Does MechaBowser have a say/answer to this question I have stated? This was on the 4th page or so, but don't think anyone answered to it.
N-Mario wrote:
Question, do you think it is possible to program/code the shaking so that it only shakes inside the game, not the entire window? IIRC, in the real game, the top half of the screen only shook, not the bottom too. So it doesn't seem to make sense to make the entire window shake.

The other reason is, I find it that while I'm recording a video of a trial made with your trial maker, that sometimes the offset of the window gets slightly off after the shaking. At this point, the recordng screen would sometimes show the window bar, or the borders around it, cutting some of the screen off.

Also, I noticed when playing the games, the shaking of the screen, and the text bars have a slightly different shaking path, which is a 3rd reason why I'm asking about a different shaking method.

It's a feature in the new version. Just do the current shake effect and it's autom atically changed in the new version.

So is the new 2.1, or 2.0a (or whatever you want to call the update) released yet, that fixes the 2 bugs/flaws stated on the topic post? So I assume the shaking in this update will be top screen specific, and doesn't effect the entire window? Detective Gumshoe

Well
MAC just doesn't support .exe's like Window's does. And if youre wondering if the other case makers are gonna work (like Shauns), I'm gonna have to disappoint you, since Shaun made his maker in MMF2 too.

However, after I google'd it, I found some programs that might be able to emulate .exe's:

Alternative emulators are coming and they are a cheaper alternative to Microsofts Virtual PC. The still require you to install Windows and to spend the time doing so.

Oh right...I should've checked the first turnabout tutorial more carefully <_<

Okay, 1 more question, can you delete an action list? I'm in the progress of making a case, but I've barely started and it's already at 4 mb. I'm guessing it's something to do with me accidentally making 3 action lists.

Thanks in advance.

Well that wouldn't be the actual actionlist itself, that would be all the resources you have with it, such as songs, character animations. all that lot. Don't be afraid though. Most cases will probabily out around 5mb each, but it won't get much larger then that because thats all the files you will need.

The cross-examination isn't that different from the actual Testimony, so you won't have to wait long!

I think I could see a big difference between testimonies and cross-examinations.

For one, testimonies have different music, have the 'testimoney' text at the top, and plays sort of like a normal dialogue.

But with cross examinations, you get several things you don't get in a testimoney.
- Green text of the current dialogue spoken during the testimoney.
- 2 arrow buttons to cycle through left or right of the testimoney.
- Buttons to Press ("Hold It"), or Present evidence ("Objection") to testimoney.

Also, IIRC, during only the beginning of either the testimoney or cross-examination, the bottom screen shows 2 bars of the zoom faces of the defence and prosecutor. I assume that will be able to happen with the case maker?

BTW, you'll make a tutorial for testimoney's, like you did with the other examples, right?

So... Hope I'm not pushing too much, but out of curiosity, when do you plan on releasing the update? Detective Gumshoe

MechaBowser, thank you for this program. It seems a bit tough when you first jump into it, but I seem to be getting the hang of it. Now I do have a few questions/issues with the program(and I understand its still in the early stages, at this point):

1. As mentioned by previous members, the evidence seems not to be working properly. The program does not show my evidence when I pull up the court records, and when I click on the location of where they are suppose to be, it freezes. From what i have read so far, that will be fixed with the next update.

2. A few people have mentioned that the actionlist has issues. I have found that when trying to delete a actionlist, you actually create another one. Also I find it kinda annoying that you are unable to edit a actionline. Small typos I come across require going back in and completely re-doing the line. An edit line feature would be very helpful.

3. I am not good with sprites and all that stuff, but I noticed that when trying to use some sprites from the media section of this site, they seem to be buggy and off-centered to the left. Considering the links you provided only have sprites for PW1 and 2, and are very hard to sort though, a fix on how-to get those sprites to work, or an update to the actual program. Again, I don't much on this subject, so any help would do.

