Still, the darkened colour scheme and lighting! The artistic and copious spray and spatter of blood! The Kurain Master symbol smeared in dripping blood on the stone lantern! The obsessive intensity in Phoenix's eyes!

Oh thanks, Yeah, but I think it needs a little more work for public display.
I should be doing something a bit more useful at the moment. Maybe in summer, when it's too hot to do anything else.In the meantime, it seems the 'Maya Union' had another event last month, how'd I miss it? Unfortunately for us it seems a lot of them wrote fanfic rather than fanart.

Bah... Since we're moving soon, I had to clean up all day on Monday, so I'll have to write that fic later. I should write a summary down somewhere so it stays fresh in my head...
[EDIT: Ok, since I was kinda curious I looked up its origins on Wikipedia (because everything on there's totally accurate
). Apparently it's only been around since 1959, and there's no reason for it (besides the obvious) other than to go along with some holiday in the US. Now you know!]

That was pretty good. The author isn't half bad at writing P/M fics. Loved all the burger references and thoughts about the various Samurai TV shows. He (or she?) managed to capture everything that's going through Maya's head at any given moment.

We know they'd be crazy not to localise it...but our perspectives as obsessed fans on the ground is somewhat different to Capcom/level 5's perspective of us in Japan I suppose. Every article's picked up the Japan-only thing, so depressing

It's the best thing since PW3! Amusing (since he's mechanically repeating his sprite actions) but imposing! After this, they should do a 3DS rerelease of all the old PW games with cutscenes and enhancements etc. (Apollo Justice 2? Oh *yawn*. I said this TRAILER is the best thing since PW3...) It's a better idea than an anime, also. I doubt it will happen though...
I don't know about Professor Layton, didn't pass my 5min boredom test (Phoenix passed with flying colours ♥) I don't think of those kind of puzzles as 'fun', you know? Not the one they used for the opener at least, inductive reasoning and critical thinking are way more interesting anyway.. I assume the puzzles are embedded in a compelling story (less embedded and more incidental than GS if the reviews are anything to go by.) Maybe I'll give it another try now (<-look, they'd be crazy not to sell this!)
But if the puzzles are now about 'contradictions' they now seem like more palatable kinds. Anyway Phoenix is ample lure to complete boring puzzles, Phoenix AND Maya, we've hit the jackpot.

And I'm sure the fanfic potentials will be immense.

But the crossover game thing dragged me back to PW obsession (I've been sucked into Pokemon for the past number of months XD). Because seeing Lawyer!Nick and Maya, and being animated made me die in happiness =D
And because Professor Layton games are one of my faves too. I love how it has cutscenes and voice acting. And the stories are awesome too. The puzzles aren't so much used to advance the plot, in fact, sometimes it feels a bit unnecessary, but I find it more of an Point-and-click adventure story game than a pure puzzle game. But I thought the puzzles are fun.
So yeah, best. news. ever.
I also can't wait to hear the soundtrack, because both games have awesome music :D

Somehow, I don't think they will touch that. I'm not even sure if they will explain how Nick and Maya randomly ended up in this universe (nor Layton and Luke). Since this cross-over is a spin-off from both games, I don't think it would fit into either continuity. Just an AU one-time thing *secretly hopes this game will do well enough for them to make a sequel, even though sequels tend to ruin things*
Not that I mind really. I guess I'm really easy to please or something, but right now, I don't even care how the gameplay would work, or how they ended up in that universe. Just having those characters in the same game and being able to see them and hear them is enough for me XD

I'm not even sure if they will explain how Nick and Maya randomly ended up in this universe (nor Layton and Luke). Since this cross-over is a spin-off from both games, I don't think it would fit into either continuity. Just an AU one-time thing

I don't 'mind' an 'AU', I'm just curious how both the game itself and fandom will justify it. Premise reminds me of MASON System. Ha ha.
Sounds like fanfic fodder. Of course, it will be about 2013 by then... 
I think this is more up Takumi's alley, he seems to prefer 'fantasy', AJ's failings were often where attempts at greater 'realism' fell flat or were jarring with the other unlikely elements, suspension of disbelief fail. GK not AJ is the better manifestation of post-supernatural GS.
I'm actually speculating this 'witch' could have supernatural etc. powers of some kind, though not the evil type... but early days yet and based on nothing since I've never even played P.L.

Well yeah, this game would clearly be 'the reason I buy a 3DS'. Queasy about the potential region lock though, if they do that I'll probably buy an American 3DS or hope there's a jailbreaker or something. If they're insane enough not to localise this I'll just have to buy the JP version, at least you can see the graphics!

There's certainly fantasy elements in this game, such as the book that turns things real. And Layton games always have fantasy elements to them as well. Which makes me wonder, you think Maya's channeling would come into play in the game? Though I think if she did, she might end up being accused of as a witch.
And also, the setting is kinda Medieval Europe, the main characters all stick out like sore thumbs (esp Nick in his bright blue suit XD), how did they not get accused of witchcraft XD
