PW1-4: Edgeworth-centric is perfect for me. Edgy
PW1-5: I really liked the forensic portions; I LOVED Gant! Gant
PW2-4: So many twists and turns, and I loved every minute of it. Some of the most interesting characters yet (Adrian, Matt, and Shelley) really held my interest.

And possibly 2-2, just because I was really rooting for Maya. Plus Ini was able to simultaneously frustrate me and make me laugh. Ini Mimi

I love 1-4, 1-5, 2-2, 2-3, and 2-4, but my ultimate favorite would have to be 2-3. no, really!

I...can't really tell you why. I just...do. it's my kind of case, I suppose.

Hmm, Ace Attorney = Case 4 or Case 5. Case 4 was great purely because Edgeworth was where he was, and Case 5 for the awesome scientific investigation.

Justice for All = Well, I've only just got to Case four on this, but it's already proving suspenseful, so I should probably say Case Four.

Hmm, I'm going to be unoriginal and say my favorites were 1-4, 1-5, and 2-4. 2-4 might have been the overall victor for me, but it's absolute pwniness didn't start until a ways into the case. I felt that it was completely wonderful for the last part, but during the long first investigation and tedius trial I was wondering why everyone liked it so much. The end made up for it and put it among my favorites, but again not enough for it to be my overall favorite.

*warning for case 1-5 spoilers?*
1-4 was great because it was centered on Edgey, but 1-5 has to be my favorite overall. The characters are just LOVE. Ema is love to the extreme...she's a fun character whose nonsensical explanations never fail to amuse, not to mention her fangirling over Edgey xD; and I felt that as the case went on she got some really nice background and development--She turned out to be a tragic, yet strong character, IMO. Angel was also extreme love, with her flamboyant manner of speaking, her determination and strength of character, and her beautiful character design. Lana's tragicness, calculating character, and development were lovely. Jake was amusing and once again I liked his determination...also, his attitude was likable and not likable at the same time. Gant was just wonderfully written, period. Meekins was just plain amusing xD; Also, we got a lot of development for Edgey and also for Gummy.

As for the case itself, it's plot twists were wonderful and surprising. It was also long and interesting, as it involved solving 3 incidents at once. The final showdown was exciting to the extreme, and the happy ending was absolutely heart-warming.

That...wasn't supposed to end up that long ^^;;

Awesome story, awesome cast, and forensics. Enough said. ...Even though sometimes the case left me depressed. Everything's so sad at first. XD But whatever.

My two favourite PW cases are from the first game: Turnabout Goodbyes (Case 4) and Rise From The Ashes (Case 5).

Turnabout Goodbyes: I definitely agree with Plankton on this one: Edgeworth-centric. Edgeworth is my all-time favourite character of the PW universe by a long shot and I really enjoyed unravelling the secrets in his past. It was quite amusing that someone like myself-who tends to see the world in black and white, not paying any attention to those pesky gray areas-found myself liking Edgeworth in case 2 a lot when he first appears. (My husband teased me about this as well).

This was something new for me: I hate villians and like heroes, plain and simple. I thought he was the biggest jerk but, still, there was something about him that drew me in..it's almost like I could sense something about him that wasn't directly evident at this point in time. And, I will admit, I loved his outfit and the grey/silver hair. :D (I'm partial to video game grey/white/silver haired bishi types in general. :) )

I must admit, in the opening sequence, I was shocked to see Miles Edgeworth picking up that gun and thought that there had to be a mistake...something was definitely up here.

My interest, as they say, was piqued. As I played through the game, one secret after another was revealed of Edgeworth's past and laid bare. It made-for me, at least-very gripping drama (when I wasn't cussing out the game when I made mistakes in testimony) and hey! I was right! Edgeworth DIDN'T do it! It made me feel better for liking him as much as I do. Edgy

I also wanted to press Manfred von Karma through a woodchipper--one of THE quintisential villians-in my view-of the piece. This guy is everything I loathe which, in game terms, makes him a very good villian! :) You get quite a clear picture of his character-blackest of the black, in other words-and his motivations and what drives him to do what he did. Psychopathic creep! I also enjoyed his meltdown, too--the headbang heard 'round the courtroom! I will admit, vindictive little chippy that I am, that I let the headbanging scene play through a few dozen times before I continued on in the game since I enjoyed watching it very much, indeed! *grim smile*

To make a long story short, I was fully and completely hooked on Edgeworth from this point on...and have been ever since. He made quite the impression on me, to say the least, that the other characters did not. I like Phoenix and company as secondary characters, but I adore Edgeworth.

