This is something that has always bugged me...where exactly in the courtroom does the defendant sit? At certain points in the game, a defendant may make an "outburst", at which point in time the Judge tells a baliff to restrain them to the defendants seat.

So where exactly is this defendants seat? I cant see it anywhere in the courtroom overview...

Good question.

I always thought the defendant's seat was below the Judge's bench, but the way they show the courtroom, it's really obscured.

I could be wrong, though I'm just making a wild guess.

The games never actually give the defendant a seat- whenever they're shown, they are standing at the witness stand. However, I like to assume it's across from the witness, underneath the judge.

I thought that too, in one of the two seats beneath the judges podium...but they are always empty. But those seem more like a place for a scribe and/or other official to sit in.

In a real Japanese courtroom, the defendant sits at a table situated behind the witness stand. Though that's technically impossible in the context of the PW game (the wide-angle shot may miss it, but it should be visible between the witness and the courtroom doors), I just imagine the defendant to be somewhere in that area anyway. (No worse than the shadow Bailiffs, after all.)

I thnk it would be near Phoenix... remember, Maya threw a paper at him in 1-2... and the witness always goes "The defendant over THERE!" while facing the judge...

I always thought they were in the seats that the audience sat in.

I refuse to call them the jury. They're the audience.

Well yeah, considering they don't actually... do anything regarding the case.

Not to mention that it contains little kids.

"Phoenix is a poopy-head!"
"Mommy, is that lawyer the bad killer man?"

They're obviously not a jury. Trials have audiences. I've been in a few. From what I've experienced, the audience sits at the back of the court, and the defendant has a little booth to sit in directly in front of the audience, in the middle of the room. But in PW, the audience sits on the sides. Therefore, the defendant is probably given a magical invisible ring that they are to wear throughout the trial unless they have something important to say. Oh and also they can't feel the rings.

That makes sense. Plus I find the idea of the defendants invisibly running around the courtroom whilst giggling feverishly to be quite hilarious.
