Have you ever tried to present evidence, got it wrong, and then realized how bad your objection was?

Well that's why we have this topic.

Pretty much, you tell us of your worst objection you've ever tried to make, whether it was something unrelated, you were just being dumb, etc.
I don't have one, but I'll tell you of my brothers to start things off.

Spoiler:
I believe it was 2-1, when Wellington says something to the effect of, "And then I looked up into the pretty face of the defendant over there!", to which my brother presents Maggey's profile, and shouts: "Objection! Maggey's not pretty!"

Haha, great topic! :redd:

(Worst "Take that!"s can count, too, right?)

Hmm, I can only remember a few from the big cases, and they probably aren't exactly the stupidest (as in, I've done a lot stupider). Maybe if I skim through the evidence lists and game scripts, I'm sure I'll remember more later on...

Spoiler: 1-4 *not even in court!*
I...I screwed up the final presentation of the item that proved how Maya was helpful. :toaster:

I don't know what was wrong with me; my mind apparently just totally blanked under pressure... (a LOT of pressure! because, see, it's more acceptable to screw up in court, where you get a penalty as your punishment and have thus properly paid for your mistake... but during this personal, out-of-court presentation, there's no punishment but the eternal regret of not making Maya feel better!!) ...and I totally forgot that she had grabbed that decisive bullet.

I honestly had zero idea what to pick, so I ended up picking the Metal Detector. I thought, umm, well, wasn't she the one who convinced Phoenix to take a tool from Gumshoe when Phoenix thought it would be useless? Something like that? (*cough* Yeah, just rechecked the script: Nope. That didn't happen. :nick: )

Then, later, I looked up online what it was supposed to be... and was like "AAAARGH, DUHHHH!"
Forgive me, Mystic Maya. :Bikini: I really do appreciate your courage!

Spoiler: 2-4 *crowning moment of EPIC FAILURE*
The contradiction in this photo.

I. COULD. NOT. FIND. IT.
I simply could not debunk that photo. Not even with a bunker buster. :edgeworth:

I swear, I must have tried every square inch of that photo before finally picking the right part.

The worst part was how one wrong guess resulted in a game-over and made me have to completely reload the game.

I reloaded that game...like...twenty or thirty times. I SWEAR.

"It's the number plate on the door! It might show that it's the wrong room!"
"It's the door in the back! Someone could've come in or out of there instead!"
"It's the gloves! They... uh... I don't know, gloves are always important in court!"
"It's the person/costume (upper half)! He...uh... should have blood on him! Or something in his hand!"
"It's that dark spot of nothingness in the corner!! It shows that it's unclear where the picture was taken!!!"
...(^Phoenix did keep saying "Where in the heck did she take this picture anyway...?" so I thought that's what I thought I was supposed to prove...)
"It's...these flowers!! It shows... it shows... it shows SOMETHING, I know it!! Just PLEASE TAKE MY OBJECTION, PLEEEEEASE!!!!!" :accordion-head:

I was playing the game on WiiWare. As I got more and more desperate, I gradually slid off the couch, threw myself on the floor, and basically knelt before the TV to pray that my next guess was right. Every time it wasn't, I made sobbing noises as I sprawled myself out on the carpet in defeat. It was truly a pathetic sight. I was rolling on the floor losing. ROFL. :sal:

Spoiler: 2-4 *finale*
The final showdown. Present one piece of evidence to one person. It all comes down to this. I can either win justice for all, or the miracle will never happen.

...I picked the Spy Camera. :nick: And so the miracle never happen. ...Good thing I'd just saved the game. Phew.

The ultimate "stupidity" on my part here is not getting it through my head that the player was so obviously supposed to use one of the three pieces of evidence that Franziska just risked her life for!

