This is my first topic ever, and I'm not sure if I put it in the right place. I looked several pages back and could see nothing like this topic, so I think it's okay!

My question is, have you ever been listing to song and thought, "Omg, this reminds me of Phoenix," etc. It happens to me a lot.

There's this song called 'Lost,' it's by a band called Walter Meego. It's about someone who's lost themselves. They tell the listener that they're lost in the past and they're just memories of who they used to be. Everytime I listened to it, I thought of Hobo!Phoenix and it made me sad.

Another one was, 'Manic Depression' by Emilie Autumn. I love this violin solo, and for some reason it kinda remind me of Edgey. His anger and pain; the song speaks to me about someone of fragile mind, about to break.

Ah, anyone else? :phoenix:

For some reason, the chorus of "Through the Night", the Outlaw Opening, makes me picture the scene where Edgeworth returns in JFA.

The song Rootless by Marina and the Diamonds reminds me of the Steel Samurai theme. Even though it's a sad song, I feel happy whenever I listen to it. :edgy:

Snake Man from Mega Man 3 had a theme just like Cornered 2001. Here's a link. http://youtu.be/P4eBNmGzI4A

It's definitely the start that gets me.

Someone shared this with me a few years ago. Unfortunately I forgot who, and I'm thinking this comes from the closing sequence of some show. Still. Tell me that song doesn't remind you of a Cross Examination. (Too lazy to do a google search on the only clue "Tvark")

Due to a video someone made in Youtube, every time I watch or listen to the soundtrack of Legally Blonde: The Musical, the song "There! Right There!" always reminds me of the Ace Attorney gang with Mia as defense, Edgeworth as prosecutor and Klavier as the defendant.

People should check out how frigginly awesome it is. ._.

"Policy of Truth" by Depeche Mode
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hp3JgWmQHcE

The song's more about someone lying to their partner, being caught, and now having to live with the consequences, but it always reminds me of how all of the witnesses in the game seem to have something to hide. Mostly Dahlia.

It's too late to change events,
It's time to face the consequence,
For delivering the proof,
In the policy of truth

"Broken Wings" by Mr. Mister

The lyrics and instruments just have a general "turnabout" theme to them.

Usually when a song reminds me of Ace Attorney, it's where it seems like it would be a good soundtrack to accompany that certain scene in the game. So imagine a movie/tv show version of the scene, and the song under it, kind Miami Vice-style. For descriptive purposes, I'll use an imaginary "Phoenix Wright TV Show" to get my point across. In fact, (maybe because I'm a cinema major) I have over the years subconsciously planned out exactly how these scenes would look like. So while they originally reminded me of the moods I felt while playing AA, now they are part of these scenes in my head. Spoilers for all the games:

"Johnny Panic and the Bible of Dreams" - Tears for Fears | "Theme Song"
http://youtu.be/aDde8w-xKRo?t=58s
The sound of this song is very Ace Attorney to me, and I could see this being a theme song-like intro or something. I started it at the part that I'm talking about, as the song is very long and has some parts which don't really sound the same, like when the woman starts singing alone. I'm only talking about the big chorus part.

"Little Secrets" - Passion Pit | Rise from the Ashes "End Song"
http://youtu.be/-z5OeAYFtT0

When I hear this I always think of the finale of Rise from the Ashes, where Lana and Ema reunite and Phoenix wins his fist case without Maya. I can imagine Phoenix just sitting in his office later that day, confident and ready to take on his cases and try to help his clients on his own now. While in the beginning of the case he feels a little lost, he is putting his best foot forward and feels ready to do it now. It would be a perfect "season finale" kind of vibe - of course because unknown to us at the time, Maya comes back and everything goes back to normal very soon after.

