Uh yeah hi sup
I was thinking about some random things and theories and stuff and thought it'd probably be best to bring them up here in the thread so I actually signed up for an account. SHOCK I KNOW :B but you know once I get an idea I can't let it go for some retarded reason. ALSO I REALLY LOVE AUs, THEY ARE A LONGTIME WEAKNESS OF MINE
Anyway the way I work through ideas is talking to myself generally and working through problems as I go along, so uh...might seem a bit disjointed. :O I hope that's okay.
Anyway who am I thinking about? CAN ANYONE GUESS? yes of course it's Yanni duh. He was a really important part of the DL-6 case and such, and I was just trying to figure out a way to change and adapt that but still have it work. And have him be important because I'm gay for him. :B DON'T MIND ME.
Hope I'm not stepping on toes here by just theorizing and such. I'm going off what I gathered through reading the thread, so if stuff has been added or changed here and there from what I know then you know...just ignore me or something. :B
SO. First off, question is what Yanni will be in here? If it's going to be the same doddering, old man Yanni that's faking his senility, there has to be a reason for it. If it's NOT that Yanni, then Yanni is pretty much entirely different since his life wouldn't be destroyed yadda yadda yadda. So let's say that it IS the same faking senility Yanni from the game that
we I know and love. Question is, how do we get to this point? Why is he that way? What's he trying to do, and how is he related to the other characters? I've got a few ideas for this, so bear with me.
OH YEAH i drew Yanni as a pilot. lol. I couldn't help myself, even though I can't draw mech suits. :B
hurr.
SO. Assuming he's a pilot or he was or was involved or something, there's a few things that could make him lose it, so to speak. Of course, the foremost of which being losing Polly, which should happen. Actually that little locket he's wearing in that sketch was hers. I'm lame, I know.
BUT. How did she die? Easiest way - along with the innocents in that run Gregory was making through that asteroid field. If I remember how that played out right. Gregory was taking them through the asteroid field when Manfred showed up and busted a cap in him, right? SO let's say that Polly died somehow in the crossfire, or was a casualty, or her death was somehow associated with Gregory's death. That's enough to make Yanni lose it and want revenge against Miles, since it would be widely believed that he was responsible for Gregory (and therefore, Polly's death).
This part basically stays the same through all my theories, but here's where it branches out. Sort of. These are all sort of loose and sketchy and don't have a lot of solid details cause you know...just ideas :B
My first idea was that just like so, Yanni would lose it after finding out that Miles, even indirectly, killed Polly, and swear revenge. He enlists the help of Hammond, or Hammond convinces him that he can help him get revenge somehow, but when it comes down to it, Hammond bails or sells him out. depends on how you want to go with it. Hammond could just escape like a coward or just never intended on helping Yanni at all or...you know, whatever. Thus Yanni's hate-on for Hammond. Either way, being totally ditched and such, Yanni gets a beatdown from Karma (not that Hammond would have really been a help anyway, but it's the thought that counts, darn it!) and...in the process let's say his mech is severely disabled. Hoping to appeal to Karma's better nature, Yanni fakes brain damage from the battle, hoping that'll make him nonthreatening enough so that Karma won't just kill him. This is totally pushing it in my opinion cause duh of course Karma would kill him anyway BUT THIS WAS JUST MY FIRST IDEA so stick with me. Parts of this could be used in other places, anyway.
SO Karma's like "haha loser whatever" and leaves him alone. Since Yanni was a bailiff in the game, he could have already initially been on the Prosecution's side (this didn't occur to me until a little later, thus why it doesn't make sense with Hammond BUT AGAIN BEAR WITH ME) and therefore Karma just keeps him, but relegates him to some out-of-the-way occupation, such as...being in charge of mech distribution or something like that, as an equivalent for his boatshop. Yanni still wants revenge and then...I dunno. Whatever equivalent of that plot happens and such.
FIRST IDEA. Of course, I realized a bunch of problems with that (although some of it's alright) and began working through it again. One thing is that it divorces Yanni from the entire DL-6 conflict again, which I don't like since he was very much a central part of the entire thing. SO I tried to see if I could get him more involved, so to speak, in the entire affair.
