I wondered that myself, since he keeps in it his pocket (I guess?). I just assumed Armstrong must be a Master Pickpocket having stolen from his customers before and left it at that...though how a "man" like that manages to be sleuthy I'll never know >_>

I totally loved the burning bridge thing too! :D Though I wanted to shake him when he was all, "The only thing on my mind was, 'I have to get across.'" I know, but it seemed more in a "I have to go save somebody" sort of way, rather than "I have to save HER." Like...I'm not really sure how to put it into words...I just feel like it'd have been sweeter if he'd been thinking of Maya rather than the task at hand. :P Like he didn't even think of getting across the bridge, but rather simply getting to Maya.
Urrgh, that doesn't really make sense DX Basically my point is, isn't "The only thing on my mind was Maya" a bit more satisfying? :D

It's perfectly understandable for Nick to show enormous concern for Maya after having her as his co-council and assistant for three years, practically living together during the daytime.
The act of him rushing across the bridge to make sure she was alright when she was in the middle of the hideously long "special course" was an act of love. Whether familial love or romantic love is up to the individual's discretion, and I don't think psychology lessons are needed to persuade anyone of anything.

What, a love confession? Part of the reasoning behind it is that it was instinctual. He loves her so much, he rushes to defend her without even thinking, even though he knows the dangers. Phoenix is a bit oblivious to consciously labelling his true feelings [and we can instantly throw out a few theories why, all stemming from traumas in 3-1.] But it's clear where his loyalties lie and to which relationship he shows instinctual dedication.

Argh...basically, yes, I get that Phoenix cares about Maya. But the point of this thread is to talk about him having MORE than platonic feelings for her, and I was expressing a way that he could've said so, if PW was that kind of game with that kind of storyline with those kind of cheesy lines.
It was an innocent comment that I thought was appropriate for the thread. :\ I'm pretty much done discussing it, but you two can have at it if you like. It's just turning it back into a debate, which was never MY intention.

So, in attempt to steer things back on track, I decided to post the MayaxNick fic I've been working on. It's over at FF.net. I'm doing using it prompts from the 100_prompts livejournal community, though I'm only using one of the 30 prompt sets :P

Most of your post was off topic and uncalled for. Is it really that hard to keep your hate for the mods to yourself?
I've been trying on curtail those kind of post in the fanbase since before I became a mod.
I'm not actually a really big fan of Phoenix/Maya but there are some good fics out there from what I've browsed on the meme and such. There is a really good one on Objection archive that starts out almost Maya/Edgeworth but ends up with Phoenix/Maya. I don't recall the name of the fic, but it was a parody of (or based on) My Fair Lady.

I've always been a shipper of NickxMaya though. I didn't get into PW fan stuff until very recently and I started the series a looong time ago. I thought they were cute together since the first game, even if nothing definitive happened between them romantically :)
