EDIT: Oh, and I found this fic as well today. I really, really like it, it seems totally possible, and some of the things in the first 2 paragraphs are just so spot on that it's as if they took the words right out of my mouth. It's a good fic, especially considering it's the author's first time.

See, P/M isn't my OTP, but I'm pretty supportive of it (Guess which still holds OTP?). One of the primary reasons that I abhorred P/M at first is because I thought Maya was drab looking and immature. Well, thanks to Chloe's avi and Floran's most recent sigs, I've gotten over the first part. Yay me! (also, because the community was alluring as well.)
Oh, right, I'll still be able to debate with you on the veracity of the pairing, Justis, but you'll see considerably less fervor in my mini-essays. :P

Hmm, I think Taffy is admitting defeat. 'Maya is too short' was always a bad opening argument...
No arguing in this thread.
Maya is immature in some areas, but surprisingly mature in others. And the game as much as hints at the ending she's just become more mature over the 3-5 catastrophe, rather than it simply crushing her.

Lol, this totally reminds me of Turnabout Regression. XD
On one hand, it wouldn't shock me if Nick tried to pull this off, but on the other hand he might be a bit more practical than he was in 3-1 and he'd probably just get something he knows Maya would like. Pearl would probably be more excited about the sweater than Maya would be, squealing something about how romantic it is, while although Maya may never wear the thing she'd probably give Nick a kiss on the cheek or something to show how sweet she thought he was.

That's an idea. Problem is, it's hard to write from a char's perspective, especially in the first person. I haven't really thought much about Pearl and how she'd see the world and her life outside of the scenes we see.
Also, how she'd narrate. Formal, I think her JP version uses archaic words. And she doesn't know what half of modern society's stuff is. And she can't spell. Or read. And she'd see everything as some weird fairytale. Also, she thinks Phoenix and Maya ARE a romantic couple from 1-4, so reality would be a disappointment and maybe not the fluff we're looking for.
...Which is all nice, but probably not something I'd accomplish in a few days...
Then again, I guess nobody is expecting Pulitzer Prize material...

That's a great concept, but not really what I need here (and even more work, extrapolating young Pearl's perspective to a gradually mature form.. hmm, and I'd overthink this, yes, and that requires char development of Pearl herself) Maybe someone else could write it though.
The type of thing I'm going for here is the type of fic that, well, Justis is the master of...
But Justis has indeed saved me. Getting right out of Phoenix and Maya's perspective and into another perspective I haven't tried is exactly what I needed at this point in time...
Pearl's narration will probably not be up to scratch, (I'd have to replay some cases yet again to get it right!) but I'll pretend some Mystic commissioned to teach her better reading and writing edited it or something... um, hopefully my recipient will forgive me
