Well, my defense was I was reeeeeeeeally tired, and beat that case at like 3 AM, so I wasn't in the mood for looking at BOOBIES. I also had no idea what was going on in the case itself (still beat it cuz I'm awesome ) But I also thought Grossberg was an accomplice at first (only added fuel to the fire of Grossberg being evil.)

I also didn't notice that Misty Fey's picture was in that case, even when I got to the 4th case.

The magpie bird is associated with the general concept of luck pretty often. I've noramally seen them associated with good luck- unless there's only one.

This was probably picked up from that old British lore rhyme that goes

"One for sorrow
two for joy
three for a girl
four for a boy
five for silver
six for gold
and seven for a secret never to be told"

Thus I think it became superstition to believe that seeing only one magpie would be an omen for the death of a loved one, or something equally tragic. You're only going to see one Maggey (obvioulsy durr XD), so they were probably leaning towards a reference on her endlessly awful luck.

Her obsessive habit of saluting is really interesting too, because from what I understand the common response to seeing a single magpie is to salute. Both out of respect and as a "thank you" for the bad news they now know will be arriving shortly. So while I realize Maggey, as a character, had her "YES SIR" habit of saulting in the Gyakuten Saiban games long before they were localized here, it's still neat that they found that additional connection and utitlized it. :)