Rise From The Ashes: Ahhh...my second favourite case of PW:AA. One of the BEST in terms of drama, mystery and a REALLY mega-twisted plot! (Okay...I've been officially possessed by Lemina Ausa... and a whole batch of homemade baked cookies to the one who catches this reference) I also LOVE the Blue Badger! :)

The plot was quite complicated and gave quite a few twists along the way; it kept me interested (when, again, not cussing out the game for the mistakes I was making. It was quite a challenge and my husband and I teamed up to solve it together the first time I played PW:AA through) and kept me guessing. It was a great cranial workout and I really enjoyed the story as it unfolded.

I also loved the stance that Edgeworth took--helping Phoenix to ferret out the truth. I admit, Miles had guts to take on Damon Gant in spite of what he stood to lose..heck, Miles and Phoenix BOTH had guts to take on Damon Gant!

I also loathed Gant (no surprise here) and was happy when he was finally brought down. A nasty piece of work under a shark smile--his character was also developed quite nicely. I never really liked him very much--he always made me feel a little uneasy. He was too nice, if you catch my meaning; a little too helpful in the beginning. Reminded me of a shark as well...

I wondered what the catch was since I could see one coming which, eventually, it did--he started getting vague and most unhelpful later on and I knew damn well he was connected somehow to SL-9. (I wasn't exactly sure how but I knew he was.)

I was floored when it was revealed that Ema and Lana both had connections to the Joe Darke killings--quite a twist, I must say! And the death of Neil Marshall also fit in quite nicely with this shocking plot--and how Angel Starr, Jake Marshall and Bruce Gooodman were all connected together. I like the way they did it. Murder mystery, conspiracy theory all rolled into one! I also liked the gradual unravelling of the clues to present a most shocking truth...quite a twisted truth it is as well!

This case definitely kept me on the edge of my seat and lead me on a merry path. It was very well done in terms of plot and story and it really kept me guessing right up until the very end. I also enjoyed the hard SMACK of Damon Gant's downfall (OHHH YEEEAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!) and his meltdown was definitely a pleasure to watch! :)

And this is why these are my two favourite cases from PW:AA. Edgy Thinks

Favourite Case from JFA: Case 4
Spoiler:
Farewell, My Turnabout. Edgeworth comes back. 'Nuff said. :)

Okay..it was done well in terms of plot although
Spoiler:
the kidnapping of Maya annoyed the crud out of me (I HATE kidnappers!). The Psyche-Locks weren't as annoying as I had thought they would be which, to say the least, was a surprise.
and Case 4 was quite a twisted and difficult case.

De Killer was an interesting villian, to say the least--
Spoiler:
you know he's an assassin but he has morals (not exactly a combination you usually see in criminals of any stripe) and loyalty to his clients.
He's quite a weird duck, actually and a little hard to place.

I also see the transformation of Franziska here as well--I started to like her. Actually, I blame CFTF for starting this process *grin a mile wide*. I read and critqued his "Follow the Fool" fanfic and it gave me a view into her character that I hadn't seen before which, in turn, provided me a deeper look into her character than I had previously thought. (Thanks, by the way, CFTF)

Anyway, the plot worked together nicely and made for some good drama as well. I was really happy when
Spoiler:
Maya and Phoenix were reunited at the end with the good ending. Conversely, I wanted to see what would happen in the bad ending, too, so I saved my game and got the bad ending. Oh my...it was sad...'The 'miricle' never happen'....'I never saw Maya again..' Despite the lousy translated grammar and spelling mistakes, I got the reference and it hit me right in the heart.
and all was well with everybody...except Matt Engarde. *grim, wolfish smile* Another villian I absolutely loathed and wanted to shove through a woodchipper--the little blackguard--which means, in the scheme of things, that his character was done very well. I hope the De Killer catches him, I really do!

Wow....this was a bit long... Hopefully it addressed what it was supposed to.

Anyway, that's why I like these cases. :)

Out of PW1- Case 5. Awesome. It has Lana. Nuff' said.

Out of PW2- Case 4. So many unseen twists and turns. And Matt is pretty gorgeous, if I may say so myself.

See, unlike EFG (hope you don't mind the acronym; I'm a tad partial to them, you see), I find myself more often interested in the villains than the heroes, at least on the whole. I can't quite explain why, but there's just something wholly interesting about understanding their individual psychoses and modi (?) operandi. (In that vein, however, I always loved how Batman himself was just as scarred as many of his foes).

