Both pronouncations are (sorta) correct, actually. "Meetis" (longated vowel) is how the name is pronounced in Modern Greek. In Ancient Greek however, the ῆ in Μῆτις was pronounced differently (Modern Greek basically threw a bunch of vowels together to simplify the language). in AG, the vowel is pronounced something like the 'e' in "men", or the "ai" in "fairy". I only know AG, so I always read the ῆ the 'old-fashioned' way.

I'm learning from this thread that there were more than I thought, haha. The first time I played the series I was something like 14 and hadn't studied Japanese yet, so yep I said "coo-rain"... I also pronounced Godot as "Go-dot" but I said that to my mom and she was just like, uh, no. :p I've probably pronounced others wrong as well; when I'm not certain I tend to guess a phonetic pronunciation but with English that... tends to be wrong anyway. Then we have that guy from PLvsPW -- you know the one I'm talking about. I tend to pronounce his name as "dft-ll-whatever."