Now, I didn't see anyone mention Gregory having a wingman/spotter...it's possible that Yanni could have been in on that instead. In this case, Karma could have jumped them and Yanni could have survived, somehow...maybe ejected or something, I dunno. I'm not entirely sure if Yanni saw Karma do it or not...it kind of goes differently depending.
Let's say that he does at the moment. In this case, Yanni could have faked being dead or braindamaged when Karma killed Gregory to survive, and Karma, assuming Yanni was either dead or too stupid to tell anyone what happened, leaves him be. Once word gets out, while Miles blames himself for plotting the faulty course, which puts him on his guilt spiral (a la the games, where even though no one blamed him for what happened, he did blame himself), the majority of those involved blame Yanni for...I dunno, not seeing the "asteroid" that took Gregory out. Or something. BLAME HIM FOR GREGORY'S DEATH anyway.
And perhaps, on the advice of someone else in the Defense who...I dunno, is looking out for him, or...something. Maybe Yanni asked Hammond for advice. EITHER WAY. Yanni's able to get out of most responsibility for it by being "brain-damaged" by the conflict, since it's a bit hard to blame someone who doesn't understand anymore. In this case, he could again be shifted off to mech distribution for his boatshop equivalent, and while everyone blames him, he knows that it was the COURSE that was faulty, and blames Miles.
While this scenario is a bit more solid than the first, there are still some holes here and there that could be filled or tweaked. For example, I'm not sure why Karma would turn to Yanni for assistance, if that's still going to happen. :B I didn't see any mention of how the Karma/Edgeworth/Yanni thing was going to play out.
For some reason I like the idea of Yanni being coerced or being under Karma's control and thumb, just in case. Maybe because I'm totally messed up that way, but something about that appeals to me. Since Yanni was originally a bailiff, he could be either on Prosecution or Defense depending. Him being on Defense works better for the him being with Gregory thing.
Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean that Yanni knows that Karma killed Gregory...if he DID know that, he would tell everyone. Well, if he wasn't braindamaged of course (OOO CATCH-22) but still, I think he would tell them, and why would he pretend to be braindamaged in that case? Unless it was to avoid being called a coward. Well either way, if Yanni DOESN'T know Karma killed Gregory, then in that case he's just as clueless as everyone else, and blames Miles for the faulty course (also, matches game canon better). If he DID see Karma, then he blames Karma for it but can't do anything about it, trapped by his own lie. Stewing in IMPOTENT RAGE UNTIL...I dunno, he tries to attack Karma or Edgeworth and fails. He'd probably get killed in that case as much as it makes me D: so hard, but realistically yeah he would totally get owned.
Does Edgeworth know Yanni? He might have. If Yanni was Gregory's spotter, he'd have to have some familiarity with him, but as he used to be, not the doddering old man later on. I'm amused at the idea of Yanni still piloting a mech as an old man. :D HEY KARMA CAN DO IT WHAT
And to COMBINE some ideas, let's say that Yanni DID see Karma and blames him for the deaths of Gregory and Polly (i am getting fond of the idea of Yanni and Gregory being friends and I NEED TO STOP THAT TRAIN OF THOUGHT RIGHT NOW) and goes after Karma with the help of Hammond since...I dunno, Hammond's a wild card who'll do anything pretty much if he thinks he'll succeed. Or something. I dunno. CAN YOU TELL I DON'T LIKE HAMMOND
Well either way Hammond ditches him, Karma gives Yanni a beatdown no problem and then recognizes his little red and blue and yellow parroty looking mech (lol). Karma thinks that if he had control over the potential wildcard of Yanni (due to his potential knowledge of what happened) that would prevent Miles from finding out, and so captures and just I dunno...forces him to work for him. Or something. THERE, THERE'S ME STICKING THAT IDEA IN THERE CAUSE I LIKE IT.
It would be easier for Karma to keep tabs on what Yanni says and who Yanni's talking to if he had him closeby to keep tabs on him, and he could also use the time to manipulate and use Yanni for his own devices like...I dunno, attacking Edgeworth. Or convincing Edgeworth to blow up some Defense mecha that happened to be guy named Hammond. ALL UP IN THE AIR SO FAR.