"Bridge over Troubled Water" - Simon & Garfunkel | GS2 "End Song"
http://youtu.be/jjNgn4r6SOA

I always see this as the finale of GS2. While Maya has been rescued and Engarde found guilty, because of the stress and traumatic nature of the case Phoenix is exhausted and still feels a little melancholy. I imagine this being "in-universe" sound rather than a straight soundtrack - as in its playing in the restaurant that they're in or something and it slowly becomes the soundtrack. I can see everyone talking and having fun eating and talking and the camera pans to Phoenix, visibly exhausted in his chair with a drink, still frazzled and thoughtful but also happy. Fade out.

"In the Air Tonight" - Phil Collins | Bridge to the Turnabout
http://youtu.be/ITJUS9a_XKA
This song is probably the most perfect of all of them. First off, look at lyrics!
Quote:
Well, if you told me you were drowning, I would not lend a hand, I've seen your face before my friend, But I don't know if you know who I am
Well, I was there and I saw what you did, I saw it with my own two eyes, So you can wipe off the grin, I know where you've been, It's all been a pack of lies
Well I remember, I remember don't worry, How could I ever forget, it's the first time, the last time we ever met
But I know the reason why you keep your silence up, no you don't fool me, The hurt doesn't show; but the pain still grows
It's no stranger to you or me

Apart from fairly well--describing the case/dahila/Phoenix's thought process, it also fits perfectly into how the initial crime scene would play out.
I can see a shot of Phoenix in his room, looking at the magazine article with Dahlia in it, then looking out the window at the other temple across the river. Another shot of Iris lighting a fire and thinking, Bikini doing her stuff. Phoenix walks outside into the cool air, and then he sees the fire right when those drums start up. He runs across the bridge as it breaks, and while this happens screams are heard as all hell breaks loose.

"Dreams" - Passion Pit (Originally by the Cranberrys) | PW "Finale"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e56JIp2hXcY
I see this as the "finale" of Phoenix's story - whether that would be the end of the fictional show's run, or his arc on it before bringing Apollo in. I see different shots of Phoenix re-doing his office, Maya beginning to study spirit channeling at the temple, birthdays, holidays, important events, showing that these people (the cast of the three) will interact in some way. All these shots would be panning right, and "flowing" into eachother, ending on a shot of Phoenix, alone in his office at his desk, thinking about something. It seems emptier than it used to be, but it's not a negative feeling of emptiness. More like when your kids move out to become adults. The camera pans right up to his fade, then a very slow fade to black as the song flickers out at the end.

"Land of Confusion" - Genesis | Edgeworth "Theme Song"
http://youtu.be/ZujuYiweht8
I don't have a lot of reasoning for this, and if I was to pick the music for a PW show I probably wouldn't use this for Edgeworth's intro, but for some reason when I think of Investigations gameplay I think of it happening to this song. Maybe because the music of AAI is very genesis-like.

"Chain of Fools" - Aretha Franklin | Intro to "Turnabout Airlines"
http://youtu.be/gGAiW5dOnKo
This one is purely in my imagination and isn't a real scene in the game, but I think it's pretty cool. The intro to the "Turnabout Airlines" episode could feature a montage of Ackbey Hicks being involved in investigating the smuggling. It would be from a first-person perspective, so we would see what he sees, even his hands moving and walking and stuff, so it's still a mystery who it is. It would quickly cut from him getting the assignment to investigating, looking over records, and right before the last half of the song seeing a blurred sillouete pushing him over the edge of the plane. No other audio than the music.

"Mama" - Genesis | The Kidnapped Turnabout Intro
http://youtu.be/3L9fOGg9wO8
The music to the real case is very similar to this, so it's a good fit. Edgeworth slowly walking into the amusement park with the bag, looking around, being aware that any one of the guests there could be the kidnappers. Contrast the tension of the song and situation with the bright, happy environment of the park. End in the haunted house when Edgeworth gets knocked out. Cut occasionally to Edgeworth on a wire talking to him.

"Shout" - Tears for Fears | Apollo "Theme Song"
http://youtu.be/01QA90IuOYY
I feel like this song fits the Apollo world a little better than the original. It's a little slower-paced and has a sound more like the AJ soundtrack. But it sounds enough like the original that there's some symmetry (in reality, the original song was actually a remix of the instrumentals of this song with new lyrics).

