I was more thinking "by the end of college", which is really 22-ish and not 20. And no, I don't think it's rare, nor do I think anyone who does so is in any way a loser. I do think it's uncommon, and I tend to assume that, in this regard, the writers of the game weren't going for "uncommon".
Also, definitions of "sex" vary, and that may affect things.
ETA: I really, really didn't mean to come off as derisive. I think I was just having a knee-jerk reaction to a lot of people assuming just about everyone *was* just because they don't have canonical romance backstories, and overreacted.

There are different people out there.
Some people have desire for sex at very early (15-16), some don't really feel the need until 22-23 or whatever.
Some people find someone who they truly love early, some don't.

But to be honest, I don't know a single person who is older than 20 and says that s/he's a virgin. (of course, I don't know such detail of all my acquaintances, but nobody over 20 stated that s/he is a virgin)

Lol I have no problem with that. It is still a really good thing, and sometimes (lack of time / energy) it can be even better than actual sex.
I'm just saying that in most, if I didn't have a girlfriend (thankfully, I do), and if I had to decide between "alone time" and " one-night-adventure", I'd choose the latter (if the girl is physically attractive, that is).

Maggey Byrd? Virgin. I see her as the "wait until marriage", or the "wait until TWOO LOVE" kind of person. And given her track record for luck, I find it unlikely that she ever had too many long-lasting relationships. If she had sex, it was with Dustin (sorry, Gumshoe).
Maya and Ema are probably virgins simply because they strike me as not really into romance or sex. Ema is focused on her science, and Maya is focused on her training. GS4!Ema came across as more "world wise," so it's very likely that she lost her virginity at some point. Maya (if she's the Master) will need to have a daughter at some point, so yeah.

I run an LGBTQ support group elsewhere in the internet, and someone totally mentioned a sort-of subcategory of aexuality where one isn't interested in sex, excepting, like, the one individual person that they're in a committed relationship with. something...? Sounds sorta like what you're going for. I'm going to browse on the AVEN wiki and see what I can find.
