Hello! This is Sarah and Mari Williams (Ff3girl and ThePhantomOtaku). We thought since we're both sisters, we should try out together for Mia(ff3girl) and Maya(phantomotaku) together. Let us know what you think. ^_~

I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon and post up my own auditions.

My singing is unaccompanied; sorry.

http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/SG/Tessitura.mp3 <-- My full comfortable singing range. (D3 - Ab5)

http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/SG/Classical.mp3 <-- Classical style; singing "The Waves of the Sea" by George Frideric Handel.

http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/SG/Jazz.mp3 <-- Jazz/Pop style; singing "Corner Pocket"; unsure of the composer.

http://www.rpgclassics.com/staff/SG/Monologues.mp3 <-- My monologues/dialogues as Phoenix.

You know, I've been thinking. My Gant and Grossberg sound exactly the same. So do my Wellington and Redd.

Me as Grossburg

It's really bad, because I can't do it quietly, and I had to try. Yeah. It's not good, not good at all. Hopefully next time I'll be able to use what I imagined his voice to sound like without having to worry about people staring at me. *Sigh...*

The Doctor:

Alright, I'll give it 2 ye straight, it was about a 5/10. He sounds too... well, he sounds almost creepy and dark to be honest... or like he didn't clear his throat enough. Maybe if ye could make it a bit more... cheerful?

Hang on, I think I have an old Grossberg impression with me somewhere.....

Ah! Found it!

http://media.putfile.com/Grossberg-Demo

Edit: One more, this is a much deeper Redd... I also made an error while speaking at one point, but to be honest, it's hard to notice it.

I don't think this is better than my previous one, but....

Redd 2: http://media.putfile.com/Redd-2

I just heard MMG... I'm NOT singing it at the normal pace. In fact, it'll be MUCH slower when I sing it, since it'll still have to be as Redds voice... and I'm only singing the first 8 lines, since that's all I can fit in the time limit.

Hey guys. I went ahead and wrote, played, sung, and recorded a little ditty...it's from the part of case 4 where Gumshoe offers to lend Maya and Phoenix either Missile, the fishing pole, or the metal detector. I figured it might be a good time for him to have a sort of goofy song about how he's now on their side and is helping them out because of Edgeworth's sake.

Now keep in mind I didn't have any other voices on hand, so I -had to sort of do my own Gumshoe, Phoenix, and Maya. Also, I did this all in the cheesy Sound Recorder on the PC, so the editing skills may leave something to be desired (I mess up one sung line and a few lines overlap sooner than I wanted). With that in mind, this is nothin' really fancy or finished or whatever, I just felt that it was something fun to do and it may or may not work for whatever you guys are planning to do with the play.

SO, with that long caveat out of the way, here is "The Kind of Guy That You Can Trust," by Dick Gumshoe, Phoenix Wright, and Maya Fey.

Musically, I tried to squeeze in some references to the REAL Detective Gumshoe's theme (you'll hear 'em if you listen closely), but most of the song is a sort of swing, lighthearted affair.

For the lyrics, some are takes on a few of the game's jokes at this point, chopped up and edited to make 'em rhyme, and I derive the humor from running gags from the series (like Gumshoe being poor and Phoenix's sarcastic remarks to him).

http://media.putfile.com/Phoenix-36-30

Follow the lyrics if you wanna:

-GUMSHOE-
I consider myself to be a real man's man
The kinda guy who won't back down from a fight
I keep this city clean, pal, and I live like a king
...Though I eat ramen noodles every night.
Yet despite my gruff exterior, I don't think I'm superior
My skills at solving crimes can sometimes rust...
So now I'm swallowing my pride, this time I'm on your side
Now I'm the kinda guy that you can trust!

Well, I know we've butted heads before, startin' with the case of Harry Butz
(PHOENIX: That's Larry)
And if the chief catches me helpin' out a defense attorney, he'll think that I'm going nuts
(if he doesn't already)
But see, pal, this is different than that Redd White trial back in May
(PHOENIX: September)
Because I know Mr. Edgeworth is innocent, unlike the client you had that day!

