And don't just say yes.

I just reckon it'd be a pretty cool adaptation. Imagine the awesomeness of live action Edgeworth and Phoenix objecting at each other while the orchestral version of "Cornered" plays!
I also reckon Joss Whedon's writing and sense of humour would be pretty perfect for Phoenix Wright too.

Obviously there'd need to be some changes to the story and such here and there. Plothole filling, and court procedure smoothing out and such. Probably play down the spirit channelling...

But even if it just covered cases 1 to 4 from the first game, it'd be win.

I could definitely see this being a good idea, but then (at least in my opinion) it comes down to "Would you prefer a live action show over, say, an anime?" To this, I would have to say "no." Unless they pulled off a miracle, I really think it would be difficult to do justice (no pun intended) to the appearances of the characters in live action. They might just come off as looking ridiculous (do not want)!

So I guess my answer is that I'd like a live action show too, but only if an anime wasn't forthcoming and if they actually did a good job (of course).

Oh wow, It could be just like the Live Action Mario movie! or the Live Action Street Fighter! Or the Live Action Mortal Kombat!
I agree, everything that's live action is an instant classic, I'm sure there's no way they could possibly even mess it up! I really hope they choose to do a live action show now, it would be the highlight of my life.

An anime of Phoenix Wright seems a bit redundant to me, since they'd barely have to change anything. (except add in some ridiculous two minute long, j-pop soundtracked opening and ending)
Hear what you're saying about the appearances though.

Balrog:
Ahh, but they were MOVIES. This is a TV show.

And also one that's far more adaptable. The games that are adapted for screen are usually extremely poor choices, instead of considering Policenauts or Broken Sword, they're working on movies of games that have no purpose for existence like Gears of War and Army of Two. Or ones that are impossible to adapt - like fighting games.

But the Street Fighter movie is still awesome.

I couldn't figure out why they hadn't made this an anime yet. I'm with shadow - I think this would be better in animated form than in live action, purely because of the costumes. The clothes are okay, but trying to approximate anime hair in RL usually just looks ridiculous.

However, I don't think that a spinoff show (assuming it would have new plots) would be of the same quality as the games. I never had any interest in picking up the manga, since it didn't sound (or look) particularly good. Also, a lot of the characters in this game are very one-note. I think they'd get irritating (especially Maya and Trucy, and depending on the era, those are major characters). You're never forced to hear a lot of random investigation conversations, but in a show, you'd have to hear any convos they choose to put in. I think a lot of personalities would become grating quickly.

Nah, i still think that the anime would be awesome. (when i played AA, was like playing an anime.)
If they make a TV show,
1.-They would f*ck everithing like they did with DBZ, or all of the movies mentioned above.
2.-It could be a serious TV show, like Law & order, CSI, and stuff. that makes PW's magic ;pst.

Well, that's my opinion, also, i think there's a "PW Anime" topic somewhere.

Yeah, it would be kind of awesome.
But if the performers are bad, it would ruin the name of Phoenix Wright and that would be sad. :sadshoe:
So I'd prefer an anime, since it is impossible to have bad actors there. :gant:

I would rather have an anime series too. Easier to portray the characters than live action.

Reading a Wikipedia article, there was a list of upcoming live action adaptions. For some reason Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney was on that list. Seeing how inaccurate Wikipedia can be, I ignored it.

I don't know why everyone is always "a PW anime is guaranteed to b better than a PW live action." Personally seeing how PW is generally realistic (even if some things are over the top and some characters have ridiculous character designs) I think live action would work. The CRIME genre is also pretty popular. I watch a lot of crime related shows and I love mystery novels. I think it could work generally well with an English speaking audience.

Though I admit that, since I love the art style in PW so much, I would generally welcome an animated version more. (prty picturz plox)

We already have two musicals. That's close enough to live action; let's get an anime. (I mean, seriously. You already have six dancing Edgeys in the musical! Isn't that enough for you!?)

I hear what you're saying, and it's not like I particularly want a live action show based on Ace Attorney, but about those musicals...why exactly did they have to be performed by an all-female cast anyway? I just watched the first 6 minutes or so, and I suppose they did a good job of not making the male characters seem too feminine, but still...why? :lana:

It never had to be performed by an all-female cast. Takarazuka Revue is just a popular Japanese, all-female musical-theater troupe who got the rights to do a musical version of Phoenix Wright.

I have my personal sincere doubts that an anime would follow the plot of the games. The thing is, if they had spoilers for everything that happens in all the cases, the games become valueless as secondary merchandising. The whole point is figuring things out, so if you've already seen the anime there'd be no point to buying it.

Furthermore, as we've seen in the manga, the deductive reasoning could definitely go much more intricately than the game's "present evidence" system can show, ie Nick's deduction that no one could hear a wind chime through a cell phone because it's not in the right frequency range.

And yeah, I'm opposed to live-action. As realistic as the games are, the character portrayals are not. And from my point of view, that's a good thing. A dead-serious Phoenix Wright would not be Phoenix Wright.

i don't mind a live action but as already stated something will have to change. character designs will probably be part of that and honestly i don't mind as long as it's done well.

To all of you who are saying a live action show would be srs bsns and wouldn't have any of the lighter qualities of Ace Attorney, you should really take a look at this. It's a crime drama, yet it has a lot of humourous and quirky charms that make it a great show.

Also, from what little I've seen of House, it seems to do quite a good job of keeping things serious yet stil funny at the same time.

I do agree with this, though. However, I would not dislike a completely original series of cases, perhaps set in-between the canonical cases of game. An adaptation of The Official Gyakuten Saiban Manga would be pretty sweet, I think.

In the end, if Capcom ever decided to create either a live action or anime adaptation, would any of you really boycott it (based on the style of adaptation they pick)? I should think not.

a good example of a live action show that takes a serious work environment and turns it into a funny a quirky place is "Scrubs". Not only is it silly but it can be really serious as well. It's also very successful even though they have some very off the wall characters

I'd have to be very picky about the actors for the live action. Usually I find live Action of anime or games (I have yet to see any games but who cares) tend to be amazing or bomb out. I could see AAI being amazing but also I could see it failing miserably and it all depends on the actors and how you want to portray it. It would obviously have to be a comedy, no doubts about that. Moreover it would have to almost mock itself. I'd stick to Phoenix as live action rather than Apollo though.

The few characters they'd REALLY need to get right to impress me:
Gumshoe (they just HAVE to)
Mia-fied maya, Mia-fied Pearly (not sure how they'd pull this one off, but It would have to be good)
Judge( they NEED this one especially it's just not PW without him :udgy: )
Oldbag* (I just want to see what they'd do with her assuming they use her at all)

Characters I know they would get right:
Pearls (cute girl there's ALOT of them in Japan)
Phoenix (I mean...come on!)<truthfully I think the Tanarazuka worked better than most male pheonixes I've seen>
Mia (japanese have a pentent for this kind of role)

So would I like to see a Live action? Yes...but I'd also like an anime more.

I generally thnk a Live-Action adapation could work.

But only if it had the right actors (Casting for people to play Manfred von Karma, Damon Gant and Godot may be difficult).

And the right adapations for each case, (Technically, they could make an entire series on each game. Those "To be continued..." checkpoints could potentially have a use!

'Course they'll have to make some edits. Like, e.g. Objections probably wouldn't be as dramatic. No flashing images, very small usage of emotional/damage sound effects, and the list goes on.

It could all go horribly, horribly wrong, but if they could pull it off, it could match the popularity of CSI and Law and Order.

Will Smith as Godot FTW!