But, in my defense, I still believe that the Spy Camera would have proven the same exact thing, no bluffing necessary! I mean, Phoenix didn't even know what was on the tape, but he could say surely and honestly that Matt had betrayed de Killer's trust by setting up the camera in the first place. Right? Right!? I can't be the only one who messed up with that, right...? :yuusaku:

I remember presenting the Attorney's badge once during a Psyche Lock-unlock, when I was, like, absolutely clueless and desperate shouting: "F*** you, I'm a lawyer! BOW TO THE ATTORNEY!!"

Of course, the witness (I don't remember who it was) didn't bow... but give me a Soul-Penalty. X-x

I think I blocked out all of the fail from my mind... I think I'd have to replay some of the cases to remember it again, but I sure can say that - reading your problems - I had them as well xD
Keep coming up with problems yourself, I might remember my fail xD

Spoiler: 2-4 THAT DARN PICTURE
Oh, god, Asa - I know what you mean with the picture! >D
I was like daaarn what the hell.
Look at the face, she's so postiively not wearing a mask!
Look at the HAND, she's so totally NOT holding the knife!
Look at the Flowers, this is so totally MATT'S room, not Juan's!

Nuthing worked. I eventually ended up looking at a Walkthrough instead *fail*
Of course I kinda noticed the trousers, but I also remembered in 1-3 how The trousers were totally slobbing like that on the security camera picture as well, and thought it was natural to look like that when they were NOT-posing *utter fail*

Spoiler: 1-4 Present Evidence to Maya
I had it wrong in the first go as well *whistle*
I presented the parrot, because she was the only one to make that thing talk xDDD

I think I did some super hilarious mistakes in 3-3, but I'd need to replay that one again %D

Spoiler: Re: 2-4 & 1-4
YES! I'm so happy I'm not the only one who couldn't figure it out!!

But, I honestly didn't think about the pants at all, really.
I kind of thought the wrinkles at the bottom of the pants were patterns on the mountains... :lana:
...Or really big platform shoes. :lana: :lana: :lana: ;;;

About your guess on Maya - hey, you're right, that sort of makes sense...! Haha, now I feel like I should have at least made a better incorrect guess so I could justify it to myself...

Spoiler: Re: Attorney's Badge
:moe-laugh: That's awesome!! I've never had the nerve to present the Attorney's Badge for anything, although I always consider it, because I know it'd be hilarious. I wish, in some game, there would be special penalty responses for if you present your Attorney's Badge, so they can highlight just how ridiculous it is. ...Maybe a game where, at some point, the badge actually is decisive evidence of something. That would be so cool.

EDIT: Haha, no, 3-3 doesn't count! xD Forget paper badges -- I want Phoenix's REAL badge as evidence! As much as he loves flashing it, a chance for Phoenix to present it in front of the entire court and gallery would probably be like a dream come true for him!

Spoiler: 3-2
Oh yeah, and I had some major fail in 3-2...with that darn Tear of Emanon. :sawit-mad: In fact, as I was playing, I called it "the new 2-4 photo." I was stuck restarting the game over and over because I totally knew what the contradiction was but I didn't understand how to present it. I KNEW that red ring on his finger was the "jewel" they were talking about. But you couldn't present the jewel they were talking it. Apparently you were supposed to present the news article about the Tear of Emanon to prove that that wasn't the jewel they were talking about... :headbang:

EDIT: Whoops, mislabeled 3-2 as 3-3 -- sorry about that. Dx
Also, I'd like to agree with the first "perceive" issue in the post below. AAAAGGHHH. I must have spent over an hour stuck on that one darn nervous habit. And too bad it totally did not feel rewarding to finally find it. :beef:

It was more an accident than anything, but I tried accusing Payne in 3-1.
I was hoping for some interesting dialogue, alas, none came.

Also... THAT GODDAMN PHOTO

Edit:
Oh yeah, in 4-4...
Spoiler: 4-4
Firstly I couldn't spot Spark's tell at all. I never even glanced at his armpits for a start.
Then there was Kristoph, after completing his perceive where you have to present the stamp.
I forgot I had the stamp in the record so I kept trying to present the LETTER the stamp was sent in. It made sense to me, but of course it never accepted it! I ended up trying everything BUT the stamp only to realise "AAAAH! IT'S RIGHT THERE!"

