I felt really, really sorry for the guy. I'm not quite sure what it is about him, but he had much more of a character than you would have ever thought on the surface. His sense of seriousness, responsibility, and leadership conflicts drastically with the shallow, kid-around-with-corny-jokes nature he shows you at first. Also, Moe knows he's a dying breed. He knows people don't laugh at his jokes anymore. He's not some completely oblivious senile man that's blind to reality like you might think. He's very well aware of what's happening around him, and he shows it at certain times. But truly, if Moe is anything, he's a strong character. And to me, at least, he's memorable.
Moe was always one of my favorites. Although a lot of people really, REALLY don't like him. As long as the opinion police steer away from me, I'm okay.

He has more depth than the majority of the characters in JFA. He 'realizes' his jokes are lame and that nobody cares about the circus, but he accepts that there's nothing he can do to change his life so he continues living his sad little life. He also realizes everyone at the circus is majorly screwd up and it's an unhealthy atmosphere. So to see him take responsibility showed massive growth as a character.

As has been stated quite often in this thread, he's actually a very deep character. He's the most mature of the characters in 2-3, and he does seem to know when he has to put aside the jokes at last and take on real responsibility.

. In fact, I'd go so far as to say he was the sole reason I derived pleasure from 2-3, amidst Regina's "I'm so cute so worship me now" and 
being a total Gary Stu. Yes, Moe's jokes were terrible, and if his character were to exist in a vacuum (a literary vacuum, mind you), he would be a terrible character. But the way that Moe, Phoenix and Maya interact, it's just so... funny. I kinda disliked JFA in general, because in AA, Phoenix was portrayed as a well-meaning goofball who had a good head on his shoulders but lacked the booksmarts that others had, and I think that the character suited him very well and just generally made him a terriffic character. In JFA, however, I can practically hear Phoenix going "Nyuk nyuk nyuk, no respect." Everyone whips him, kicks him, laughs at him and generally hates him, which kind of destroys all the things that make him a great character to begin with. When he talks to Moe, though, the back-and-forth bon mots and one-liners, cliche though they may be, are still fantastic.Let the quotes begin:
"Only if you can get stiff-lips here to make with the funny!"
"In my book, clowns are just funny-lookin'"
"You'll have to forgive Nick, he was born without a sense of humor."
"C'mon, it was funnier than anything chuckles here has said so far."
etc.

Moe was, as stated million times, the most mature character in 2-3. Daramue and Doctor Diablo pretty much summed up everything I thought about Moe. He's a great character, and I don't think he deserves that much hate.
You know, I really really want to know what happened to Berry Big Circus after the 7-year gap that took place between GS3 and GS4. I don't think a case in GS5 or 6 surrounding the circus would be necessary, but the circus could at least get a mention. I really want to know if Moe managed to make Berry Big Circus the best circus everyone has to see, like he said he was going to do.
