And...considering he still needs to rely on Mia or Maya at times to keep himself in the game, that'd...not be good.

There'd be alot more sexiness in GS. That's for sure.
But there's a reason why mentors die or go off on their own thing. The hero must fight his own battles untill he's stuck so the mentor can come back breifly and give him guidance.

- Phoenix wouldn't be as close to Maya
- Godot wouldn't be such an asshole
- I'd probably be a hardcore Phoenix/Mia shipper
- There would probably be a different set of cases.
- Redd White would still be on the streets.
- We would have to see a different spirit being channeled to show off Maya's powers.

Some things that were said between them in the first case made me wonder if maybe Mia had feelings for him, but I never saw Phoenix return them or anything like that.
That being said: it would be funny if Godot saw Phoenix as a rival, but if Phoenix was married to Mia I'd feel sorry for Godot. He deserves to be with his kitten. :3

1. Phoenix Arrives ten minutes earilier, and manages to restrain Redd White before he commits his dirty deed. An AU case could occur in which Nick and Mia help a prosecutor bring defendant White down. (Maybe Redd would manipulate the court's choice of prosecutors, so they'd end up having to help Winston Payne defeat Robert Hammond or something.)
2. Mia recieves an injury, but it's not fatal. Nick would defend Maya from Attempted Murder charges while Mia's in some sort of short-term coma. Now that I read it, however, this POD makes little dramatic sense.
3. For some reason, Maya's in the Law Office instead of Mia when White breaks in, and ends up being the victim while Mia's the defendant. Though Mia can defend herself in court, she'd have to rely on Phoenix to get enough untampered evidence to prove her own innocence. (Oddly enough, Maya's death would likely make Mia more emotionally distraught than her own ever did. Phoenix helping her come to terms would be a bit cliché for a romance angle, but that's fanfiction for you.)
Phoenix could still learn to stand up on his own with a living mentor; Mia would simply have to let Nick start fighting his own battles and only provide some help as she does in spirit. Most future cases would end up the same save for Phoenix x Mia ship growing in the background.

Redd White would break into Mia's office to get the incriminating paperwork and he would injure, but not kill her in the struggle. Then the next day, White manipulates the police to get Mia convicted of driving a famous person to his or her suicide. Since his company specializes in information gathering, he could say Mia manipulated the paperwork to ruin the famous person. So Phoenix and Maya need to prove Mia's innocence since White fabricated so much of the evidence.
Since the false evidence is too strong for Mia to defend herself against, Mia trusts that Phoenix and Maya will uncover the truth. After the case is over
The entire series would have to be re-written, but the geniuses at capcom wouldn't let us down.

Hm. Well, is Mia was dead, we'd need another spirit to channel or Maya would be less useful than she already is, if that's possible. In my opinion, if Naruhodo had a block of wood as an assistant it would be more useful than Maya. I mean, he could have used the wood to defend himself when Redd White attacked him. And it doesn't matter if the wood was kidnapped in case 4 of JFA...
Moving on, here's an idea. What if Gregory Edgeworth was the spirit that Maya/Pearl channel instead of Mia? He was supposed to be a great attorney, so i'm sure he could help with some stuff. It would also be interesting to see a scene where Edgey meets up with his dad again. And also, what the hell would Maya look like channeling a guy? o__o
