/ or / for that matter aren't related are they?No, they're not, but Phoenix and Maya consistently act like a pair of siblings around each other - Phoenix spends almost the entirety of 2-3 grousing about her in a way that I'd expect an older brother to grouse about his sister, but that would be a little creepy and unhealthy to my eye if he had romantic feelings for her. (That internal snark about the circus taking her in so he can have some peace and quiet? Dude, I don't want a boyfriend who thinks about me like that. XD) And Miles and Franziska were raised together, so they'd identify as siblings despite the lack of blood relation.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE those relationships as sibling dynamics. As brother and sister I think Phoenix and Maya are the most wonderful and darling pair to exist upon this planet. I just think the relationship goes into unpleasant and creepy places when you make it romantic. (Plus, I find it really refreshing that the male lead can, for once, have a very strong and loving platonic bond with the female lead. not enough relationships like that in fiction.)
...And this isn't Pairing Debate so I'll stop now XD;
