Does writing one since November count? Because if so I did.

It actually didn't start out as a P/M story, believe it or not. It just sort of turned in to one. They're a hard pair to not turn in to a couple.

Ah! A Phoenix/Maya story of significant length. I'll be sure to give it a read when I have the time.

One thing I want to do as a long-term project is expand my "Unabridged Turnabout" (sans the Maya Fey: Ace Attorney bit) to try to explain the 7 years between T&T and AJ, including making the MASON investigation work within that context.

CR is back? Wow! About time!

Also for those of you looking for a great P/M fic, I super suggest nevertalks fic. It's amazing. I wish she (he? I actually have no idea) would write more.

I'm a guy, even if I can be a big sap in my writing sometimes. :pearl-blush: And thank you. I recommend yours right back because it's infinitely better.

I'm working on the sequel, actually, but it's veeeerry slow going. It feels like I'm writing a novel with the world's most awkward pacing. More than just Phoenix and Maya I want to tell what happened to everyone during those seven years and I'm not even done with the first yet.

Here's a random preview snippit!
Spoiler:
There was a rapping on the door to the office. Phoenix quickly logged out of his email, just in case, but in the time it took for him to do that Trucy had already left the couch. The little girl opened the door and gave her well rehearsed line.
“Welcome to the Wright Talent Agency, where you’ve always come to the Wright place!”
Phoenix smirked to himself. No one ever liked his name puns but Trucy.
“…Talent Agency?”
The smirk on Phoenix’s face was knocked from his face by the leaping of his heart. Even when laced with confusion, that voice was as unique as ever. He dashed for the door despite his reservations.
“I bet you’re another magician!” Trucy continued. “I like your costume. It’s pink like mine! It needs something, though… a hat, I think.”
Phoenix appeared in the doorway, saving Trucy from a firm lecture on both the color of the visitor’s “costume” and how it was in all actuality a suit. The two men just stared each other down for a short time leaving Trucy to look back and forth between them, attempting to interpret the meaning of the look.
Edgeworth spoke first. “Wright, you look like a bum.”
Phoenix shrugged in return. “And you look like you crawled out of the 19th century. Come on in.”

Aww thank you! My P/M fic is almost done now though. I'm almost sad to see it finish. There will be a one shot collection to follow though. I've got about eight or so stories planned, but I keep having new ideas and adding them to the bottom of the list. So the end of The Rest of the Pieces won't be the last you hear from me on the P/M front.

Thanks for that snippet! You've got me hooked already. Can't wait to read it.

You know, I wasn't sure on your gender either way. Usually you can pick a writers gender from their style, but you write a nice balance in between.

Yeah I'll be There is awesome.
That's a topic, songs that remind you of P/M!
And Nevertalk's story was great if it's the one I think it was.
Great to hear from everyone again.

I was writing a new P/M Epic which was sequel to some of my fics, had to delay but I'll finish eventually.

That brings me to my idea from discussion on other sites:
MY P/M CONTEST!

There will be prizes of PW Merchandise, donated by me, we enter with fanfics or fanart (new ones please?) everyone votes for the best (not your own?) And the ones with the most votes win.

I would have said for 'P/M Day' on Sep 5 but that's not much time... so what does everyone think?

Inspiration struck and I cranked out a one shot. It's not Nick/Maya but it does have them in it. It's the story of how Apollo Justice begins assuming Phoenix never got disbarred in the first place.

I'm a huge NickXMaya fan.
Since the beginning, I always felt they should be together.

I'm working on a fanfic and fanart right now for them.
But I might just turn it into a FanManga/Comic Strip series.
Not sure yet

I just want to say that I was thoroughly amazed by your fic! I especially like that you didn’t have to fall back on the usual P/M devices ie. the card, the bridge, etc. to bring the two together in a cute yet sensible manner, showing how much they care for each other. Instead, you created your own way of showing this, through the search, trial, etc. which allowed more time to focus on the characters themselves. And in the end, it is the characters that make the pairing. I mean, I can get up and talk about bridges and bottles for an hour but it would do nothing to show why I like the pairing so much. Only Nick and Maya can do that. That being said, you handled their characterization masterfully.

Ever since AJ, P/M fics have had to acknowledge the “Black April” issue in one way or another--by going before, after, through, or without it (ie. the AU theory). “Turnabout Catalyst” tackled this very well. Now, writing “through” is effectively picking up the mess made by the debacle that was AJ’s handling of Phoenix: not an easy thing to do well (just look at GS5). However, after what I have seen so far, I am sure whatever you write on the 7 years will be fantastic and I eagerly await the next installment. =)

What she said :edgy:

Right, it's our project to catalog and eventually make a database of all the P/M fanfics and fan sites....

And I thought this would help with the lack of P/M fanfics and fanart around (especially with the CR downtime and all):

But for some reason (on fanfiction.net) Chapter 9 (you know, the best chapter) has the text of Chapter 1 repeated there. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Awwwwww, well I'm sure we're grateful for your dedication :shoe: may be for the best

The idea more took off on that other forum. I think it will take a while to get organised enough to really do anything, actually, but no rush, the fandom isn't going away (I hope). I'd also be interested to know your ideas on what you had in mind, since there's a gap between these things (in the random fan imagination) and their concrete reality...

Well, think about it this way: Just how many categories do you think resources could be divided into? (I know there's hand-drawn art, pixel art, written stories and videos; can you think of anything more?)

The idea would be to divide all the possible resource types into categories, and just start indexing stuff from there. Tags could help by adding a second level of organization within a single category.

http://www.4shared.com/get/7dMU2Wtf/chroniclarge.html

Tell me if it doesn't work, I uploaded it a while ago. It downloads for me right now but who knows with those stupid file sites... I hope it's large enough :/ (And those things are near impossible to scan at all straight without ruining the book, at least in my scanner, so apologies if it's all askew or something, can't remember..

http://www.4shared.com/get/X556tSM8/chronic-small.html

Shrunk version of same manga, for navigation (?) ref purposes. I think I may have de-skewed and cropped the small version a little and not cleaned up the 'large' as I didn't expect translation... sorry if that's the case. BUT there's a lot of photoshopping to replace the text and all so hopefully it doesn't create that much extra work for you you wouldn't be doing anyway with the shoddy scans.

I think I have some other/s but I'd have to re-upload them, 4shared seems to delete stuff periodically... :gregory:

Artist used to have a site, but it's gone... don't know if it moved elsewhere but I never found it :larry:

Well yeah, you can use other programs. Though I don't recommend your email program (which is where I wrote my first few fanfics, the whole 'I am not an author' mentality?). Fanfiction.net actually officially specifies some opensource(???)/free program, though I haven't tried it. A HTML/webpage editor works pretty well, fanfiction dot net is fine with HTML docs with formatting and all.

Hell, I think it might make a good fangame, what do you think?

Edit: Can anyone make me aware of the content of chapter 7, because I'm getting 'mature' and 'porn' flags all over it under this filter.

So after getting up to date on the rest of kitsune's fanfic, I can honestly say that the wait was probably worth it.

In fact I totally ripped off was inspired by one part of the story so much that I actually went and wrote another fanfic myself.

I might post it tomorrow, but in general I try to hold on to anything I write after 10 PM and review it in the morning, just in case it turns out to be total garbage.

Uh, there's no porn; I can tell you that.

Going to go check chapter 7.

It's about Kay trying to figure out if Maya likes Phoenix.

That's an EXCELLENT rule. Now if only I'd observed it myself, maybe half my fics wouldn't be total garbage, hey how about the 'anything you write after 1am' rule? Covers most of my work. :garyuu:
But yeah 'sleep on it' applies to most things. In terms of finalising them anyway, sleep deprivation can help with nice creative ideas you forget otherwise, especially if you have a waking dream or something.

Anyway looking forward to the new fanfic, but, take your time if you need to :edgy:

I can't speak from personal experience. But OpenOffice does seem to be pretty widely used, also the forked LibreOffice (which Fanfiction.net seems to 'officially support' so might be easiest in terms of that site?). Don't ask me which is better.

Oh, I totally agree. The only reason I ended up writing it so late last night was because I had all of these ideas and I didn't think I'd be able to remember them if I waited until the next morning. But it's definitely a good idea to wait. Sometimes I write things that I think make loads of sense at night, but the morning after I realize how stupid they are.

Fortunately, I didn't really think what I wrote last night was bad (of course, I'd be a bit biased), so after making a few minor changes I put it up. It can be found here.

EDIT: A fan game? Sure, why not? But I mean, there won't be much to do... You're referring to my fanfic, right?

I trust you on that. This particular filter has been known to have a very high false positive rate.. As well as a fairly high false negative rate. Honestly, I don't know why my parents insist on using it.

Got to the end. It was a good read the whole way.

EDIT: Hold on.. I just clicked the link again and it isn't the same one anymore. The chapter names are all different and everything. I was reading one where the seventh chapter is just after Nick finds Maya in the snow after she was kidnapped. Also, there aren't as many chapters in this one... It might be that I ended up on the first page without thinking and found something there.
This evidence clearly contradicts your claim!

Totally agree with Eumetazoa, "Love's Awkward" was excellent. Nick and Maya's characterization was handled well, especially Nick's awkwardness, the secondary characters were all entertaining (I especially liked Edgeworth's obliviousness), and the last chapter was hilarious. Good job!

I've gotten up to Chapter Six so far, and it is quite nice. Plenty of suspense at the right points so far.

Hell, I think it might make a good fangame, what do you think?

Edit: Can anyone make me aware of the content of chapter 7, because I'm getting 'mature' and 'porn' flags all over it under this filter.

Uh, there's no porn; I can tell you that.

Going to go check chapter 7.

Uh yeah, I don't think that's my fanfic. :D

That would be mine. Don't worry, it's all teen rated, just like the games.

So since I had already found myself back in the hobby of writing fics, I decided to start something else. First two chapters are here.

So if I'm not mistaken, Phoenix/Maya day is coming up soon. Any plans for that?

Oh Yeah. Damn, I almost forgot. PHOENIX/MAYA DAY IS SEPTEMBER 5. We have to do something! Ideas anyone?

Not enough time for the P/M contest idea to be 'by then' :sadshoe: Though I still intend it to occur :gant:

But if anyone's up for pulling together a quick fanfic/fanart/P/M related thing, that's a good day to release it!

And I guess we can, um, celebrate here on the thread. In our avatars and sigs if we want?

Wait, hey, so that's where you wrote all those fanfics?

One drawback of say, Notepad, is the lack of spellchecker for all those typos. I mean, you sure don't need Word for that, you can use your browser even (or email program. haha). But a problem with Word is it's fine for fanfiction.net, but if you copy-paste it elsewhere you lose all the formatting like italics and whatever, much better to use the HTML editor so you can post it to multiple sites. (yeah fine, Word does an HTML export but there's a lot of extraneous garbage...) Then again maybe a lot of people don't use italics?

I wonder who came up with the name. Microsoft WORD. Creative.

One thing it doesn't do is keep track of that MESS when your fanfic consists of writing all your scenes out of order and trying to figure out how to best arrange them :godot:

You don't write your fanfics in a sequential fashion? Oh, that could be handy. That way if you get a good idea but it's not going to be for a while, you can just write it down and organize it later. I'd try doing that, except I'm already disorganized enough as it is.

I could definitely write some stuff for P/M Day, I've already got a couple of ideas floating through my head. Never been much of an artist though, so I can't help on that front. :payne:

I space my story out and try to keep my scenes in some semblance of an order. I don't usually type out later scenes either unless I'm struck with inspiration. I just put down the lines in note form then conform them to the story when I get to that part.

I think I'll release my first chapter for P/M Day. That way even if I never finish this thing I'll at least have shown something.

I only really do oneshots so I usually get to the good stuff pretty quickly when I'm writing :B

I'd love to do something for P/M day, but I'm low on inspiration and I'm busy beta-ing something for icer, so it might have to wait. >_>
