SO KYUT LETS MAKE EM HAVE MANSECKS LOL!!!!111!" I see waaayyy too much of that in... pretty much every fandom.
Anyways, Gantfred could make some very interesting storylines, such as Manfred struggling with his "imperfection" and... yeah. Maybe Gant wouldn't even be a rapist in this one, although I kind of doubt it.
It's so fun to make him a rapist, strangely enough... does this make me weird?

On-topic: OKAY I'M X-POSTING SO SUE ME. But I typed this up in another topic not intending it to be so long and I thought it was better suited for here.
One of my first PW pairings and I love it. The thing is though, as much as I ADORE Gumshoe's obvious mancrush, it's very one-sided. Edgeworth is constantly lowering the guy's paycheck despite the fact that he can't even afford electricity or food. Gumshoe is in POVERTY because of Edgeworth. Not only that, but in most of the rest of the games Edgeworth is just plain indifferent to Gumshoe.That said, I still love the pairing. I think an actual, mutual relationship would be a VERY hard thing for them to pull off, all things considered. They'd both have to change their mindset and it would face a LOT of contraversy. You have to spend a while explaining away Edgeworth's actions to get the pairing to not be creepy.
But I still love it. Gumshoe's absolute devotion is far too adorable for words. Croik's Steady Inhale made the pairing work beautifully. And just all the little bits in the game, like Gumshoe getting the files off of the top of Edgeworth's bookcase because there's a ladder and he's afraid of heights, or Gumshoe going to check on Edgeworth when there's been an earthquake, or their interactions in JFA, or Edgeworth's legendary "WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOP" (which I think is especially adorable when you take into consideration that Edgeworth basically uses "whoop" to mean "thank you." It's sort of a stretch, but I think he might have been trying to thank Gumshoe for being so devoted).
So yeah, it's not something that could EVER happen in canon in a million years, but I think it's cute and for me it just sort of has that "d'awww" factor.
