Yeah, families is good. ^_^ I'm lucky to have the family that I have. We were always in music/drama stuff when we were in school, too. I guess we're kind of lucky that we all are still so close after growing up... 0_0 That doesn't happen a lot.

Anyway, if it wasn't for Shinkinrui telling me about this project, I never would've heard of it. I hope we can all be a part of it together.

Firstly, FF3 was kick-arse!

And secondly, In a sense, some of us are connected as friends, others as family, but we're all members of "The Converted", like all other PW fans. And we "convert" others as PW fans!

A Musical might assist that exact idea, eh? People watch it/listen to it, then play PW out of interest... and then they become fans.

Truly, a :bling-bling: Welcome to 'da family for All!

Wow! A PW musical? This is such an awesome idea! I'm a huge fan of musicals. If there's any way I can help with this project I'd be happy to do so. I can sing and act a little bit... Also I can help with anything art related. I used to be art director for our school's plays in high school.

Hope everyone has a Happy Holiday!

Merry Christmas to everyone! (Even though it's Christmas Eve :P)

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas, full of joy and fellowship. Enjoy some quality time with your real families!

Thanks for the offer to help, LySs. Feel free to make some recordings of you singing/reading some script bits as some of the characters you think you'd be best at. Then PM them to Ethed(and hopefully post them here too since everyone else loves to hear them as well)!

Also, since you're an artist(did you make the custom character in you avatar? I like!), maybe you could make some super-awesome logo for us or something? That'd be sweet <3

I KNOW I'm not a member of the official team, let alone in charge of production but...

I have a few comments I would like to bring up:

Firstly, GREAT progress! I've also heard word that other people from different sites are starting to get intrigued by this, but without pure proof, I consider it a loose rumour... but still, SQUEEE!!!

Secondly, I'm wondering if anyonce has any idea for 1-1's case? We have actually completed a laaarge portion of 1-2 and 1-3, thanks to many of the staff members here! You guys rock, eh?

Thirdly, I would like to ask a question to a few members: I see a few ideas for songs, and some are full audio clips! However... does anyone have any ideas for what instruments could go with each character?

Fourthly, I would like to ask for opinions for how people believe certain characters that have not been brought up yet (and some that have...), should sound. For example, Butz, Sahwit, Yogi, and Sal. Sal especially. 2 ideas have been brought up concerning his "l33t" speaking.

1. Types up the slang, and it's pronounced by a computer.
2. Actually says some of the words himself.

With the latter, some lines, like the "rocksores" joke, would benefit greatly. So I would like some opinions.

Fifthly, I hope all have a Merry Christmas, or Happy Holidays, whatever your flavor of the 25th!

Final comment: Have a nice day, eh? Also, a question for some of the producers, concerning myself:

For Redd and Grossberg, I need a few other clips, obviously. Could anyone help me in making up some ideas for clip content? One idea is, as stated earlier, to say "SPLENDIFEROUS!!!", which I can do... but I think I need to train a biiiit more first, so I would like a few opinions on content.

Ciao!

The OP states who is working on which section, not who has completed them. I'm writing 1-1, and 1-2 and 1-3 are nowhere near finished. Furthermore, the musical won't solely consist of character introduction songs so it will be more a question of how instruments are used rather than which - while of course brass works for this or that character and a clear piano ballad is for another, I don't find it too authentic to jump from classical to techno. All this however is nowhere near decided yet, the script writing is still going. Again, I appreciate the enthusiasm, but if the fundament is neglected, this is not going anywhere.

Regarding how characters should sound, basically, I'm taking in all voice actor applications and advise people to try out for several roles. At this stage though when the actors don't even know what lines to practice yet it's hard to tell him how exactly to do something. I want applications to experiment freely and send in something they are comfortable with and convinced of. Ask Atomicscribble how nitpicky I was with her, haha... Also, remember - beggars can't be choosers. [edit: scroll down a few posts for explanation of that statement XD]

Thanks for the well-thought-out, down-to-earth post :) I don't think I'd be good at writing a script, otherwise I'd be happily helping out with that. It seems to me that you've got a pretty good team put together to build the foundation and direction this will take, with you leading. I look forward to seeing this develop more and more!

