Glad you pretty much liked it, oboewan! :O I can retry it for you if you want, but that one was just for fun, really. x3

Also! I got bored, and ff3girl mentioned how a lot of characters didn't have testimony songs...Soooo...I wrote one!

It's called "Battle of Wits". It's a song for Vasquez. It has a melody, but I'm lazy and didn't feel like recording it (I'm also sick and it would sound bad). If you want to try your hand at melodifying it, go for it, but my lyrics are weird and don't follow a pattern, so it's kinda hard to figure out melodies for them if you don't already know it...Did that make sense? xD Anyway.

This is basically the first half-or-so of her testimony--up until she concedes defeat in the battle of wits. The rest is really serious, so I figured it'd be better off spoken.

Spoiler: Battle of Wits lyrics
Edgeworth: (Spoken) We call Miss Vasquez to the stand...

Vasquez:
My name is Dee Vasquez
I am a producer
For Global Studios

Edgeworth:
On the day of the murder
You were in the second studio...

Vasquez:
Yes, as everyone here knows.
You will find that my alibi is airtight.
We were trapped at the studio, you see.
Mr. Monkey had fallen, and he was not cleared
Until a half an hour before three.

Nobody left the studio
Though we did take one 15 minute break
That was at 2:30, if you'd like to know
Sal and I each ate a T-bone steak.

Phoenix: (spoken) OBJECTION!

Vasquez: (spoken) Don't bang on your desk. It irritates me.

Phoenix: Ah...right, well...You say you ate a T-bone steak, but I say

you did not! Your plates at Studio Two were completely bare... Doesn't

that seem a little odd?

(sung) You would think that there would be a bone
If you'd really ate a T-bone steak

Vasquez: (spoken) Very clever, Mr. Wright. But what does that mean?

What are you insinuating?

Phoenix: Insinuating? Well...

(sung)
Since we know you weren't
Eating your lunch with Sal
I submit to the court, that you, Dee Vasquez
Killed Jack Hammer yourself!

Edgeworth: Wright!! What kind of stunt are you trying to pull?!

Vasquez: Silence! Let him claim what he wants...Mr. Wright.

(Sung)
You say that I did it? (spoken) Very well.
(Sung)
Let us have a battle of wits!

First please consider
The Samurai Spear
Quite a large weapon, as you see
How could I, a woman of small stature
Use such a thing--

Phoenix: (Spoken) I think you could--

Vasquez: (Spoken) I am speaking!

(Sung)
The victim was stabbed through the front
Of his costume, am I correct?
That means he saw me coming
The "Steel Samurai"
How on Earth could I win that fight?

Phoenix: Well, actually...

(Sung)
I'd like to withdraw my previous claim
You couldn't use the spear as we can see

Vasquez:
I told you, I'm not guilty

Phoenix:
I didn't say that, Miss Dee.

Vasquez:
What on earth do you mean?

Phoenix:
The murder weapon wasn't the spear!

As we all know, it was broken
That morning in rehearsal
There was no time for a professional repair!
The costume this object could not pierce!

Edgeworth: (spoken) Wright!! What are you--

Vasquez: SILENCE!

(Sung)
My testimony will be heard.
Mr. Wright, if what you say is true
Than what, pray tell,
What weapon do you think I used?

Phoenix: Well...

(sung)
Please take a look at this photo...
The weapon is right here!

Judge: (spoken) The...fence post? Why...There is a man impaled here!

Phoenix: (sung to a melody similar to that of Reminiscence ~ Light and

Shadow of the Film Studio)

Five years ago there was an accident here at the studio
Not a word of it was to be leaked to the outside
What happened there five years ago...
Has happened here again.

Vasquez:

Interesting...If this is true
Then tell me how I could have moved
The body back to studio one all the way from studio two
I only had 15 minutes to change him and then move
How could I have done that Wright?

Phoenix:
It's simple and what I say is true.

(melody changes back)
There was no need for you to carry the body
Please recall your own testimony!
The studio van was parked nearby
All you had to do was put his body in and drive!

Vasquez: (spoken) Hm...You're more clever than I thought. Alright. You

win. It was fun.

Phoenix: I...win?!