And Oh god, don't get me started on the Mask the Masque case. I never used as much Walkthrough as for this case because it seriously made me go nuts. I was too hyped on seeing anything new about Dahlia to even concentrate enough on that case... xD"
Plus, by the time I played T&T I hadn't known JFA yet, so I kinda lacked the background knowledge, and the mere flashbacks weren't really satisfying...

Oh lord. This is perfect. Let's see... I was perfect in Ace Attorney. Not a single penalty. In JFA, I wasn't such a hotshot. It took me a few tries to get stuff done.
Spoiler: How come Phoenix drinks juice after such a traumatizing 2-3 experience?
I never even thought of the juice bottle being Max's reason for going to the Ringmaster's place. Phoenix's soul was shattered as I reasoned with myself "It's not the juice bottle. That's retarded. Why would this happen? Stupid evidence." *boom eighty-thousand times* BAWWWW This is dumb. I'm going for the evidence next to the bottle. *accidently picks the juice* TAKE THAT! WUT WAIT NONONO!!!!!" Max: "You got me!" Me: "Uhh... Dammit."

And 2-4, I failed at so much.
Spoiler: Your Honor! Use your damned brain!
Am I the only one who sees some of the connections? "Clearly, Adrian Andrews had the knife to frame Matt!" (I'm on a first-name basis with ALL my clients). "Nope you're wrong lalala!" *boom* FFFFFFUUUUUUU-

Spoiler: Damn you technology! Damn you! 3-3
Lisa: "What do you mean, 'trouble'? What else could he use his talents for?" Phoenix: "This is what I mean!" *presents disk* Lisa: "LAWL YOU DIDN'T PRESENT THIS TO GUMSHOE SO YOUR SOUL HURTS NAO!!!1!!!one!!!!!!!

Ya. Stupid technology.

I thought of two more fails xD

Spoiler: 1-1
Argh, I was so stupid here. When I had to present the evidence proving Stone still cared about Larry, I presented the badge. Well my thoughts were like, "It wouldn't be the passport, that would show the opposite. And not the thinker, she died cause of it!" It only clued in after that she wouldn't have known she would die. And I still don't know why I would pick the attorney's badge, of all things.

Spoiler: 4-1, the biggest fail the world has ever known
It was my first time playing an AA game, and I was 9. I was stuck. And I read on the back, sometimes one press can create a whole new testimony. So there I was, on Phoenix's first testimony, just pressing the first statement, over, and over, and over, for almost an hour. I was like, "Come on! When will there be a new testimony!" Then I looked at a walkthrough, and found out what a contradiction was. Then I knew how to play ;P

Spoiler: 3-2
OBJECTION! Your Honor, look at this! Clearly, using Ms. Andrews testimony, we can figure out that the paint in the photo should not have been there!
Judge: "Too bad. Ms. Andrews testifies tomorrow. I obviously can't see the connection. Hurr durr."
Well, at least Your Honor will allow us to continue this trial without further delay? (Besides, my life bar is almost empty!)
Judge: " >Implying I won't penalize you. *boooooom*
Well, shit. Guilty verdict is guilty, eh Maya?

Spoiler: AAI can be used here, right?
During AAI Case 5, where you're supposed to prove that Kay didn't get the knife of the stand, I presented the Yatagarasu Key, thinking
"Coachen had this knife on him! Why didn't she just take this from him?!"

Yeah. Stab him to death with a key.

AHAHAA, AWESOME topic thereee. omg, seriously I could think of billions right now...
but for me, it was at the last trial of 3-5...
Spoiler:
I HONESTLY DIDN'T WANT GODOT TO BE THE MURDERER :ron-jazz: I WAS LIKE, SO FRIGGIN SAD
THAT THIS WHOLE TRIAL WAS EVENTUALLY COMING TO THIS NASTY CONCLUSION...
soo, when Godot was like 'let's go for unlimited penalty, shell we?' and my whole bar flashed and stuff...