In regards to that last remark ... what exactly do you mean by it? Are you saying the people who are applying to be voice actors should not be too picky about which role they want? If so, I completely agree. In fact, one of my earlier posts said that everyone should try out for the most important roles so that we get the best people for each part. I like the idea of being Gumshoe, but if everyone decides I'm better for someone else or even that I won't be cast as anyone, I'll understand. I just really want this project to be seen through until the end, when we have a finished product :)

Also, thanks for the update, Jenna! Looking forward to seeing it!

Luckily, I'm not at the point of begging... I will be SOON, but not yet. lol.

I see the post ye made... Hmm... experiment, eh?... to be honest, I am horrible at me thinking up ideas unless I'm pushed in a certain direction... not the best trait I have. :sadshoe:

Question: For Manfred... would something around the area of a waltz-like tune be suitable for him? I can't imagine something upbeat for him, just something dark... REAL dark.

When I think of the music that would suit :karma: Von Karma, I think of a very deep Gregorian chant... ... ... right now, the only example I can think of is (as silly as it sounds...) the Akatsuki theme from Naruto. Here's a youtube link if you're interested in hearing:

Alright, I finished the investigation day 2 for 1-4 in between spending time with the family. It hit 20 pages before I was done with it and that was cutting out a good chunk of dialog. anyways, as to not overload your server I will be posting it in bite-sized 2 scene chunklets. Any comments would be helpful, so don't hesitate to say something!

Spoiler: This is LONG!
[SCENE ONE]

[Open to the Detention Center. Phoenix is sitting in a cheap folding chair fidgeting. Maya is brought out.]

Phoenix: Maya!

Maya: (grinning) Hey, Nick! I’m glad Mr. Edgeworth made it through the day alright…

Phoenix: Hey, Why’d you do that, anyway?

Maya: (thinks for a beat before shrugging) I don’t know. I…just knew I had to do something. (Looks down at her shoes) I know I’m not the lawyer my sister was…I’m sorry.

Phoenix: Well, you just did save the trial; just behave yourself from now on, okay?

Maya: Okay…

Phoenix: Have you been questioned yet?

Maya: no…not yet. Detective Gumshoe was just here now. (Attempts to mimic Gumshoe’s voice) “Seeing as this is your first offence, we’ll let you got after questioning.”

(Phoenix looks relieved)

Maya: Oh, and he wanted me to get bail money ready. You’re going to pay for me right?

Phoenix: (warily) How much?

Maya: I don’t know. I guess they’ll send you the bill or something...

Phoenix: (sighs and turns to the audience) Why do I picture giant bales of money every time I hear the word “bail”? (Turns back to Maya) Any luck with Mia?

Maya: None…I can’t get through to her at all. I tried…I really did! I don’t know what else to do…

Phoenix: (stands) I’m going to go down to Gourd lake to try to find Gumshoe.

Maya: (smiles) alright…

[Phoenix exits]

[SCENE TWO]

[Scene opens with Phoenix at Gourd lake woods. He stops next to Lotta’s camera and turns to the audience.]

Phoenix: (aside) There are fewer cops here than yesterday, but I couldn’t find Gumshoe anywhere…

Gumshoe; (comes up behind Phoenix and taps him on the shoulder) Hey pal!

Phoenix: (visibly jumps) AHH! Oh, Detective Gumshoe…

Gumshoe: You didn’t have to scream so loud pal, I was just gonna say, the trial today, it, er…

Phoenix: Yes? What about the trial?

Gumshoe: Well, I was going to say “good show” but it wasn’t really all that…though you did save Mr. Edgeworth, I guess…I’m just not sure how to thank you, you know?

Phoenix: Er…thanks. I wanted to talk to you about Maya Fey…

Gumshoe: She’s not out on bail yet? That’s strange…I told ‘em to let her go as soon as they had their report written up. Man…I don’t know what would have happened in that courtroom today if it weren’t for what she did. Seeing her get dragged out by the bailiff…I’ll be honest with you, pal. I shed a tear or two. Mr. Edgeworth, he was so moved I saw his lip trembling.

Phoenix: (surprised) Really-?!

Gumshoe: He was really grateful for what she did, you know. Well, I’ve got to get back to the station. I’ll get the report on Maya and get her out of there ASAP.

Phoenix: Thank you. Oh! Umm…I was wondering how much bail is going to be?

