The way Kartoon Kween did it she also had everyone fill out a form so she could better assign people secret santas.

Me too! I never understood why we couldn't all be friends.
I got the idea from Chloebabes, and she got the idea from here. That old thread is an excellent ref for people organizing their first online Secret Santa.
I wouldn't mind to draw something and post it on the internet and so on, as long I don't need to send it.
Yeah, the gift needs to be something that can be given through the internet. Traditionally a fic or some art is given. However, not everyone likes to draw or write, so I thought that it would be a good idea to include graphics (like an avatar/sig combo or a wallpaper) as a possible gift idea.

The NameKeeper will be making a form which all participants has to fill in before x datum, and PM it to him. He/She will assign a secret santa to each participant and then he/she will send the form of each person to their 'secret santa'.. and then you can make your gift. (which has to be completed between a timeline, for instance between; 23 December - 9 January)
It's kinda hard to explain, but I hope you got it now. =p
