I mean srsly Richard may be a whore but at least he's not a SPINELESS whore. He's proud of himself. He loves to hear himself talk. So of course he talks a lot. As far as stereotypes go, rich people almost always ramble on about things no one cares about. BUT THAT'S WHAT MAKES RICHARD RICHARD. If you guys REALLY hated the snobby, prick-ish characters, you'd hate Luke, you'd hate Redd (well a lot of people do but still), you'd hate Klavier, you'd hate Manfred, you'd hate Franziska, you'd hate Edgeworth most of the time...:D

Early Edgey and Godot make the purely adversarial relationship work by being competent and relatively clever with their insults.
Payne, Late Edgey and Klavier are actual GOOD prosecutors who don't take any enmity entirely seriously, and are out for justice just like Nick and Polly. Not entirely without sarcasm and insults, but they're generally earned when Nick or Polly mess up.
Manny's just an evil SOB.
Franziska had none of that...she wasn't particularly competent*, her insults sucked (it was mildly amusing ONCE, then driven into the ground), she made a mockery of even the lax rules of procedure in the AA-verse, and...she wasn't even evil enough to get a good hate on like her old man.
* Fran's cheating is not a good way to up the difficulty of the game. From a 'writing of fiction' POV, it's lazy - 'let's not bother coming up with a logical way to make this hard to figure out, Fran can just cheat' - from a game design POV, it's a serious screw you to the player - 'hey, you think you've worked out what's going on, and how to win this case? Well, too bad! Now Fran will pull something out of her butt that there was never any hint of for you! Or, better yet, she can bully the judge into messing with you!'

I can't bring myself to really hate any character. Not even Iris. Which is saying a lot, because I usually can't stand characters like her, and I ship P/E. I guess I just love the Gyakuten Saiban universe enough that any character that is a part of it is good in my book.
