And prove how we take the ship too seriously.

Lots of people have reasons they don't like P/I [or Iris] and most of them don't use the 'Mary Sue' argument [which I think is incorrect, BTW.] Some of them were in the Pairing Debate Thread [damn that thing is long].
And P/I is NOT canon, beyond the PAST relationship which was conclusively ended, which was more Phoenix falling in love with a delusional romance concept than just Iris. Observe how attached he is to the bottle- it's central to his romance conceptual delusion. And he claims that 'as soon as I laid eyes on her, I knew she was the one for me' and that was Dahlia.
If present/future Phoenix/Iris was canon, Iris would have appeared in that 'family portrait' at the end of 3-5. You can't claim she didn't because she's in jail because Godot got on it, and she's even family as Pearl's half-sister.

I had to do the case about 5 times to find it, but it was totally worth it.

Well, they're not actively involved in an admitted romance in 2-4 [or even 3-5]. That would come later. And nobody except the Maya haters can deny they love each other, it's only the romantic love some people find debatable. So that doesn't mean anything. 2-4 and 3-5 are really kind of about Phoenix realising what Maya really means to him, anyway.

In all honesty, I think some of the GS staff supported this pairing [whoever invented Pearl and her shipping for one] and maybe some didn't. Which ones and where they are now, who knows. (Pity, since then I can't write and personally congratulate them