Teehee, sorry Phoenix Wrighto, but I just couldn't do it. so I purposely picked the wrong guy and lost the trial. :godot:
Of course, It didn't take even a time to realize that there's no alternate endings... damnit.

And plus, from the case of 1-5..
Spoiler:
Can't remember which part, but I think it was from the last trial. When Gant was all like ' C'mon, Wrighto!
We all know that you are hiding some kind of evidence for that girl.' and Phoenix gets all pressured to present
the evidence that would obviously look Ema like she's guilty for killing that procecutor guy... :chinami:

Well, guess what. I actually believed Phoenix's 'TRUTH SHELL BE REVEALED NO MATTER THE CONSEQUENCES' thing.
So I picked 'Present Evidence'... like always. It was never wrong to do that in the previous cases.
AND I LOST THE TRIAL. I was like, SO BAFFLED when the door suddenly closed and the message showed 'Lana was
declared guilty' and 'Gant got away' Blahblahblah. I was so dumbstruck and speechless. CURSES GANT!
and the judge -_-

The part where you have to point the problem in the picture with "Maya" I Forgot about the bullet hole in Maya's costume for some reason. This would be bad enough, but it happen TWICE in a row. And I was playing from the beginning of the trial both times. Which means that I saw the part about the bullet sleeve and forgot about it both times. I don't know what was going on with me at that time. I guess it's because I knew that wasn't Maya but the killer and forgot that it was supposed to be Maya. Still, there was no excuse in my opinion for missing that twice. BIGGEST FAIL EVER. (For me that is.

Spoiler: 1-5

Oh. My. God! It took me For-flippin'-ever to figure out what you were supposed to present there!!

I had a REALLY awful failure in 1-5 (same as the person above me):
Spoiler:
I could not, for the life of me, figure out how to rotate that damn vase to look like the blue badger. I tried every possible combination I could think of, and eventually had to look at a video online. Afterwards, after realizing how simple it really was, I felt unworthy to play the game. :(

Remember the video that was used in that case that shows the fight between Jake Marshall and Meekins? It took me FOREVER to find that piece of cloth hanging out of the locker, because I never watched the video to the end. I kept trying to point out something in the fight as a contradiction, and after the fight was over I would always just rewind back to the beginning, to try and find something else in the fight scene >.<.

I also had trouble with the final part of 4-3 trying to convict Daryan. Mainly because I didn't think picking Machi would do any good, because he was "refusing to testify.

Though I can't remember any specific instances from the games, I can remember my lamest real life objection:

I was playing cards with a bunch of friends at lunch time, we were playing President (or a derivative of it). We play with the 'over-nuking' rule and so after someone nuked the card with a '2', I waited a bit- then as soon as the rounds started again I yelled :objection: - and played a Joker....winning the round and the game. :redd:

I had another monster fail a short while ago. Me and kemenar1 were playing 4-2, and for literally 3 hours, we just screamed at the DS.
Spoiler: 4-2
We were in day 2 investigation, trying to find out about the mystery print to get into the Meraktis Clinic. Well, we tried every single thing. But we couldn't do it. Oh, I finally got it. But here's what we never realized: After receiving the slippers, when you are checking the bottom, you actually have to click on the leaf. Well, until I had my stroke of brilliance, we screamed and got frustrated, not to mention wanted to destroy the DS. And the even bigger fail - I've already beat that case 5 times prior to that incident.

Another IRL objection: this morning I objected to coffee and instead had some milk. The first time in...*gasp, dare I say...months! :maggy:

As I progressed through the series, I began to develop a perfectionist streak - I always insist on finishing each case with a perfect life bar, or else I'll mentally beat myself up. Maybe it's because I have plans of taking law in the future, or because...I'm just a perfectionist. XD So I restart a lot. A LOT.