"Don't Give Up" - Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush | Montage of Phoenix's post-disbarment days
http://youtu.be/av11y3tm_ek
I think this is perfect for after Phoenix is disbarred. In fact, remember that zoom in to phoenix shot in the end of my T&T segment? Emulate that and reverse it with out of work Phoenix, now with a child sitting on the couch in the room. Different shots of Phoenix talking to edgeworth, an adult maya, and looking in records for any details on where Trucy's parents could be. Him in the job market, finally getting the piano job. Phoenix realizes that whatever sadness he felt about losing his job is outweighed by the fact that he now has to care for this child.

"Storms in Africa" - Enya | Jury Unveiling
http://youtu.be/iLezeb-U0_M
I think this would work great for a scene where the jury is ready and walks out of their room to announce the verdict. Apollo, Phoenix, Trucy, and the rest watch, concerned about the case but aware that history is being made here. Lots of slow motion here. This would be a great way to reveal Lamorior's presence in the jury as well.

I also often imagine Phoenix Wright as a TV show! Sometimes when I hear a song, I think, this would be perfect if it were played when this happened in Ace Attorney.

I think a violin theme would fit perfectly with Edgeworth.
So for me it'd either have to be Emilie Autumn's 'Manic Depression': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhjRGW0FjbQ
Gackt's 'Mizerables'': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kkapkmn7mkI

I totally agree on that thing about Edgeworth and Violins. I don't have a scene mapped out in my head like the others, but I think the Theme song from the film "In the Mood for Love" would fit Edgeworth very well. I can imagine him alone in his office drinking tea, flashing back to his father and his childhood trauma.

Talking of imagining Phoenix Wright in a live action series, I've always imagined Psyche-locks as looking epic. At first, I imagined that when Phoenix would touch the magatama, he'd see the 'enemy' surrounded by some sort of tornado-like forcefield of spiritual power with the Psyche-locks surrounding. Now, I imagine that when he touches the magatama, all the humans around him turn into silhouettes of themselves and all he can see clearly is their hearts. And within that he can see their innermost feelings locked in chains. Not sure what I'd use for music at that part, maybe something ambient...

This sounds very cool. I would then in the middle of it cut to a shot of Maya or another onlooker looking at Phoenix and the person being interrogated, and all that spiritual stuff not being there. Phoenix looks a little out of it though, then we cut back to his psyche lock world, to show it's totally in his head.

If they ever got to a hypothetical season in which the Apollo Justice story was adapted, I could see older Phoenix with stubble using the magatama, and in the psyche lock world he would once again be in a suit and clean shaven, just like in his days as a lawyer. His determination to seek justice is as strong as ever, if not stronger, and his look in the psyche lock world would reflect that.

I think that's a really cool idea. I like the idea for AJ Phoenix especially!

Another idea I had was that, at vital points in the trial, the courtroom battle would appear in similar fashion to the psyche-locks. It'd all be in Nick's head again, so there'd be some transition between it and the actual trial. In the 'Court World,' I imagine the battle to physically reflect Phoenix's battles in the real world. In the real world, his evidence would be his weapon, but in the 'Court World,' the battles are more literal. Every time Nick objects in the real world, he 'battles' that person in a kind of 'tournament of the mind,' where they physically fight each other in their heads. Each killer or witness has a different weapon depending on their personality. I always imagined Edgeworth using a sword, whilst Phoenix would wield a giant hammer, Mikagami-style.
So, for example, if it were 1-2, at the end Edgey would collapse defeated in battle, his cravat bloodied, but then it transitions to the real world, where he's just defeated in mind.
Weirdly, I also imagined the jury would look different in the Court World too. The jury would be wearing red, White and black clothing, like in a deck of cards. Like Phoenix considers the trial a card game, like Edgey's Chess Logic. Also,
I figured if the courtroom battle's epicness was going to translated to film, that this would be a way to work it. It fitted in my head at least. XD