And I have to disagree: I simply adored Gant. I will use this moment to totally nerd out: did anyone draw comparisons between Gant and Porfiry Petrovich of Dostoevsky's Crime And Punishment? They have similiarly cordial personalities, but are always one step ahead of the respective main characters (if not more). I would say that Porfiry, however, had less of a malicious intent than Gant.

Favorite overall? You mean my list of a few wasn't good enough? That's tough. Knock 2-2 off of my list, and - hmm... I want to say knock off 1-5, but I just love me some Damon Gant. It truly was a masterful case, so I can't just get rid of it that easily. And 2-4 was equally well-written: the plot twists (oh the twists!), the characters (oh the characters!), the cat (oh the kitty!), and so on. I thoroughly enjoyed the issues of justice and the importance of truth. Naturally, my Edgey-tooth was satisfied as well, and it warmed my heart to see such wonderful character development on his part. But there's just something about the case that I can't call it my favorite overall.

Thus, 1-4 would have to be my all-time favorite (thus far, anyhow), as I have no qualms with it whatsoever. That case is followed directly by 1-5 and 2-4 (tied, naturally)

AA: Case 4. (Case 5 was okay, but I liked case 4 better.) Through the process of the whole game, you see Edgeworth evolve until you finally see the man he's become in those two cases. A man torn between the dogma (Is that the right word?) he's lived by for the past 15 years and the new light you have shown him. (I know this sounds tacky, but I thought this was the best way to put it.) True, this does not appear until case 5, but case 4 is where the change is biggest.

JFA: Case 4. And here you see the man he has truly become. Finally chosen the light you have shown him over the dogma that has ruled and haunted his life, he's back with a brighter disposition and is an even more reliable ally than he was in case 5.

Case 4 of both games tie as my all time favorite. Edgeworth will always be my favorite character. He had changed and developed so much. He may have started off as "emo, 'Crawling in my Skin'" guy that everyone jokes he is, but he's not anymore. I just can't pick a favorite between the two. I just can't.

which one to pick.. which one to pick...

AA: Case 4 & 5. Because edgeworth is everywhere in those cases *lol* as of Rise from the Ashes.. because it's pretty unique maybe? I got the chance to see Edgey's office!! AND his car!! Woohoo!! =P I kinda like the scientific investigation.

JFA: Um... Farewell, my turnabout. The word 'farewell' makes me almost cry. It's a FAREWELL!! FAREWELL, I'M TELLIN YA!! When I was still playing PW:AA, I thought what will happen if a client is guilty... but we don't know that he/she is... then again, the question has been answered in PW:AA-JFA. So... do all lawyers act like Phoenix? I don't think so Redd White

Rise from the Ashes
Likeable characters, a rather awesome Edgeworth, a twisted plot, a sidekick who isn't Maya and a villain I really, really, really, really, really hate (but who does have a catchy theme song).
It's pretty much the perfect case, really.

Turnabout Big Top
I like this case because it's not about Phoenix's personal story, but more about solving the damn murder. I also like how the circus is a world where the rules of sanity don't apply.
It does have an unfortunate lack of Pearl, though.

In any case, Rise from the Ashes is clearly my absolute fave.

AA: Tie between 1-2 and 1-4. 1-2 basically kicked off the whole series, introduced us to main characters, not to mention that I felt like I was really under pressure. "Crap! If I don't find some kind of oddity in this bellboy's testimony, it's curtains for Maya! Room service! Tell me about room service!" I especially loved 1-4 because of all the drama. "OMG! WHERE'S THE BULLET!?" "Fool! There is no bullet! It was never found!" "No! It's somewhere! Where could it be..." "Maybe it's in... no... no! VON KARMA! YOU WERE THE KILLER!" "GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! DAMN YOU EDGEWORTH! ARRRUUUGGHH!!! *headbang*"

JFA: Tie between 2-2 and 2-4. The twists of 2-4 were awesome even if it made a little part inside of me die. That glorified game over was really depressing. But... I just couldn't keep a straight face when Matt flipped his hair back. He looked so not scary; more like a wannabe version of Vega. 2-2 was really depressing. Maya being set-up by her aunt, that incident a year ago, Mimi trying to erase her past... I could play that case over and over again.

But, these are merely the ones I prefer. To be honest, I love all the cases now that I think about them. Each one is unique and presents a different story all their own.