Spoiler: 1-4
Presenting the parrot to Maya. Polly was the first thing that popped into my head when I was asked to present something that would make her feel better, but later on, I realized that it was the DL-6 bullet - the one bullet that brought Manfred von Karma down.

Spoiler: 1-5
Evidence law, evidence law...I presented the cloth too early and got Lana guilty.

Oh, and the fact that Angel Starr couldn't have witnessed Lana Skye using the phone from the prosecutors' parking lot because of the divider? I had to look it up. AGH.

Spoiler: 2-3
I stopped my second run of this case because I don't want to cross-examine Moe again. >_< Definitely my least favorite witness. I forgot how I dealt with it the first time...I have a feeling I just went and looked through the walkthrough.

Spoiler: 2-4
That picture of the Nickel Samurai, yeah. I consulted a walkthrough in the end. And I got stuck on two other parts of the testimonies in the first trial.

Spoiler: 3-2
During that part where you only had to press a questionable statement from Luke Atmey, I kind of thought I was wrong whenever the flashing life bar didn't go away, so I kept restarting and restarting before deciding, "Okay, if it's right, you should have nothing to worry about." And I got it. Whew.

Spoiler: 4-3
I kept presenting evidence to the wrong piece of testimony because I thought Apollo was hinting at it. Oops.

Spoiler: 4-4
Actually, I was warned about Brushel's nervous tic in advance. XD

Spoiler: AAI-3
To disprove that the kidnapping was a family affair, prove that two, not three people were behind it. *facepalm*

Spoiler: AAI-5
...flying Yatagarasu = Primidux statue. Ayup.

:yuusaku:

I wish I was there!

Remember the unlimited penalty part? Well, if I'm unsure about an objection, I save, present whatever I think and listen to the music. If it stops, you got it right. pretty sure everyone on CR knows that already At the unlimited penalty part, the music DOESN'T stop if you get it right, it keeps going no matter what. That got me for the best part of half an hour before I thought, 'Lol, let's show him his picture and see what happens.'

Spoiler: 4-2
I screwed up Stickler's nervous habit. Trucy TELLS you exactly where to look and what to look for. I only screwed up once, but it was embarrassing when it is the only time the game directly tells you what to do.

Spoiler: 4-3
The whole smuggling thing. After we find out about Daryan's accomplice in Borginia, my first thought wasn't Machi, Lamiroir or even LeTouse, it was Klavier. srsly. He mentioned Borginia when he was talking about the burning guitar, and I remembered my friend (who played the game before me) told me about the cocoon in his guitar, and I thought it was him.Strange how he doesn't react any differently when you present his profile, as to when you present Trucy's (which I did to see her reaction XD)

Spoiler: AAI-3
I spent a damn HOUR on that part where you have to prove the whole 'family affair' thing wrong. Eventually, I just yelled, 'You know what, SCREW THIS, I'm going to throw clothes at you. OBJECTION! (first and only time I've ever used the mic for this game) *music stops* WAITWHAT

:odo-objection: This. This is my favourite character in AA. Live with it.

Okay, okay, I checked it.. But I can't. I can't. Damn.

Spoiler: 3-4
At the T&T's-game in Mia's first case, it was the dumb woman with the false name "Melissa Foster". You remember? Good, anyway, I pressed EVERYTHING in her testimony and then, you must see it so (it's not real, but similar):

Mia: Your Honor! The testimony is very vague!
Judge: I don't see any condractions in the testimony! (Green Bar sinks)
Mia: Uh.. uhm.. uhh..

--- After 5 minutes ---

Mia: DAMMIT! I HAVE IT! This is the evidence!
Judge: What do you mean with this evidence? (Green Bar sinks)
Mia: Uhm..