Any of these, all of these, combinations of these. I'm just working them out in my head.
I like the idea of Yanni having a mech because lol. I don't know much about mechs though, and if he's a spotter he wouldn't have one, BUT IF HE DID I think it would be called Polly. Unless that's too silly a name. NO I GOT IT. The mech could be called
Sayuri, and the AI would be POLLY. And be all red and blue and such much like his parrot. :B
Just guessing, I'd picture it more working on speed than anything else. Kind of fragile. Particularly since he wouldn't have much of an opportunity to update or upgrade it over the fifteen years, so by the time he's back into it for...whatever reason, the mech is just as old and fragile as he is, and a little slow on the response time. It's fast though still, and rather good at dodging and evading, since it's hard for me to think of him focusing on power. I mean Yanni? lol. He would stand no chance against Karma and company though. And probably against most modern mobile suits. I mean mechas.
I'm no good at weaponry or mechs or what have you. :B Unless someone else fleshes them out, I'm leaving them kind of open. I might come back and make more though, depending.
So anyway. Probably come up with more as it comes to me, or you guys raise objections to what I'v come up with so far. OBJECTION, YOUR IDEAS ARE LAME. AND YOU ARE TOO GAY FOR YANNI. THOSE ARE MY CONCLUSIONS.
I still think Yanni's an important character though, and I'd really hate to see him shuffled off to a minor part. He played a big role not only in Miles' past but in Grossberg's and Maya and Mia's too. :< I SWEAR I'M NOT JUST A BIG FAVORITIST.
Anyway, in NON Yanni related ideas, I was just thinking
about Will/Jack about the Global Mercenaries, and just as a quick idea, there should totally be a scene near the end, I dunno if it'd be on foot or in mechs it depends on what's going on, where Will's in some kind of danger and Jack throws himself in the line of fire, essentially sacrificing himself for Will. There you go, another death! And then Will could be like "OMG NO WHY DID YOU DO THAT JACK ;_;" and Jack could be like "*cough cough* my time is out, it's your time now" and then die and it could be REALLY REALLY HEARTBREAKING it's kind of making me sad to think about it actually. :< But I think there'd be some kind of appropriateness in having Jack die in the end, despite how much I love him.
Also, on Lotta! Surely there are like...other things going on that DON'T involve this huge armed conflict, amirite? Lotta of course could just be an investigative reporter, finding things to report back to the non-mecha populace on what the two factions are doing. What side is she on? WHO KNOWS??? She's a wild card, with a fluffy fro! :D And I like her so there is that. IT COULD BE A MINOR PART. Just a brief mention or something. I'd just feel bad if she got cut for no reason. D:
Also there was some talk of Acro and Bat and company. :O I pictured them on their own starship, just the whole lot of them. Traveling around, doing odd jobs for cash, just as a kind of almost mercenary family. Heh, big flashy starship. I'm not sure how they could get involved in anything though. I do like Acro so much. :< But I'm not sure what he could do. Hmm. The mechanics idea probably works better though.
I forget, was Juan involved with Celeste at any point during this, or did he not know her at all? Or just know her briefly? I feel bad about him not having a spotter, but he doesn't really have anyone else in his life without her.
I'd like a big Juan deathscene with him fighting until his very last breath against Engarde, cursing his name the whole way, but lol juan fangirl don't mind me.
Can you imagine how depressing that could be? Juan throws everything he's got at Engarde's now insane mech, screaming something dramatic and painful like...I dunno, if he DID know Celeste, maybe something like "You took her away from me, and I'll never forgive you! This time you've gone too far, and it's going to end right now! THIS IS FOR CELESTE!! RAAAAARR" and then he'd give everything he got and then Matt would be like ">D" and kill him and say something douchebaggy over his corpse like "I THINK CELESTE WOULD HAVE BEEN DISAPPOINTED BY YOUR PERFORMANCE. BUT THEN AGAIN YOU BOTH WERE SO SECOND-RATE ANYWAY. HA HA HA." and then cackle and drink brandy. like the evil DOUCHEBAG HE IS. but don't mind me.
ANYWAY. MAYBE MORE LATER. I DUNNO. I TALK TOO MUCH.