That's tough to say. There are quite a few cases that I count as "favorites", so it becomes somewhat difficult to just pick one.

1-5 is probably my favorite from the first game, followed very closely by 1-4. Von Karma is a fantastic and interesting foe, and the story itself is great, but Gant, his eccentric persona and the overall story of the case just pull me right in.

2-4 is definately my favorite case from the second game, with 2-3 coming in second.

I can't really pick one favorite, but those four cases are definately my overall favorites.

Going to agree with this. Without 1-2 and 1-3, 1-4 hadn't been so great. Without 1-1, 1-2 hadn't worked out. Without 1-4, 1-5 wouldn't fit.
Without 2-1, 2-4 wouldn't have been as great, and neither without 2-3. Without 2-2, GS3 wouldn't be so awesome.

Rise From The Ashes. Easily.

#1: I actually knew what I should be doing for the first time. I admit, in the other cases, I had been bluffing my way, thinking it impossible to know for certain.
Spoiler: PW: Turnabout Goodbyes
It was the DL-6 Turnabout that did it for me; Mia and Wright had, really, nothing to work on and they pulled what seemed to be absolute rubbish out of the hat; yet it was the truth. I was bedazzled.
So when worst came to shove, I took the advice I was given; "think crazy", and the answers just came. Phoenix is incredibly impressive when you don't force him into presenting the wrong object over and over again. Plus, since the case itself was arguably the most difficult, it made both survival and final victory all the sweeter.

#2: The story itself. This speaks for itself to anyone who's played it; "awesomeness in a jar of almonds", as it would be termed on the internet.

#3: The characters. As always, these grab out at you. Lana was a favourite of mine, as were Gant, Starr, etc. The usual cast also seem better than usual; Wright's not left floundering so Mia/Maya have a moment to shine,
Spoiler:
Gumshoe saves the day,
Edgeworth proves his worth edgily (OMIGOSH I MAKE PUN I SO FUNNY!! Gant ), etc.

#4: It was a proper climactic end to the first game. Not to mention the case was bigger than an Xbox (which is very very very very very huge).

A very hard question, at least for AA anyway. The plots, villains and characters in 1-4 and 1-4 clash equally. Not to mention we save our clients not only from death but from the clutches of the main Villain. So I say that both cases are equal

My favourite case in JFA is 2-4. Matt Enguarde is so horrible and It's wonderful seeing Adrian start to get over her codependancy at the end. But there isn't a case or character I don't like (Even Lotta, Moe and Oldbag :3)

My favorites you say?

Well~

In ace attorney it'd have to be case 3.
I honestly have no reason for this. It just... reeked awesome.

And in justice for all, case 2.
It was interesting to find out more about where maya came from exactly.
I expected her to live in japan or someought xD!
However, what really did it for me was
Spoiler:
'Inis' backstory. Seriously, I remember finishing the case in my mothers car and thinking: "Faceswitch? Holy moly, LOVE." Definetly my fave backstory in the ace attorney continum so far <3

Probably case 2-4. I started it on Friday night at 10pm, battery was running low so I had to recharge while I went to sleep a few hours later, then when I got up, played it all day and beat it at like 11pm Saturday (This was 3 days after the Japanese DS release.)

Just replayed Case 1-5, and while it was fun, it ruined ALOT of continuity. Had it taken place between JFA and TT, it qwould've made alot more sense.
Spoiler: TT Spoilers
Edgeworth never appears in the present of TT (AFAIK)

Spoiler: AA, JFA Spoilers
so they could've explained in GS4 or 5 that he quit or was fired or something for the forged evidence, and Edgeworth's leaving at the end of 104 to find himself was a big deal, and unless he came back just to get that King of Prosecutor's trophy, it kind of kills the plot twist in 2-4. Also, in JFA, Edgeworth learned that everything wasn't about winning, and in 1-5, he seems to have gotten that message
.

But I digress. I prefer 1-4, Manfred von karma was an awesome villain.

My favorites:

Spoiler:
Joe Darke was the murderer thing.

2-4: It was just cool. The
Spoiler:
whole case was just gripping with suspense, and the plot twist at the end was really good. Matt Engarde and Adrian Andrews were really just great characters, even though Matt was the murderer.

2-2: I really liked this case because of Ini.

She was really good as a villain and the whole SHE'S REALLY MIMI backstory was really cool, not to mention Lotta came back, and Lotta is always funny. But she's funnier in 2-2 than in 1-4.

But my favorite was 2-4. :adrian:
