The uninteresting characters DO have fan followings though. They may be small, but they're a pretty devoted bunch. Take Sezza with Ben and Trilo for example. XD He's the most 'uninteresting' character most people can think of, but he has fans! The Bellboy, I think he's awesome and he's sexy too. I know a few people who would say the same.
It all depends on individual people's versions of 'interesting'. If they're the typical pretty-boy bishounen in a game (you know, the kind with the huge fanfollowing with all the fangirls going OMG I LUV KLAVIER/EDGEWORTH/MATT/WHOEVER ELSE), I won't like them...unless they're a pretty boy with a twist (a la Wellington) who breaks away from the typical role of a bishounen.
If a character doesn't get enough spotlight, they interest me more than the ones who get all the attention. Take...Richard and Edgeworth for example. With Edgeworth, a lot of his family/life/upbringing information is canonical. We know most of the reasons why he does what he does. But with Richard...we can speculate. For instance, I think Richard may have acted the way he did because he wanted to fit in. He was probably a total n00b of a con-artist going OMG GUISE I CAN DO IT TOO LOOKIT ME :D who annoyed the shit out of the more experienced cons. XD Because the writers don't elaborate enough on them, we get gems like that.
Main characters....usually there's not as much to speculate on. Sure there may be specific things, but not enough for a fanfiction writer or dramatic such as myself to be able to create their past and write the story.
SO NOW THAT I'VE TAKEN UP SO MUCH SPACE.
"uninteresting" characters are awesome.
And take me with Mike Meekins! I know he's not popular. But I make it clear that Mike fan's DO in fact exist!
Edit: @MoronSonOfABoron: I completely and 100% agree. As I sat reading his text, I was extremely disappointed! He's not as wonderful as everyone says he is! He's just a damn pretty boy who's personality resembles Reno from FFVII and many other boys who can't come to mind right now! Edgeworth, may not have been my favorite of characters. But Edgeworth is deep and a little more interesting in the courtroom. Hell Matt is more interesting than Klaiver! I can't even tell you how much I wish people would stop going gah-gah over him!! The only thing I truly liked about Klaiver was his theme. That's it!

When I said 'uninteresting characters', like I said, I didn't mean people like Meekins, Richard, Ben & Trilo, ect. I meant people that, seriously, NO ONE likes. Though now that I think about it, everone's gotta have a fan, right?
When you think about it, PW is just a group of cliches strung together so well that they make us think they're original. The angsty pretty boy, the rockstar, the bumbling detective(s) (some more than others), the evil bishounen, the cute 'rich' boy, the man who can only speak through his puppets, etc... Why do we all have to fight each other? We can't 'decide' who we love and hate, just like in real life.
As I saw on a dA stamp once, 'Fangirlism is about love, why the hate?' You guys might hate Matt. And that's okay. The thing is, that we try to respect each other's fangirlisms to the point that we can get along and not start anything that'll get any of us in trouble, okay?

he is overly stupid. Okay for a little while it was funny, but then it got to the point that it was irritating. Also the way he lets prosecutors walk all over him, I know they are intimidating with their whips, coffee and frills, but have a back bone! The way he never keeps track of what's goign on and just his stupid EYES he annoys me. A lot.:)

I hated her overuse of her whip and her "foolish fool that does foolhardy things fool fool fool." Really now. Who's the foolish one who can't even think of a less foolish word to use than fool? Don't even get me started...
Not the worst character in the universe, but I felt she deserved a special mention. They could have done so much more with her, I feel. She seemed like she could be quirky spectacular awesome chick, but was not given enough personality. What can you expect from someone with her background, I guess. Her constant drawings annoyed me, too.

Whenever I read aloud a character's dialog, I like to give them their own voice. With Jean here, I had to mimic a poorly done French accent. It was... difficult to say the least, and by the end of investigation 1.. I couldn't stop talking in said accent. >_> And the fact that you see him rub lotion all over himself really creeped me out.
Ugly and his made-up words are hard to pronounce.

I found him funny and sympathized with him at times, but he is so ignorant, indecisive, and hard to look at. Ema ftw!
Personality non-existent. When he breaks up, the best he could do is cry? I hated him and he made the case worse than it already was. 
I actually like these prosecutors very much, but what gets to me is not their over-confidence, but their lack of common sense. Even though their job is to prove the defendant guilty, they always have to go out of their way to harp on the smallest details about Phoenix's theories for example, which makes more sense than the prosecution's, and then your entire case is discredited unless you present proper evidence (which you won't have most of the time). These extreme stakes make the gameplay interesting, but it sometimes gets too much. You never really have the upper hand, unless you corner a witness. I just wish that the prosecutors would sometimes accept that they're wrong and shut up. It's funny, because all they want is the truth (except for von Karma). Spoiler: 4-3, Daryan