4. Also, along with graphics, do backgrounds have to be .png format only? I tried to add a .gif pic of the courtroom and the program did not see the pic. I did place the picture in the right folder, so that is not an issue. I also changed the format from gif. to .png, but the animations did not work anymore.

Image
This is the .gif file which has motion.

Image
This is the .png file I converted with no motion.

Any answers to this question would be grateful.

5. And lastly, the tutorial you have of contradictions is flawed. I am unable to read them, and because of that unable to understand how excatly to work the contradictions. Could you update that with the next update or put up the tutorial on the wiki site?

Thats all I have found at this time. Again thanks for all the hard work!

That's because any animations are usually in gif as oppsoed to png.

Questions one and two are being rectified in the update. The animations out of the media secton are not appropriate for this. He gave a link for some appropriate AA1 animations on the front page.

Further to DarzieP's reply, the animation of the courtroom isn't correctly sized for use in the Case Maker.

I've compiled a small set that you may find useful here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/wjcggz
Unzip gallery.png (which comes from the media section of this site) into your Backgrounds folder, and the rest of the files into Scenery.
In the program, add the gallery into your background database and, when you want it to show, ActionList it in the usual method.
You'll need to add three scenery layers on top of that - one for the Judge and one for each side of the gallery people. It's possible to half the amount of work in animating the jury by sticking both sides into one gif file (so there's only one static and one animated gif), but this is just meant to be a quick-'n-easy solution for you. Maybe I'll get round to that later... if you have a gif editor, of course, you can do it yourself. :D
The site referenced in the first post of the thread (whence all the above gallery sprites came, by the way) contains extra minisprites for the defense, prosecutors and, of course, witnesses/defendants. If you need them, they're close to the end of the rips (about page 200+).
Then just add the jury sound over the top and voilà, instant gallery!

Other situations like this can probably be fixed in a similar manner. Hope it's useful to you!

Edit: I'm not sure I answered your original question there. As far as I can tell, all backgrounds must be .png and all scenery must be .gif. Oh, and joining the two sides of the jury together is highly recommended if you want a witness on screen as there are only 5 scenery slots. :\

You can't delete ActionLists while it's an unneeded feature and can screw up the places where you've set it to jump, or start on a specific ActionList.
And edit is a feature in the new version.

Your sprites needs to have a canvas of 256x192.

.pngs only for Locations. If you want the big crowd gibberish, use Scenaries.

You mean the conditions?
It's simple.
You select a condition, like
"If 0 equals 0". If this is TRUE, it will display any script below it until it reaches and "END CONDITION" command.
If the statement is false, it'll skip all script until the "END CONDITION".

Also, as a addon to KServo's post: The Sceneries are layered. Scenery 1 is at the bottom, Scenery 2 is above that, etc., and Scenery 5 is at the top. That is, indeed, important to keep in mind.

Open the Phoenix Drive Tutorial. At start, it tests if Value0=0, if true, it plays the music and Value0 is set to 1. When the game restarts, the music won't reload and therefore making it quite smooth.

Another example would be to test if you've talked to a specific person that you have to, to move on.

A prime example...
Spoiler: Phoenix Wright:Ace Attorney
When doing Case 3 there is a point you cannot get to unless you talk to oldbag to get the trading card which you then trade off to the assistant that works at the studio to get the Ultra rare premium to trade to Cody

A looser example, you cannot progress to next part until obtaining vital piece of information from a certain person, this happened quite oftenly in case 5

Jtn wrote:

At the moment no but I am making a batch of loopable PW music that works with casemaker, once it's complete I'll be giving the link to Mecha so he can place it on the first post.

Question. Can you post evidence/pics on the top corner screen, like when Phoenix, Edgeworth, or one of the witnesses is showing the court something (before it goes in the court record file)?

For example, like this:

Although I haven't seen a tutorial for it, let alon kowng if its possible on your current engine.

Also, did anyone answer to my last post? Eh?

Well..... I'll be awaiting for your case makers update, before I start an any case. Althought I have a lot of ideas where I want to go with it (some may even be random, or testing, or short skits), but they won't work with the current case makers released.
