So what are your thoughts on it?

Sounds pretty good to me. I mean, if Disgaea and Tales of Symphonia (and others who I'm neglecting to name) can do it, why not Phoenix Wright?

It wouldn't be hard. We just gotta hope the animation/story layout is better than Disgaea turned out to be. Ha ha. We also gotta hope for good voice actors if it happens ;D

Really looking forward to it in my opinion.

Just think- PW on the big screen!

The only reason this is being allowed for the #2042042858th time is because of the recent news released by Capcom. SOME KIND OF GYAKUSAI VIDEO BUSINESS. Whatever that means.

Speculation go~

If Capcom wrote the cases for the show it could be quite good. I fear that the voice acting would be the biggest problem they would have to overcome.

The only problems would be the voice acting, the cases and how long they take, and if it becomes an anime or an actual live-action TV series.

And a dub, if it happens. Also lol Phoenix Weight.

If they kept Kondou Takayuki as Phoenix (as in the TGS trailers) then I would die a happy woman... I've loved him in everything he's been in, and the man himself has a great sense of humor.

I think the biggest risk is if they overdo it. Phoenix Wright is a gorgeous game because it's still got a sort of small cult following, and everything they produce for it is really high quality and sweet. If they mass-produce an anime it could ruin that feeling... I think the best they could do would be to have one OVA or something, to keep that 'exclusive' feel going.

And if they drew it in the style of the art books... that would be awesome too. :D

So which studio would you guys rather have to do a Gyakuten Saiban anime then....?

[Madhouse, Production IG, Studio Bones.... I'd go for any of these three @_@;;;;]

I'd definitely be interested in seeing one. The formula is perfect for TV, after all... maybe not for half an hour format, though. Even if Capcom isn't directly involved, it wouldn't matter much- how hard it is to write some decent and interesting cases?

The biggest hurdle is definitely voice acting, though. Especially if they brought it over here, considering like half the English voices are from people who work at Capcom...

There's a link on the front page, Funkster~

I don't want to see them do any original cases outside of game canon. Not that I'm a canon Nazi, but to be blunt...the ones they've done for the manga have been awful. Because they don't fit into the story anywhere they don't employ any of the game's character development, and end up feeling pretty empty.

I know a lot of people didn't see the 5 part manga that was released weekly (we haven't translated it here) but it was just HORRIBLE. Phoenix and Maya go to Sparkle Sparkle Land so Maya can act even younger than she normally does, and Phoenix can drool over some moe chick. I've read some bad manga in my day, but seriously! Whoever was in charge of that one should go bye bye.

I think their best bet would be either:

A condensed retelling of the first game. Then you could show off the main characters without having to rewrite anything.

Something taking place between GS3 and GS4. It would fill in missing bits of GS4 and serve as a nice transition between the two arcs. What better way to fill those holes than with pure fanservice?

Either way, I hope we don't see anything unless Takumi himself is involved.

They'd have to get proper VA's to do the voices, not Capcom staff!
I'm in two minds about them just doing the cases in the games, I mean, we already know how they turn out, why not have new ones?

Anyone discuss the possibility of a live-action production? (Major lolz!) That would top everything in my book. Live-action GTO and live-action Sailor Moon were just so fun~

I wouldn't mind original cases if they were better written than those manga ones. Like grim said, we already know all the outcomes. I don't even think the whole thing has to be canon as long as it's fun. I really hope it's a short series though, like the traditional 26 episodes.

Cool beans, though~

I hope they might do some stuff re: the old cast in GS4-era. Maybe tell Phoenix's story there (and make him stop sucking >_>) and free up Odoroki for the games?

Mhh, I dunno about this ;_;.
I mean, an anime would be great and all, but I doubt that it would be so good. In the Phoenix Wright games there is just too much talking to make an anime out of it. I mean, what would happen in this Anime anyway? People standing in court all the time? For a game, this can work, but for an anime? Mhhh, I don't know..
Well, maybe the anime could concentrate more on the investigation parts, then it would be fine :3.

If it's an anime, I believe the director of Haruhi Suzumiya and Lucky Star should take it up.

I have a small theory that he's a fan of the series somewhat (at least from the references), and he's already proven by the two Haruhi Suzumiya episodes that he could pull it off.

That and Aya Hirano could be Maya. =3

Have you ever watched a crime drama?

It could be presented in a similar format, except with more court scenes and less investigating.

It would lose how big the cases feel, or else require you to watch it every day. They would never be able to fit a case at the length of most of the Phoenix Wright cases within one hour very easily.

However, it would be nice if they made one that is in between the 3rd and 4th games.

I think that it would be the best thing ever since Kingdom Hearts and the PW games themselves.

I would hope that Capcom would start out with the first three games as the anime, then make much more before introducing Apollo Justice.

I could just see Phoenix after his first trial....

Mia: You did good in their,Phoenix.
Phoenix: Aww,thanks,Mia. It was sort of your victory, though. I was just following orders. If it really weren't for you,I probably would have lost.
Mia: Yeah, get used to that feeling.
Phoenix: ACK! (Way to ruin the moment....)

I'm curious about how they'd do his ubiquitous asides. You know, the parts where he thinks in blue text and parentheses. (Although apparently the Feys and others can read his mind during his asides in the game.)

Totally agree with you! And I think that is The Edgeworth seyuu is the same fo the movie for me they would be great! Maya have the same Hinata (Naruto) seyuu and the Judge have Rokkaku's ojii (Prince of tennis) seyuu!
I don't like japanese live action cause I don't like usually the idols' recitation style so I hope for an animated serie.
If the house that will do the animation is the same taht did Tales of Symphonia or Shining Tears it will be with a good character design (not like the manga) that as Croik said is made really bad sometimes. (ok the most of!^^').
I'd like if the anime story will start by the first Phoenix case and will follow the game story maybe with some cases more inside them. But if they'll do an OVA I hope that they'll not create a story for the OVAs only!

It could work if they did it like the Kindaichi case files - an episode for setup, an episode for investigation and then an episode or two for the courtroom phase and the final denouement. Separate case arcs, kinda thing. I wouldn't be surprised if they followed that format actually - Detective Academy Q had a similar kind of thing, only they condensed it into a single episode.

Anyways, I think an anime would be neat. I'd expect they animate every case from the game and perhaps some few originals so that even the gamers don't know what to expect.

As for who should animate it... I think KyoAni could do it since they seem to freaking love the series but then again, KyoAni would probably pimp the crap out of it Haruhi or LS style, and I don't see AA going that route at all. Just not Gonzo though.

Personally I can see it being animated by BONES studios.
They did FMA, Ouran High School Host Club, Wolf's Rain, and Eureka Seven, and they also collaborated with Sunrise to do the Cowboy Bebop movie.

An anime would be really boring, I think. The PW series are basically a book/film in which you have actually have to think and present evidence yourself. A film/anime would be the same, except that it isn't interactive.

Aha, I found the answer. While replaying 3-3, there's a part where Gumshoe and Phoenix are talking. At one point, Phoenix has one of his infamous asides and Gumshoe comments on it. Phoenix replies (via aside) with something like "Stop reading my mind!" and Gumshoe answers by saying how Phoenix's face gives everything away.

BONES would be an awesome animation studio for it. I mean, come on. Their trademark "arrows" would just work so well for it. XD

Though I wouldn't be too upset if StarChild did it either. ;D Their Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei style would be really cute for Gyakuten.
