Hi there, so... hmm.. yeah

I've been wanting to make a Phoenix Wright anime for a long time now, so I think that if I can get a couple more people that I could really do this. I don't really know how to go about this but I have a basic idea in my head. What we'd need are some...

1. Rough Animators
2. Coloring People
3. Voice Actors
4. Putting it together People

And we might need some

5. Script Writers
6. Sound FX people

Heres how I'm thinking it would work..

The Rough Animators will draw out the frames using pencil or pen or whatever. Then they scan them into the compy and send them to the colorers. The Colorers than color in the frames (I'm assuming on their compy) to make them look spiffy. The Script Writers will of course make the episode scripts and then send them to the voice actors, who will say their lines,(I think this will be the trickiest part. If anyone knows how fan-dubs are made explaining it would be a big help) and then the send them to the Put Togetherers. The Puttogethers also get the colored in frames. The put the frames and the voices together in a animation program and add sound FX, or they can send it to sound FX people who can then add them or maybe e-mail the sounds back to the Put-Togethers and then they can edit it in.

The Colorers would have the toughest job I think, but I don't know much about computer art so :welly:

So... Do you guys think this could work? Would anyone be interested in joining?

I can do the rough animations and maybe some script writing. IF You want to do this then you have to be good at whatever it is you would do.

Rough animators have to be able to draw anime with some ease, they also have to be patient because they'll be drawing a lot of frames. Rough animators also need to be able to emulate people's styles. If you want to be a rough animator on this project please submit a character sheet for Phoenix containing one head to toe picture facing forwards and one backwards, a side head shot, a 3/4 view, and 1/4 view. Be sure to have the faces expressing different emotions unique to Phoenix. My character sheet will be up on Monday. Then we can pick the person whose we like best to make the other character sheets.

Colorers, all you need to show me is some cool computer art.

I don't know how to go about picking the rest, so if you guys have any ideas. :will: Please, do tell.

I would love to try to be a voice actor, as to my skills for the others is horrible.

With voice acting, you should have various quotes from the game from characters you want to use. So make a list. I think I could help if you're serious about this.. as to I don't want to waste my time compiling things if this isn't even going to go underway since I do have school and whatnot.

But yes, you have various quotes that would have various expressions in the voice (ie. sad, angry, nervous, happy whatever pertaining to character) and have people send in samples of them saying them.

As much as I would love to do Manfred, though I'd need to tweek my voice to make it deeper, but that can be done. ^_~

There are many ways to do animation these days that you proberbly won't need to go through the 'rough drawings' process (which is alot more complicated than what it sounds). You should all google for an animator called 'Shaun the Touched', a.k.a White Radish. He's done his own anime styled traditional animation in the past, and is more or less the official animator of Drowtales.

In the past he did everything more or less traditionally. This means he would've proberbly:
A) Wrote the script.
B) Drew out the basic storyboard.
C) Drew out the roughs for the animation.
D) Made clean frames out of them.
E) Coloured them in photoshop.
F) Combined them all into Aftereffects with nessecary backgrounds and effects.

In the cases of some animators though, they could in theory do ALL the frames straight onto the computer if they have a tablet, sketching everything out in Photoshop (or in P.A.P and similar vector programs, like Flash).

The above staged technique was used for animations such as The Apprentice, and Pink Lemonade.

Then he started doing animations in Flash. Using his own character doll setup and a low FPS rate, he was able to recreate the effect of traditional Anime animation. You can see these animations at Newgrounds (which include Cutechulu and the Non-canon Pink Lemonade Joke time thingie whateveritwascalled). I'm trying to make the point that you can cut out the middle man and make the whole thing in flash, using either dolled animation or FBF (Frame by Frame), or even a combination of both.

Check out the below link for a good example of mostly FBF animation making good use out of Flash's other features.

And check this below link for a great example of flash being used to produce traditional anime styled animation.

Shaun is currently producing animations with Anime Studio (formerly known as Moho), which uses a skeletal based character setup to animate characters. This is an example of him using AS for animations.

What i'm trying to get at is, is that just because it's anime doesn't mean you have to go through the trouble of doing rough sketches and the such. Everything that you can do on paper these days can be done in programs like Flash with MUCH less hassle. Since this is an amature project it would proberbly be better for you to try and search for skilled Flash animators instead. Again you could try Newgrounds for that (their BBS has a section for trying to find animators).

EDIT: Just to make myself clear, i'm not saying "hound Shaun to be the animator", as i'm pretty sure he's busy enough already. I just mean to use him as an example of the fact that great anime doesn't have to come from cumbersome traditional techniques.

Hm... I can draw chibis very well, so if you need someone to do the chibis, I'm available. (just to let you know, i'm not that responsible though, so you'll have to bug me about it every now and then).

I can also do some voice acting. :3

Hmm! Now this is an interesting idea. :D I'm not TOO good, but I like coloring and have been doing it on the computer for about a year now, so I have a bit of practice and I keep getting better. So if you need any help with that, I can assist! I don't know if I'll be good enough, though. :P I'd like to see how well this goes, 'cause it DOES sound interesting~ :D

This does sound interesting. It would be fun to be a part of~. I fail at coloring, but it would be fun to be a voice actor~

Sounds awesome. I vote using Flash, just 'cause many people have it and can use it well. I have Adobe Premiere, so if you need an editor, I can help out a little.

If this ever gets off the ground, I'd love to do voice acting - I've got experience acting in operas, plays, and musicals. Another plus is that I sound very similar to Phoenix Wright. :P

Heh - I'll not mind trying a VA Role...depending on what you plan on doing.

Either Phoenix, Godot, or Gumshoe! =D <Shrugs> But I'm thinking too far ahead, heh...