--- After 5 minutes (again) ---

Mia: Ms. Foster! Don't lying to the court!
Melissa: *sniffles*
Judge: MS. FEY! NEXT TIME.. YOU ARE DEAD! I SWEAR IT!
Mia: *shocked* :beef: Uh.. uhm. Sorry, Your Honor. But this evidence is interesting, isn't it?
Judge: AWWWWWWWRRRR... Wait. A. Second. THIS is the evidence! Finally!
Miles: OWWWR!
Mia: Hehe. I have it. Finally. (You dumba** from a 'perfect prosectuor'!)
Miles: He-heh. XD
Mia: What is wrong? Isn't that the right evidence?
Miles: No. Whatever. (Green Bar sinks)

----- THE DEAD END -----

Judge: The defendant, Terry Fawles, is...

:guilty:

Mia: :beef:
Miles: :jazzedgy:
Judge: That is all.

Anyway, to my GREAT luck, I saved the game. And that was, when she was standing in court and Miles Edgeworth said his name. Damn, he's so sweet :3
Try it a second time. Good. I won at the second time, whatever.

During Rise From The Ashes, I would present the Blue Badger video again and again, because I was SURE that the bloody handprint on him had some significance.

But, it never, ever did.

lol I like your logic.

This handprint looks interesting, so I'm gonna present it everywhere I can!...Aww, it's useless.

MY logic was "Hey, the cloth was hidden in Gant's office! I'll present it over and over to him to make him slip!" *music stops* "Oh. It doesn't work? Darn. Let's try again!"

Spoiler: 3-5 Logic is lacking? Ayup.
It's Maya's testimony? Ok! "HOLD IT! Wussup?" Maya: "Nothin' much. You, Godot?" Godot: "Gravy poster." Phoenix: "WTFLOL?" And then you object to Godot, not Maya. I was like, "What the hell? I spent three hours on this, and then it turns out that I ignore Maya altogether? FFFFFUUUUU-

Okay, I'm not stupid...but I've had a few moments. My 2 best friends call them (Insert my name here) moments...by the way, in all these stories, it's the same group of friends.
1.) We were talking about science once (ew) and we were saying something about matter. My friend goes..."Yeah there are four states of matter." I go, "Four? PSH GAS ISN'T MATTER!!" My friend's face was like...WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU, YOU IDIOT..
2.) We were watching E3 last year and you know how on Verizon Fios, you can fast forward and rewind t.v? So last year, we paused it for a while because my friend had to go do something. When we came back, we watched and we got up to live. So finally when we were at live, there was a commercial and I was like, "WHY DON'T WE JUST FAST FORWARD MORE?? I WANT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS!!" of course again with the "WTF is wrong with you" face.
3.) This girl on my bus was complaining about how she wanted an A on something...(she gets straight A's on everything...LA DI DA... :chinami: ) so she goes "I want an A in math!" I go: "WELL I WANT A SANDWICH BUT WE ALL GOTTA GO THROUGH LIFE ANYWAY!"

Yes, I know I'm sad and weird...BUT I'M AWESOME! :hotti:

I know this thread is ancient, but I assume new posters are able to revive threads since they're not allowed to start new ones, yes?

Anyway, am I the only person who was confused the entire time in the latter parts of "Bridge to the Turnabout" because I figured out WAY before Phoenix did that
Spoiler:
Maya was the one who channeled Dahlia? I mean, it was pretty obvious as soon as Pearl said "I couldn't channel her".

This is honestly the only time that I ever felt that the game disproportionately slowed things for dramatic effect. I'm not sure why they waited till way after you knew it to make Phoenix aware of it. I mean,
Spoiler:
all the talk of "Maya is dead" was extremely confusing, since I was like "but Dahlia is being channeled by Maya?"

Anyway, I've finally finished all 3 main Ace Attorney games! Next up: Apollo Justice and AAI!

Well, whenever I can't figure out a contradiction, I start randomly presenting all of my evidence. So, I've presented some pretty silly stuff.

Like, "this witness is clearly lying because blue badger!"