Gumshoe: (laughs) don’t worry about it, pal! Mr. Edgeworth is covering the whole thing.

Phoenix: What…? Edgeworth posted bail?

Gumshoe: Didn’t I tell you? He’s grateful for what she did. Alright, pal, I better get going. Don’t forget to pick her up, okay?

[Gumshoe exits]

Phoenix: (turns to the audience) I never though Edgeworth would cover the bail…maybe I can get him to pay this month rent too?

[Phoenix exits]

Jenna_Darknight: I think you did a great job of making the dialogue sound the way the characters would talk. I'm happy!! I also want to read the rest!! :keiko:

You know what does worry me, tho?? 20 pages for one day of investigation... ... ??? I know from your post you already cut out a good chunk of dialogue, but if all the sections are like that, we're looking at a 5-hour musical... ...?! :maya-shock:

On another topic: Although ThePhantomOtaku is my sister and I might be a liiiitle eensy bit biased, I think she makes a perfect little boy. I would like to nominate her (as triforcebun already did) for the part of Cody. Any others?

Firstly, thanks for the complement I used the orignal dialog as reference, so I did hope it would sound authentic.

And as for the length well , 20 pages long doesn't mean it's going to take that long to read. And this is straight dialog with no singing ,which means some more will most likely be chopped out. The only song cue I included in this script was "The Kinda Guy You Can Trust" as it's been written.

Spoiler: acts three and four
[SCENE THREE]
[Open to the detention center, Maya’s sting on the visitor’s side of the room, sitting in the chair and looking around bored. As Phoenix enters she jumps up.]

Maya: Hey, nick, you finally came! They just finished the paperwork a little while ago, so I’m free to go!

Phoenix: (laughs) Free at last, eh?

Maya: (looks offended) Yeah, but those interrogators were really mean! They were like, “okay what’d you do THIS time?” Like I was some kind of criminal! Can you believe it?

Phoenix: Well, they let you out in the end didn’t they?

Maya: (nods) Oh, that reminds me…Thanks for bail.

Phoenix: Thank Edgeworth.

Maya: huh?

Phoenix: He posted bail for you, said he was grateful for what you did.

Maya: (dumbfounded) Mr. Edgeworth did that…? I have to make it up to him! We’ve got to win this case Nick!

[Maya rushes offstage.]

Phoenix: Maya, wait! (Turns to the audience) Why me…?

[Phoenix exits at a leisurely pace]

[SCENE FOUR]

[Gourd lack park entrance. Maya enters first grinning and followed by an amused Phoenix]

Maya: Ah, fresh air! I gotta say, freedom feels great!
Phoenix: Then, behave yourself in the courtroom tomorrow.

Maya: (laughs) Misbehaving’s more fun though.

Phoenix: It’s not going to be so much fun when Edgeworth refuses to pay your bail again…

Maya:…Right, I’ll be good. (Looks around) There aren’t many cops around today, are there?

Phoenix: They’re probably back at the precinct, working up the case against Edgeworth.

Maya: Yeah…

???: Hey, y’all!

[Lotta comes on]

Maya: Hey, it’s Lotta!

Lotta: (comes over and slaps Phoenix on the back) Y’all really did it today…

Phoenix: (warily) What did we now?

Lotta: Naw, I’m not complaining! See, I did a little thinking. A little self-reflection, you might say. I realized that bein’ a witness is a mighty big responsibility, but I just went up there and started blabbing any old thing that came to mind!

Phoenix: Lotta…

Lotta: So, ya see, I wanna make it up to y’all!

Phoenix: “Make it up”? How so?

Lotta: Well, ya see…actually, I got a bit of information for you.

Maya: WHAT?!

Lotta: That Von Karma didn’t want me to say nothin’ about it.

Maya: Wh-what information?!

Lotta: Now we’re getting to the heart of it! See, I reckoned we might be able to do ourselves a little “exchange”…

Phoenix: Exchange…?
Lotta: (defensive) What?! Information don’t come cheap my friend!…I see you thinking “my, how unsophisticated these southern folks are”!!! It’s written all over your face! Let met tell you, most southerners are WAY more sophisticated that you…I’m just the exception, okay? Well, what’ll it be, Mr. Lawyer? We gonna deal, or not?!

Maya: (whispering to Phoenix) What do we do, Nick?