Jeeze, I haven't been on in a bit. @___@' It's been busy. Work, commissions, and other things, y'know? @__@ BUT I think I'm caught up enough. ^^'''' Lots of auditions, hn? <3

I keep trying to figure a tune for Oldbag's songs so I can seriously demo something that ISN'T April May, but I just...I'm not great at tunes after lyrics. XD' I'm better at having a tune, then writing lyrics FOR it.

...I'm thinking about trying out for Cody Hackins, just for fun. XD But I'm having trouble coming up with a character trait for his voice that I like. I debated on having him speak as if his two front teeth are loose or missing, but figured out pretty quickly that wouldn't work:

"When the moon ith bright with pale moonlight, and trouble ith nearby,
Only one man fighths for what ith right, the THTEEL THAMORAI!"

XDDDDD Hard to sing that way, too. There are a lot of "s"es in that song. XDDDD

OFFTOPIC: Please tell me I'm not the only one here who sees the subject line of this thread and finishes the sentence with "...Gods of Death love apples." XDDD''''' EVERY TIME I see it, I have to say that. XDDD

I finally found a way to record my cello! :) Unfortunately it's after midnight in the UK so I'll have to wait until tomorrow before I can actually record anything. Sorry it took me so long. I'll post something here just to see if the sound quality is sufficent before I go and record everything I need to properly apply.

HAVE A NICE DAY :D

EDIT:

:takethat:

I....think I figured out Audacity? Good lord.

I'll Be There forever...hopefully not forever.

It's not the best take, but it's the one I was working with. I'm sure I'll continue to sing this song over and over and over and over forever, and make a ton of takes of it. ....I'M SURE YOU'RE ALL LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT.

Err...prepare to be distinctly underwhelmed.
I'm kind of out of practise with the cello, my teacher's been away for nearly a month and with exams and all I haven't had much time to practise...So it's pretty riddled with errors >_<

http://media.putfile.com/cello-60-68

I'll try and come up with something better later, but that's just to show the kind of sound quality I can record.

Leeness, I really liked that! There was one part when I thought you were a little bit too quiet but then you crescendoed (sp?) so it made sense. :) The only thing I would say is that sometimes it sounded like you were trying to hit notes that were just a little too high for you? I'm no expert on singing though, so I could be wrong.

Leeness--Yes! You figured out Audacity!! ^_^ Great job! I still love how you read the 'BURGERS!' line best of all. Some of those notes are very high tho, aren't they? -_-

Caitlin--I'm not an expert on the cello at all, but that sounded wonderful to me! Do you play anything by ear? Because right now in Make it Right, I have a solo string part during the instrumental break when Maya starts the line "and that's what she said" all the way to Phoenix's line "When I stop to think..." (I have a synthesized violin in there right now). Here's a link to the song if you need it:
http://www.last.fm/music/Ff3girl/_/Make+it+Right

If you're feeling ambitious, maybe you could record that line on audacity and send it to me? ff3girl@aol.com

No pressure, of course. :-P

Lol, Ness--"And your FOOD." Nice job on I'll Be There again! And I like the improvisation!

I'm thinking about altering the song slightly to make it less super-high too. After hearing all the high notes sung properly (by you and Pooleterson in particular), the distance from Phoenix's part is a bit too great whenever I wanted them (as someone else mentioned) "closer together"...

It wouldn't be too hard to change either. It'd mainly be minor differences in the last verse.

Thanks guys. X3 Yeah, it wasn't the best take, but it was the first with the better mic. Heh.

TB, don't get rid of the "Through thick and thin"! I'm really starting to like singing that, 'cause it really forces me to go for it if I don't want to sound like I'm calling a dog. Though, yes, there are a few lines ("For truth and justice we will fight") where Maya is so much higher. But I tried to bring it "closer together" at the end. :)

I'm guessing the "And if you're with me, we'll make it through..." etc? X3 I wanted to kind of make it emotional in that part, and I tried to turn it up, heh. And no, you're definitely not wrong about it being really high for me. XD I can hit them if I try. Just gotta take a reeeeeal big breath before the note. Haha. :)

Heck yes! LOL A lot of people have worked on stuff before they auditioned... I think we're kind of... open! Really though, don't feel like you have to.

