They are baaaack! DX

I just want to add that all I have is what I posted last with "Face of the Samurai" added.
What I usually do is take a day and get a big part written up. I'll probably have one of those days pretty soon. ;)

I made some ok progress this weekend, and so I decided I wanted to share a couple of the sketches with the thread.

I invite you all to check out my Phoenix Wrong teaser, here.

I don't know Tomorrow's Trial very well.. I can't remember who exactly is in it--but I think its anybody and everybody. The only problem: we have no accompaniment for that.

Sweeney, all we've been doing is recording a bunch of different people singing all the different songs right now. It will be a looong time before any of the casting is finalized. So really you should try anybody and everybody, even if you think you won't suit, you might be surprised! ^_^ All of us here will let you know if you sound really great as a certain character. ^_~ In the meantime, record whatever, whether or not there are already a million gumshoes or larries in all the songs.

Edit: Most of the accompaniments can be found in our putfile pages or our lastfm pages. Mine is linked in my sig, as are most people's. You'd especially want to try Triforcebun's songs (linked in his sig)

Just in case you need further encouragement, Sweeney:

When I went to Comic-Con last summer, one of the mandatory stops I made was to the Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends panel. During the discussion the topic of casting characters came up, and the crew launched into this story about how they finally settled on finding their voice for Eduardo, the big, furry, scardy-cat Spanish-speaking monster on the show. Originally they were looking for a really deep, smooth, almost sexy voice (probably akin to Carlos Alazraqui's Wandisimo on FoP), but everyone who came in to try out for the part using that voice just didn't seem to fit. So Tom Kenny, who was originally there to audition for a completely different character, decided to give it a shot, but instead of using the voice the creators had in mind, he launched into this "butchered Cookie Monster impression" on a whim because it's the voice that came to him when he first saw the character. And even thought it wasn't at all what they had been looking for, the creators loved it and ended up using that voice because it fit the character so well.

Moral of the story: just because you don't think you voice will fit the predefined mold doesn't mean it won't work, period.

ETA: I'd just like to throw out that I'd LOVE to hear a version of "Tomorrow's Trial" in the near future. That's the one song I've been looking most forward to hearing performed.

Okay, so I was wondering...How do you go about recording an instrument properly? Do you need proper professional microphones and stuff? Cause I was listening to the songs here and everything is very clean and audible (particularly the piano) and I have no idea how to follow that example. I don't have any proper recording items either; I tried to use my camcorder to hear what it sounded like but it went, er, not well.
Any suggestions on what to do would be much appreciated; I understand this is a particularly annoying/dumb question I've thrown out here :)

I think most of the music recordings are synthesized.
We haven't really had much done with a real instrument yet.

Sorry I'm being so unsocial, I'm never on at the right time...

Anyway, thanks for the positive comments on the Trial By Fire storyboards! I really appreciate it.

I can't help but feel that I'm not contributing enough, though. I would record a demo, but I feel like I can't sing at all compared to all you amazing people. Ever if I did try, I don't know any parts I could attempt to sing for. (Pretty sure I'm an Alto... at least that's what I was when I was in chorus in middle school...) Hey, we all feel that way sometimes. Don't let it get to you. Besides that, you really have no reason to feel that way! Your storyboards freaking rock! I can't wait til you get more done. ^_^

My favorite song?
In terms of musical awesomeness= Gotta Be The Butz!
In terms of emotional impact= Justice for All Reprise

Caitlin--The reason TriforceBun's sound quality is so high is that he has some super special awesome music composing tools and keyboard on his dad's computer. My sound quality is pretty low because I record mine by setting my headset mic on the speaker of my $80 Yamaha keyboard... LOL If you don't have super high quality recording equipment, just record the best that you can for now.

Kemi--You're fond of "Script?" What is that?

Thanks. I just wish I could get some done. I've been in a drawing slump and have only finished two more frames since I put up the Youtube video. Just want to help as much as I can.

And, my favorite song? Probably "I'll Be There." Mostly because of Phoenix's line about the goldfish. It's been stuck in my head along with Mr. Roboto for weeks now. "It's Gotta Be The Butz,""Awakening," and "Guy You Can Trust" are great, too.