Phoenix: (whispering back) It’s not like we have any other leads at this point. (To Lotta) Okay. How much?

Lotta: You completely off your rocker? I may not be sophisticated, but I’m not trying to rob the poor!

Phoenix: Huh?

Lotta: the only fair exchange for information is…information. Listen good, you two. What I need from you is information about “Gourdy”.

Maya: Woah-woah-woah! Gourdy?!

Phoenix: But Gourdy doesn’t…I mean, Gourdy might not exist!

Lotta: Then bring me proof that he don’t!

Phoenix: But-

Lotta: (cutting off Phoenix’s protest) I’ll be keepin’ watch from the car, okay? If you see something, y’all come to me first, got it?

Phoenix: O-okay…

Lotta: right! See y’all later!

Maya: C’mon, Nick! Let’s go hunting!

Phoenix: hunting? Wait…you don’t seriously mean…

Maya: Gourdy? I sure do?

Phoenix: But what about Edgeworth?

Maya: We’re searching for Gourdy FOR him, Nick! Don’t you get it?

Phoenix: (Turns to the audience) Why do I have a sudden sinking feeling…?

Oh, also in response to Shin - of course everyone can't be Maya or Phoenix, but by 'beggars can't be choosers' I mean us as a team, of course! We have to work with anything we're given (although looking at the great contributions so far, it's not an issue yet). Say, if we need a saxophonist but we just don't have one, we'll have to render a midi sax track for example. Or if we don't have four bass singers and it can't be fixed digitally, then we can't write as many bass roles.

Reading up on the other posts now, brb :o

Spoiler: acts Five and Six
[SCENE FIVE]
[Open to the criminal affair department. Maya and Phoenix enter looking for Gumshoe, who enters shortly after.]

Gumshoe: Hey there, pal! What’s up? You look out of sorts? Wait…you didn’t go and do something that’s going to hurt Mr. Edgeworth’s case again!

Phoenix: What do you mean AGAIN?

Gumshoe: Whatever, have a seat, pal. I’m here for you if you need anything. Besides money, that is.

Maya: Say, Detective Gumshoe. Do you know “Gourdy”?

Gumshoe: The Monster down in Gourd Lake? Not personally, no.

Maya: Well…we’re looking for him.

Gumshoe: Huh?! Are you out of your minds?!

Maya: EEEK! (Hides behind Phoenix)

Gumshoe: You got time to go wild monster hunting?! How about doing a little questioning for me then?!

Maya: (Still behind Phoenix) Detective Gumshoe’s scaring me, Nick.

Phoenix: Look Detective it’s not like we WANT to be looking for Gourdy…but. Lotta Hart claims she has some information regarding the case. Problem is, she won’t tell us unless we bring her some info on Gourdy.

Maya: Try telling him sooner next time!

Phoenix: Well, I didn’t see YOU trying to explain it!

Gumshoe: I see, pal. Sorry for shoutin’ at you…Okay! I, Detective Gumshoe will aid your search for Gourdy!

Phoenix: H-huh?!

[Cue “The Kind of Guy You Can Trust”]

Phoenix: Well, I suppose it can’t hurt to borrow one of them…

Gumshoe: now you’re talkin’ pal! What’ll it be?

Phoenix: I think we’ll borrow the metal detector.
Gumshoe: (hands over the metal detector with a grin) Here ya go, pal!

Phoenix: (grumbling) I’m not even sure what we’ll find with this…

Gumshoe: Cheer up pal, you’re huntin’ a monster. Anything is possible, pal.

Phoenix: (still looks unsure) Riiight…Well, then we’re off.

Gumshoe: Good luck pal!

[Exeunt]

[SCENE SIX]

[Open to the boating shack. Maya and Phoenix wander in, both look a little worn down. Phoenix is hold in the metal detector. Maya goes and sits down on the ground.]

Maya: We’ve been around most of Gourd Lake and we’ve found nothing.

Phoenix: This whole monster thing’s a bust. I knew Gumshoe’s secret weapons weren’t going to help much-

[Phoenix is cut off by a series of rapid high-pitched beeps coming from the metal detector.]

Maya: (covering her ears) Wh-what is that?! Did the metal detector find something?

Phoenix: I think so; it sure is loud enough about it. (Phoenix wanders towards the bushes and the beeping gets higher and faster) I think there’s something in the bushes. Go check it out, Maya.

