Sorry if this has already been done, but which case would make the best film? Also, who would you cast in the different roles and who should direct it? I have ideas too, but I want to see other people's first.

I'm not sure if the idea has been done before, but I know the casting thing has been done before. Btw, 1-4 movie would win.

I don't think that 3-5 would work as a movie, but i would love to know who you would cast as Godot.

As awesome as this would be, I just can't imagine a live-action PW movie. ^^; PW is just too... silly, I guess, so I don't think they could pull off the wierd stunts and character quirks using real people. An animated movie would definitely work, but I'm sure fans would like to see live actors cast as their favorite characters. x3

I'd love to see who would be cast a Godot, as well. :godot:

I think 2-4 would be best as a movie. In many other cases you need to play other cases before them to get everything from them. I think 2-4 would be movie that eveyone could love and not only thoose who have played the game. The whole kidnapping thing. And I would love to see the "Franziska saves the day" scene in motion.

But of course, who else could play the coolest character alive ( :godot: ) than god himself: Chuck Norris!

Seriously, though, I think that 2-4 would make a great movie and I probably agree that live action might not work, but it doesn't stop us speculating about the cast.

I think the only options would really be 1-5 or the entirety of AJ, with much of the focus on 4-4.
Reasoning:
1-4: What makes 1-4 so great is seeing Edgy's change over the course of the game. It's also nice to be introduced to Larry in 1-1. So I don't think it would work well standalone.
1-5: On the other hand, 1-5 would work well as a standalone, because it is a standalone, developed after the other games.
2-4: The main problem with 2-4 is Franziska. Since we can't see her in 2-2 and 2-3, what she would do would be kinda meaningless. Edgy is also more fun in 2-4 if you experienced him in AA :D
3-5: Considering 3-5 is connected to just about every single other case in the entire series... no.
All of AJ: Prolly 'cause it's its own game. 4-1 could be the intro to the movie; you need it to introduce Phoenix, Polly, and Kristoph. They could probably even change it around so that Trucy gets a major role, and end with Polly joining Wright Anything Agency. Then they could skip 4-2 and 4-3 completely (or just give a passing mention), and then go into 4-4, the main part of the movie.
(tl;dr version: 4-4 is connected to other cases--mostly 4-1--but that can be condensed and altered so there's still plenty of time for 4-4)

True, very true, but my only problem is Phoenix. Part of what made AJ so interesting was Phoenix's change from lawyer to "hobo," so I'm not sure that introducing him as the hobo would have the same emotional impact on those who don't know of his past. Sure, flashbacks work, but it's not quite the same. ^^;
Spoiler:
Also, I think 4-3 needs more than just a passing mention in order to make the whole Lamiroir/Thlassa thing more effective.

But the thought of live-action!Klavier and Kristoph makes all my doubts disappear. <3 Especially with those German accents.

Well, if we are talking live-action here, CAPCOM USA never even voiced the English trailers correspondant to the voiced Japanese ones, so, if we DO have an AA movie, it'll be an all-Japanese/Asian cast, for sure. This may be different if it's an animated movie.

As to the plot, a brand new case would be good.

First time answering this kind of topic, but not first topic of the kind =)
So, for crack ideas...
A trilogy would be a decent fit. The first movie would cover 1-2 and 1-4 with a particular focus on 1-4. The second movie would mostly be about 2-2 to introduce the Fey family feud. The third movie would revolve around 3-5 with flashbacks to 3-1 and 3-4. 1-5 and 2-4 would also make good movies.
But I think a TV series would be even better. That way no case would be left out.
I don't know about the director... Sam Raimi, perhaps? I think superhero movies in general are a good inspiration for that kind of adaptation. Just like comic books, AA has over-the-top characters, unrealistic situations in a (more or less) realistic setting and a distinctive visual style / narrative rhythm. There are different ways to deal with this problem, and films such as Batman Returns or The Dark Knight are all interesting points of view on the subject.
As for the actors, I'll have to think about it. First of all, great villains are essential of such an adaptation. Many actors like Christopher Lee or Anthony Hopkins could be cast as Von Karma, but my favourite would have to be Clint Eastwood (the grumpy, Gran Torino version). I could really see Jimmy Smits (think Miguel Prado, not Matt Santos) as Damon Gant. Gant isn't exactly white, but he's not black either (he's probably just tanned), so a Latino makes sense. Smits is relatively tall, muscular, and he's used to playing charming bastards who are convinced what they're doing is right. The only problem is age (he's 53) but with the proper costume / hairdo no one would notice. Besides, Gant looks young for his age. That's all I can think of at the moment.

1-5, because it's the best case EVAR. And, for casting, the only one I know of is me as Ema.
Sad to say, I've left C-R. I may still occasionally come on, but, y'know...

1-5 does seem to be the easiest to turn into a movie. It is a standalone case and doesn't really require any knowledge about any of the characters, as most of them only appear in this case.

But it would be even better if they replaced edgeworth with Godot because I really want to see how he would be translated onto screen, and who would play the part. Or instead of that they should make "Godot: the Movie" so that we can have Edgeworth who is almost as great as Godot. Why is it that all the best characters are the prosecutors?

I think the best thing they could do is have most of the cases be a TV series, and have 1-5 be a movie.

I was just talking to somebody on IM about this and the most amusing idea we got was Rosie O' Donnel as Plum.

On a more serious note, Edward Norton as Phoenix. But I'm in fucking love with Norton and I was just looking for a hole to squeeze him into.

I think that Jack Black would make a good Will Powers. Maybe Zack Effron as Matt Engarde? I'm sure that would upset a lot of fangirls who only watched it because he was in it. Which sounds awesome to me. I think that Sarah Silverman might make an awesome Older Ema. I've had Ema play her in a Phoenix Wrong before, and it was a perfect match. I think that Rowan Atkinson could be a good Turner Grey. Fianlly, Ashton Kutcher as Larry Butz. Or the guy who plays Stifler. I forget his name.

Come on, you know as well as I do Engarde deserves better than that. I almost thought Aaron Eckhart for a second before I realized he'd make a better Kristoph.

Then again, I detest Matt, so perhaps that is why.

Hugh Laurie would make a better .... dammit, I don't know D: I almost want to say Gumshoe due to Laurie's previous acts as Wooster, but they don't have the same build at all.

If he hasn't past away, for some reason I can see Christopher Lloyd playing Manfred von Karma, or Christpher Lee....

1-1, 1-2, and 1-4 are all one story arc! A movie of 1-5 would be lame, leaving you with unintroduced characters and nothing but a mystery. What of the story of Phoenix and Edgeworth? And 2-2 and 3-5 are super-dependant on the who changing-shapes-when-chanelling thing, along with 2-4 being dependant on the events of the first game (Edgeworth would appear out of nowhere with a ****ing huge backstory) and 3-5 being dependant on the entire trilogy before it, including fillers!

Plus, 1-1, 1-2 and 1-4 actually make sense, save for the statute-of-limitations thing. If the summoners didn't change shape, that wouldn't affect the plot in the least, making it easily doable.

As for actors...I don;t watch enough movies myself to think of any good choices. But all ethnic characters need to be played right, like the germans and the Feys (regardless of the location, they're stil japanese, perhaps immigrants.)