-MAYA-
That was me!

-GUMSHOE-
Oh. Sorry.

What I'm sayin' is I care, mon frere--you call, I'll be there in a flash!
And just to make amends, I'll lend you anything that isn't cash!

-MAYA-
Oh thank you, kind detective! We'll leave von Karma in dust!

-GUMSHOE-
We'll find the lies, now I'm the kinda guy that you can trust!

[spoken, over music]
Now, I'm serious pal! If there's anything I can do to help Mr. Edgeworth out, I'm all ears! And any other appendages necessary to get that "Not Guilty" verdict.

-PHOENIX-
Well, considering the past couple of cases where you happened to make things worse for the defendants, it'd probably be best if you didn't interf-

-MAYA-
Nick! Detective Gumshoe is putting his job on the line for us; the least we can do is take advantage of his sudden kindly nature!

-GUMSHOE-
Yeah, pal!

-MAYA-
Detective, any chance you could help us find Gourdy somehow?

-GUMSHOE-
You bet! I've got three secret weapons for this, so take your pick!

[now sung]

Allow me to introduce the department's best evidence-seeking tool.
This pooch is so advanced it makes me look like an incompetent, babbling fool!
I found him in the gutter, on a sad, cold wintery night
He's my pal, though he gives the hand that feeds him quite a bite.
His name is Missile, and he'll sniff out any drugs or clues you need.

-PHOENIX-
Well, I'll keep that in mind in case the Gourd Lake Monster's been smoking weed.

-GUMSHOE-
Hey! No need for sarcasm, this dog has helped with many a bust.
If you feed him, then he's the kinda guy that you can trust!

And comin' up next I've got this fishing pole and my fondest memory
Of going out fishing with this cute recruit, a trainee named Maggey.

-PHOENIX-
We can't catch Gourdy with that!
And we can't sit around and just wait!

-GUMSHOE-
You'll only know if you try!
You just need the right kind of bait!

-PHOENIX-
Like...Missile?

-GUMSHOE/MAYA-
"What!?" "Nick!" "You're under arrest, pal!"

-PHOENIX-
Sorry, sorry!

-GUMSHOE-
And last but not least, this metal detector's real intense!
Last month this baby even found me twenty-five whole cents!

-PHOENIX-
We're looking for a monster, not change from someone's pants.

-GUMSHOE-
You never know, pal, it may have been eating soda cans!

So that's what I can do for you, my loyal lawyer chums!

-MAYA-
Oh wow, they're all so perfect!

-PHOENIX-
Um yeah, I can't pick just one...ugh.

-GUMSHOE-
Now go help Mr. Edgeworth! To free him is a must!
And I'm the kinda guy that you can trust.

**************

Huh...the song and the post both were a lot longer than I predicted...

That was really cool! I'm kind of a critial guy, so I suppose I should say that I think the lyrics are a bit too wordy when they don't need to be at some points...

But, don't take that too harshly, I actually thought that this was really good! It's very musical-esque, and very cleverly done from a compositional standpoint. I dig it!

My thoughts exactly. The main problems are when words are emphasized oddly to fit the rhythm and when important words are crammed too close together ("we'll leave von Karma in the dust" comes to mind). But it's really cool, sounds good, and shouldn't take too much effort to fix the minor problems. It fits the tone of the show and of Gumshoe very well, also.

I agree with SG and MissPrince. The song's very good, but the rhythm could use some tightening. The other thing that's very jangly was the rhyme of "memory" and "Maggey". Those lines could use a rewrite because they don't rhyme, exactly, and the emphasis is in a different spot in the line because of the syllable difference. All workable, though, and I really like it on the whole. Good work!

[not-musical-person] Your Gumshoe voice is really good, even if it fluctuates over time. However, for the love of God, and all that is holy, your Maya voice should never be used for a female ever again...

Ever >_>;

Other than that though, it's fantastic :D

OH!!! I was wondering what people meant by that!!! lol.

There's another program I know of for mass-speaking, but... I don't know if it'll work... I used 2 use it before I got too irritated with one of the people making random noises to annoy others...

Anyways, it's called "Ventrilo" (Not a joke, stop laughing). I'm not sure though, if it can record conversations. Can anyone verify that?

Ventrilo is pretty much like Teamspeak. I may be wrong but as far as I know, many latency-dependant games' communities prefer Ventrilo as it takes up less CPU resources. Teamspeak is a bit more advanced and I suppose also user-friendly (look at the interface alone), but for mere talking, Ventrilo works just as well. A plus is that Vent can have better codecs, too, afaik.

Replying to PMs atm and updating the thread so I can't give TriforceBun an in-depth review.. dude, I love you. That sums it up. I agree with SG and MP. Your independant work is impressive, and with minor adjustments I can picture this scene too well for my own good. :)

Sorry, just checked on the Teamspeak server, and opened a support ticket, only to find out that the reason my server got disconnected was for Terms of Use violations ... apparently, someone hacked my server and was using it for phishing/hacking activities. The only thing I can do is request that they wipe the hard drive and reset the OS. Sigh ... I have bad luck with these servers :/ I may decide to just cancel this server and rent a Teamspeak server that is professionally managed and meant specifically for Teamspeak. Sorry, I'm really upset that this happened, especially since several people were having a ball with it yesterday :( I'll get something up asap

Wow, that was a lot quicker than I thought it'd be. I found a professional hosting service that is very reasonably priced and set up my teamspeak server instantly.

Here's the new login info, the only thing that's changed is that you need to add the port number in when you log in ...

- Server address: pwmusical.no-ip.org:9346
- Nickname: [Whatever you want]
- Login Name (optional): [LEAVE THIS BLANK FOR NOW]
- Password: takethat

Unfortunately, everyone who registered will need to reregister since it's a new server.

But there you have it, Teamspeak back up :)

Oh, and I think a regular text chatroom is also a very good idea to have,

WHOOOOAAAAA, pal, that was awesome! Perfect! I agree that it needs a little fine-tuning, but the mood, feel, and tune are just perfect, seriously. I LOVE IT.

Any way you could upload just the piano part? I already want to learn the song and give it a go as Gumshoe! It'll be awesome practice for my Gumshoe singing voice <3

Thanks for the comments, guys!

Yeah, I had trouble with the syllable emphasis on Maggey, but I wanted to throw that in there.

Also, I messed up the line "This pooch is so advanced, it makes me look like an incompetent, babbling fool," I should've said one part quicker and I had to stuff all the words at the end, heh.

I'll upload the piano part alone in the next day or so, I have to re-record it.

Hi guys! I'm the wife of Shinkinrui, jumping on the bandwagon for this epic production. I have a BA degree in vocal music performance, and have been DYING to actually do something with my voice since graduation. I can sing all sorts of music--opera, pop, country, musicals... Right here are some links to my various recordings:

"Vieille Chanson" - Georges Bizet
-from my final recital in college. This song shows off my range, power, and flexibility more than any other. Go opera. XD Lyrics can be found here if anyone's interested.

"My Immortal" - Evanescence
-good, except for trying to keep the "opera" out of my voice and trying not blast my poor little headset mic with sound. ^^; This is the only one I recorded today.

"The Water Is Wide" - Traditional
-old recording of me, singing a cappella.

...My voice is really tired today, lol... Anyway, hope you guys like my sound! When I get a hold of some scripting, I will try speaking parts. I was thinking about trying Lotta Hart--I can do a pretty good southern accent. I think my singing voice is too...mature-sounding to be Maya's, but maybe Mia's... I dunno. Tell me what you think. XD

After practicing TriforceBun's "The Kind of Guy that You Can Trust" for a bit, I took the liberty of making a few changes to the lyrics so they fit/flow a bit better ...

(Spoiler tag used to save space)
Spoiler: "The Kind of Guy that You Can Trust"

Oh thank you, kind detective! We'll leave von Karma in
the dust!

-GUMSHOE-
We'll find the lies, now I'm the kinda guy that you can
trust!

[spoken, over music]
I'm serious, pal! If there's anything I can do to help get Mr.
Edgeworth declared "Not Guilty," I'm all ears! We're a team
now, see! I don't care if it gets me another salary cut.

-PHOENIX-
Well, considering the past couple of cases where you
happened to make things worse for the defendants, it'd
probably be best if you didn't interf-

-MAYA-
Nick! Detective Gumshoe is putting his job on the line for
us; the least we can do is take advantage of his sudden
kindly nature!

-GUMSHOE-
Yeah, pal!

-MAYA-
Detective, any chance you could help us find Gourdy
somehow?

-GUMSHOE-
You bet! I've got three secret weapons, listen up and
take your pick.

[now sung]

First up, shake hands with our department's
best evidence-seeking tool.
This pooch is so advanced it makes me look like
a bumbling fool!
I found him in the gutter, on a sad, cold winter's night
He's my pal, though he gives the hand that feeds him quite
a bite.
You can call him Missile, he'll find any drugs or clues
you need.

-PHOENIX-
Well, he should come in handy if the Gourd Lake
Monster's been smoking weed.

-GUMSHOE-
Hey! No need for sarcasm, Missile's helped with many a
bust.
And if you feed him, he's the kinda guy that you can
trust!

The second here's this fishing pole and my
fondest memory
of a fishing trip I got to take
with Maggey, a cute trainee!

-PHOENIX-
We can't catch Gourdy with that!
And we can't sit around and just wait!

-GUMSHOE-
You'll only know if you try!
You just need the right kind of bait!

-PHOENIX-
Like...Missile?

-GUMSHOE/MAYA-
"What!?" "Nick!" "You're under arrest, pal!"

-PHOENIX-
Sorry, sorry!

-GUMSHOE-
I've saved the best for last, this metal detector's real intense!
Last month this baby even found me twenty-five whole cents!

-PHOENIX-
We're looking for a monster, not change from someone's
pants.

-GUMSHOE-
Well, you never know, pal, it may have been eating soda cans!

So that's what I can lend you, my loyal lawyer chums!

-MAYA-
Oh wow, they're all so perfect!

-PHOENIX-
Um yeah, I can't pick just one...ugh.

-GUMSHOE-
Now go help Mr. Edgeworth! To free him is a must!
And I'm the kinda guy that you can trust.

Any other suggestions for the lyrics?
As soon as he uploads the piano accompaniment, I'll record the song as a sample of me singing as Gumshoe.

...eeep. Sorry about that. Tried to use the "specify the size" thing to scale down the image I already had uploaded, and it...didn't like that one bit. >.> Then tried resizing the image and reuploading to PhotoBucket, and then it said "cannot determine file size". So......now it's blank. ^^; I'll try again later with a small image of something else.

Ah. It's OK.
Y'know, I think you'd be a good addition to the team.

And speaking of teams, I've registered with Teamspeak.

Ok, who changed the password for the teamspeak server? Not only can't I get in using my details, but I can't log in annonymously either. Someones changed the password from takethat to something else, and I'd really like to know why :/

You know, thats EXACTLY why I should read things more closely XD

No one's on Teamspeak. hoe disappointing. Earlier today, I had quite a nice conversation with Ajerben, Shinkinrui, and Usei, and I must say a few things:

A) Shink is a PERFECT Gumshoe.
B) We have an insane amount of talent on board.
C) Teamspeak is effing awesome.

I just recorded the piano part by itself, but for whatever reason, Putfile isn't letting me put it up. How annoying...

Nice tweaking of the lyrics, though, I can't wait to hear your take on it! If we could perhaps get an actual girl to do Maya's voice, I'd love to hear how it turns out.

(still trying to get this file uploaded) *hits computer*

I think it's a problem with the Putfile site in general, because I can't seem to hear anyone's impressions of PW characters either right now. Dang...

I'm having connection issues with Teamspeak. I've got the server correct, yes? -- pwmusical.no-ip.org:9346 -- and the password's "takethat" ... and it says the server's not responding.

Maybe it's a problem on my end...