Maya: What? Why me?! (Phoenix glares at her.) Fine, Fine… (Maya goes through the bushes.)

Maya: (Offstage. Shouting.) I found it!!!

Phoenix: (switches off the metal detector) Great, bring it over!

[Maya comes back on with an air tank wrapped in flags]

Phoenix: An…air tank? Huh. Looks like the valve’s broken…

Maya: (disappointed) I thought it was Gourdy…

Phoenix: Maya…first of all, why would Gourdy be in the Bushes?! And secondly, why would a metal detector react to a sea monster?
Maya: Oh, right…

Phoenix: Huh…there’s something wrapped around this air tank…It looks like…a string of flags?

Maya: Well, we might as well take it with us now that we’ve found it. C’mon Nick, let’s keep looking for Gourdy.

Phoenix: (holds the air tank under one arm and the metal detector in the other) Great…

Hmm. It's brilliant buuutttt.....

The Missile thing is too funny to leave out. Perhaps Maya could sneak him out the police station or something like that; I really want to see Larry getting attacked! But as I said, top notch work Jenna :3

Okay, so I should be able to get an audition from my friend tomorrow. I know we already have the perfect Phoenix, but he can do a convincing accent too. So I'm going to have him try out for Edgeworth.
I'm afraid it might not be as professional as my auditions since I might be recording it from my home instead of the studio.

I modified the script to get it in there actually, it's in scene seven.

Spoiler: Scenes Seven and Eight
[SCENE SEVEN]

[Open to the Samurai Dog stand. A large inflatable Steel Samurai is in the background with flags strung around. Maya and Phoenix enter.]

Phoenix: What is that thing?

Maya: The Steel Samurai, Nick. Duh!

Larry: [runs on] Yo, Maya!

Phoenix: Larry! (Gestures to the Steel Samurai) What is this?

Larry: Oh, it was my girl Kiyance’s idea…She was all, “if you like, put this here, it would be, like, really cool!” Dude, she gave it to me along with the banners!

Maya: wow! That’s really impressive that she could find those for you!

Larry: Well, she knows a lot of people. That show’s finished now anyway, so she got ‘em for free.

[Gumshoe comes on with Missile. He strides over to join the group waving cheerily.]

Gumshoe: Hey pal!

Phoenix: Detective!…Why’s Missile here?

Gumshoe: I thought I help you look for Gourdy with him, but-

[Gumshoe it cut off by a series of high pitched barks from missile, who pulls his leash out of Gumshoe’s hands and tears into the samurai dogs.]

Gumshoe: Whoa, hey!

Larry: My Samurai Dogs! [Tries to save the few remaining dogs but fails. Missile trots back out over to Maya. Gumshoe hastily rushes over and grabs his leash.] My samurai dogs…that cannibal ate them all, dude!

Gumshoe: I’m going to go check out in the woods before he tries to make you pay. See you over at the precinct pal. (Hastily heads off-stage left, dragging Missile with him.)

Phoenix: (to Gumshoe’s retreating form) Right…(to Larry) Hey, Larry. Was that big…thing up there before?

Larry: (attention is torn from his lost Samurai Dogs) Huh? Oh! The big guy? I’ve had that for about a month…yeah. It’s a big hit with the kids!

Phoenix: Then why wasn’t it here yesterday?

Larry: The…um…the compressor was busted…

Phoenix: Compressor?

Larry: Yeah, see that little unit right by the stand? It pumps the air into the Steel Samurai! It broke a little while ago so I sent it in for repairs.

Phoenix: Huh, and here I thought you inflated it yourself...Hey, Larry I wanted to ask you about something…(sets down the metal detector and hands the air tank over to Larry).

Larry: An air tank? What about it?

Phoenix: Have you seen it before?

Larry: (visibly agitated) Huh? Me? W-why would you think that, Nick?

Phoenix: Well, the string of flags wrapped around it looks pretty similar to the banners you’ve got here…

Larry: (still agitated) M-must be a coincidence! There’s strings of flags everywhere these days! L-like…elementary schools! And used car dealerships! And why would I need a tank anyways?!

Phoenix: you used it to inflate that…thing didn’t you?

Larry: What thing?

Phoenix: what else? That big puffy Steel Samurai?

Larry: N-now why would you say that?

[Phoenix glares at Larry for a minute]

Larry: (somewhat of a defeated tone) Actually…see, the compressor I always use was on the fritz. So I tried using the tank to inflate it, just once. And…well, it, er, didn’t go so well.

Phoenix: It “didn’t go so well”?

Larry: Yeah…

Phoenix: could you be a bit more specific?

Larry: C’mon Nick, it’s embarrassing!

Maya: Tell us! Tell us!

Larry: Fine, fine, whatever. It’s like I said, the compressor was busted. So I took the tank and tried to fill the Samurai up with that. And then…BAM! The valve busted open and made this incredible noise! And that tank there took off like a rocket and too my poor deflated Steel Samurai with it!

Maya: (shocked) What?! Off into Gourd Lake?

Larry: (chuckling) Sure scared me out of MY gourd, that’s for sure.

Phoenix: what happened next?

Larry: Well the tank thing happened on the 20th or so. Now as far as I could see the tank went flying out into the lake, so I went out every night in a boat looking for it. I mean, Kiyance gave me that Steel Samurai after all!

Maya: so, when did you find it?

Larry: Just the night before last! It flew way out to the other side of the lake; took me four days to find it…Sorry about not telling you, Nick. Actually, I was here on the night of the murder. But you see, I went home before Midnight.

Phoenix: so you didn’t know about what happened?

Larry: no…

Maya: That’s too bad…

Phoenix: Well, it’s not all bad. We’ve solved one mystery at least.

Maya: What?

Phoenix: Let’s go find Lotta and I’ll explain…

[Exeunt]

[SCENE EIGHT]

[Open to gourd Lake woods. Lotta is fussing with her camera set up. As Phoenix and Maya come on she waves them over.]

Lotta: Well, Mister Lawyer? I’ve got all the info ya need…if ya got the scoop on Gourdy.

Phoenix: There’s no such thing as Gourdy, Lotta.

Lotta: What?! How can y’all be so sure?

Maya: R-really, Nick?

Lotta: Y’all got some proof that Gourdy don’t exist?

Phoenix: Of course I have proof. No lawyer worth his badge would make a claim without proof. Here’s the proof that Gourdy doesn’t exist.

[Phoenix hands over the air Tank to Lotta who looks at it confusedly for a moment.]

Lotta: What’re y’all doin’ with an air tank?

Phoenix: that’s Gourdy.

Lotta: ‘scuze me?

Maya: What are you saying, Nick?

Phoenix: There’s a stand near here…a hotdog stand. There’s a giant inflatable samurai doll there. About a week ago, an idiot, who also happens to be a friend of mine, tried to fill it. He used this air tank, and when the valve blew, the tank flew into the lake. Apparently it made a pretty loud “bang” when it flew…

Lotta: A…bang?

Phoenix: The tank, along with the still deflated Samurai fell into the lake. At the same time…a couple was taking a photograph of the lake. The photo that’s been in all the tabloids lately, in fact.

Maya: Wait, so you’re saying that Gourdy is really…the Steel Samurai?!

Lotta: (sighs) Well, that’s a fine way to ruin a gal’s dreams.

Phoenix: Sorry, Lotta.

Lotta; Naw, it’s okay, you win, Mr. Lawyer. I’ll give you the info, like I promised…I overheard the cops ‘round here saying something about a witness. They said he’s the caretaker of the boat rental place up the path here. It’s an old guy livin’ by his lonesome.

Phoenix: and her I thought the place was deserted…

Maya: Well, apparently it isn’t! C’mon, let’s get cracking Nick!

Lotta: Hold on.

Phoenix: Yes?

Lotta: The night of the murder, my camera clicked twice you know.

Phoenix: Wait…you have another photo?

Lotta: Yeah, but it’s just the lake. I figured it wouldn’t be much use as evidence, so I kept it for myself. I know it might not be helpful but, here, take it. (Lotta pulls a photo from her pocket and hands it to Phoenix)

Phoenix: Thanks Lotta.

[Exeunt]

Nice job again, Jenna! Now a huge piece of the puzzle is complete thanks to you. ^_~

Question to everybody: Is there still going to be a time when we would all meet online to discuss/practice/share what we have so far? I know we talked about it some days back in this thread, but it hasn't been mentioned since then... :notes:
