Prosecutors don't need badges?

And I was thinking 'Omg Edgeworth must so totally have a sexy badge on that sexy pink suit of his'
and it turned out he didn't! D=
I was so dissappointed.
So I looked through all of the prosecutors and I realised that all of the defense attorneys have badges (with the exception of Diego Armando) and none of the prosecutors actually have badges. =/
Which leads me to my question, do prosecutors need badges? Or can they just barge in in a courtroom with an 'I'm-an-arrogant-bastard; be-ready-to-be-wowed-by-my-awesomeness' look and pass as a prosecutor?
Or do they go by ID card or something?
OR did Capcom make a huge, giant glitch?

My guess is that they can do this so freely is because as far as we know all prosecutors thus far in the game work for the state. So my guess is the police already know about the Prosecutor going into court. But again, PW doesn't completely copy the law system in America. Prosecutors in America do have some form of badge, as Defense Attorneys do.

So that might be why we never see them. Maybe the creators of the game put the badges on the Defence Attorneys to show that they arn't the prosecution, but that's my opinion.

From what I've seen, the actual "badge" is something like this, attached to a wallet-style leather cover with an ID on the other side, much like the badges you see special investigators flip out in the movies.

This mark looks like some kind of flower.
Word is, it's designed after the insignia on the prosecutor's badge.
"Prosecutor's badge"...? Yeah, like the one hanging from your collar. What!? They have badges too!? The design's supposed to portray the severity of the punishment system. Now that you mention it, it does look all pointy and kind of painful. But Mr. Edgeworth never wears a badge. That's because he's a sharp dresser. A badge like that wouldn't go too well with his outfit. So sharp dressers don't need to wear badges? I guess everyone just kind of lets it slide. (I don't see how that's supposed to signify severe punishment...)So yeah, they're not obligated to wear it.