On another topic... Script-writers! If you don't get your act together and start writing stuff, I'm totally going to apply for one of the writing positions and steal it from you...! :-P I wanna see more script so that we can feel like there is still some progress being made. I keep worrying a lot about our work losing momentum... let's keep it going!

Edit: Audacity really isn't too bad once you play around with it a bit. Its just new for some of us here and for some of us it was intimidating. Really, it's just a program in which you can record parallel audio tracks on top of each other and then edit them if you want to.

Happy belated birthday, Bun!

End of the year winding-downyness still making it a little crazy. My time is reduced basically to lurking. But hey, I'm still here! Ooh, I DIG the celo playing. I played for a few years but I don't own mine any more. Leeness, I liked your I'll Be There! Very cute, especially the improvisation! At parts though I thought you sounded a little nasal, you could work on opening up more when you sing. Breathing more from your diaphragm and keeping aligned when singing can help.

Anyway, that's about it. Great contributions recently! :phoenix:

Okay, I'm sending it.....NOW.

!!! It's done! I sent it away! I hope it was to the right e-mail address. Man, I get worked up so easily.

In other news, I sent the cello part you asked for, ff3 girl :) Hopefully I managed to record it properly.

(Can I say happy birthday too, TriforceBun? I would have said it on the actual day but I was worried I hadn't actually posted enough in this thread and you'd have been all 'who the heck is she?' but now I feel confident enough to post stuff here.) :)

Sorry I haven't been active lately, guys! Lots of end of the year-winding-down stuff, as Pooleterson said, along with being involved in two concurrent rehearsal processes... it's a lot of stuff.

Though perhaps if there were tenor something tenor to sing tenor that might tenor be tenor of relative tenor importance... I may consider tenor coming out of tenor hiding.

Tenor.

I'll be more active soon, I promise!

@Diana: Battle of wits sounds like a fun song :D -will have to try it- Although I don't think I'll use audacity n_n; I tried using it and everything just turned out all blurry and bad sounding.

@ff3girl: I promise you I'll start writing as soon as I get my assignment! x3

@Caitlin and Leeness: Great stuff! You guys rock my socks. :3 Welcome aboard, Caitlin!

@WhiteElephant: I'll have the melody up tomorrow afternoon hopefully. At that time, please give it a shot! ^^ Or if you had your own melody in mind, record it and send it to me. :O I might be able to use parts of it. ^^

Good to see the thread's picking up again!

And now I go back to my cave and apply more aloe to my horrible sunburns. *Hobbles off*

Honestly I don't have much of a melody in mind. I tried singing Vasquez parts to myself in a tune but couldn't figure out a proper one :payne:

No worries! I'll get something up for you tomorrow afternoon. I won't have a backing yet, but it's something. :3

Thanks to Caitlin for the cello part and to TB for sending me his part as Phoenix in "Make it Right." <3 I'll have this post updated in a bit with links to the new Make it Right... there's always room for cello! (I still want a shirt that says that!)
Edit:
Make it Right

Make it Right w/o Maya
Make it Right w/o Mia
Make it Right w/o Phoenix

Edit 2: And btw--arimnaes guessed right earlier when he said he thought it was a bit of music from the detention center at the end. I just forgot to mention it a long time ago. ^_^;;

Thanks lalalei. :)

Caitlin, your cello sounds great with Make It Right! :D

So... I haven't put this up yet, 'cause it's just a work in progress, and I'm weird about people seeing my works in progress, but ff3girl told me to, so I shall obey.

JFA Reprise Storyboard part 1.

Um, um, um.... it's just in people-frames at the moment, with no detail, but...yeah. ._. When I finish the mapping out, there will be more movement to von Karma, because he's rather stationary at the moment, other than the end. More movement, more detail...yes. And I figured out what I'm going to do with bringing in Mia, because I was struggling with it earlier (read: two weeks ago, but I'm a procrastinator).

Yeah. ._.

I HAVE ANOTHER DUMB QUESTION which I'm sure you're all pleased about...

Who am I supposed to send my application to? I tried applications@popdrivel.com like the page said, but I just got my mail returned to me... Should I just PM it to Ethed instead?

Also, that is SO cool hearing the cello part in with everything else.
Loving the storyboard Leeness, it made me laugh when Von Karma has the giant exclamation mark above his head :P
