There's nothing wrong with that. Its really a sense of expectations and them not being met. There definitely is a market for this kind of money or else it wouldn't sell. I don't mind fluff as long as there is plenty of substance to go along with it (take for example Higurashi no naku koro ni, its full of fluff but the substance makes it more than tolerable) however there are plenty of anime which are just plain silly and they have fan followings as well. Its just a matter of taste really.

I agree. Phoenix was acting kind of like a jerk. I never would have thought he was a cat=hater.
Also, why couldn't Maya just take it back home to Kurain? I'm sure Pearl would like a kitten.

I was pretty disappointed, too. I was actually expecting something... plot related, maybe? Although I did enjoy "Progress Towards Tomorrow", but that may just be because I love interactions between Phoenix and Miles. When the book first arrived, I almost passed out screaming because I was so excited. Little did I know, it was just a collection of random doujin. (not dissing the artists, just saying that I was misled in my purchasing)

The saddest part of all, though...

I'm still going to buy Vol. 2.

My friend bought me the magna as an early Christmas present. And I for one loved it. I'll admit, there were a lot of "WTF?" moments, but then again, isn't that the charm of Ace Attorney in general, in terms of the fact that we're all drawn here based on a game in which we cross-examine a parrot, and coffee comes from nowhere? Where whipping is allowed and accepted as almost normal in the middle of court?

I wasn't all too fond of the first two stories, I'll give you that. The first one, I didn't like the art, and it seemed somewhat....Too flowery for my liking. The second one....I don't know, it seemed somewhat off to me.

The first story with the kitten was somewhat annoying to me, maybe it was because I was again not fond of the art (That cat-like tooth thing the artist used in almost every panel really bothered me. Imagine my despair when I realized that artist wrote two of the stories.), and the portrayal of Maya is just so off. Especially in the second story written by that artist, the one that starts with Maya screaming something about "evidence attaaaaaaccccck!" and then repeatedly pokes Phoenix, and rolls around on the floor in boredom. Then she kills the fourth wall. And not the awesome way like Hobonick can.

I loved Turnabout Kitten, though. The art was beautiful (If you can't tell, I like quality art.), and it had such a lighthearted look at things. And Larry was hilarious.
