I have a good friend. We agree on most things, although, tragically enough, not Phoenix Wright. He played the first case, and asked me how I could remotely consider that an "epic storyline". How do I convince him that just the first case isn't freaking awesome? (I've tried using the awesome of Godot to convince him. He admits awesome, but other than that... nothing.)
Tell him "Try playing more than just the first case before judging the epicness that is PW, you dumbshit."
Just kidding. You don't have to call him dumbshit.
You could tell him he isn't giving PW a fair chance. Tell him to think about it. Would he put down [insert epic book here] after a single chapter because it didn't jump right into the action/adventure/drama/supernatural? Of course not. Great stories take time to develop. The Phoenix arc alone spans three whole games, so how does your friend presume to know how epic (or not epic) it is based on the first case alone? Does he know about the whole Fey channeling drama, or how it ties the whole arc together? Has he really seen any twists and turns to the story yet? How does he feel about the other prosecutors aside from Godot and Payne? Hell, your friend stopped right before they introduced Edgeworth. Does he know that, by case 4, you actually feel horrible for a 'demon prosecutor' who tried to toss both you and your assistant in jail only two cases before?
Well, I realize he wouldn't be able to answer most of those. All I can say is tell him to give it a fair chance, and try to play all five cases of the first game. If he still doesn't find it awesome... well, to each his own. You'll have to accept that this is one thing you guys just won't agree on, and move on.
