Part of the reason I believe why Miles disappeared leaving a suicide note behind, and rejecting his help at first in AA:4. Looking back, however, Edgeworth would be dead by now without Phoenix' defense. Dead. The case was near impossible, but that didn't matter to Wright.Phoenix' emotions go as far as to hold onto his own pain although Edgeworth returns. That shows what a complex relationship it is and how aware Phoenix is of his own emotions, able to look at them from a distance, not rush headlong into happiness upon Miles' return. Only the strongest relationships can withstand such trauma. They care about each other more than friends do, and that is why they've grown only stronger. Now I can't wait for Struggling Against Gravity to continue.
