I've been searching...and I haven't found a thread like this. Why? Payne is always one of my favorite characters, and he has somewhat of a sad story. Not to mention, he's been with for all four games.

If anyone is a fan of Payne, please come here!

*raises hand*
I'm a proud Winston Payne fan! Although it took me two games to finally realize that his name is winced-in-pain. That's how pathetic I am when it comes to puns (because he name really is a pun. He's the prosecutor that winces more than any other. {But his name does have "win" in it, which is obviously not true [as we know of]}) And I'm not afraid to admit that I would be frightened if his wife ever made an appearance. Just thinking about her makes me shudder.

Do you think he has any children? I mean, he's only sixty-one in GS4! The again, he would've had to have a son/daughter for at least twenty or thirty years. ... Well, if it was a male, his name would be Wilburt, because Wilbur the pig is the runt of the litter. Now, if he had a daughter, her name would be Emily. Emily Anne Payne. It just sounds good.

And I'd love to know who styles his hair. I don't know any barber near me that can style one's hair into a pompadour as well as Payne's. One time, I dared my brother to ask the barber shop person to style his hair like Payne's pompadour, and he got kicked out of the shop.

In T&T, he mentions a daughter.

Also, he supposedly was a good prosecutor before he met Mia, Nick, and Apollo.

Post subject:  Re: The Winston Payne Fanclub

He really was a better prosecutor in 3-1. Much better than he was in AA and JFA. You got to give the creators credit- 3-1 and 4-1 had some pretty epic Payne moments.

Spoiler: 3-1
And you gotta admit- losing his hair to Mia was classic.

Payne's hairstyle always amuses me :shoe:

It also took me some time to notice his name's pun, I never really thought about it until I saw it was "winced in pain"

Yeah, they did a really good job with that one.

Payne is the best, if only they'd give him a desk-slam and a whizzy screen animation. Due to the laziness of the programmers I wouldn't expect a new hairstyle in GS5 though

I'd really love to see Payne slam his desk. It'd probably be just as good as his Objection.

I'm in too! :sawit:
Just imagine... Payne as a fresh prosecutor.
With a deskslam and an objection pose.
Yeah... Payne was unbeatable his seven first years! I mean, really. He was originally designed to defend Phoenix against Edgeworth! Logic aside, originally WE COULD PLAY AS HIM DEFENDING PHOENIX!
Think about the awesomeness. :youngpayne:

Payne is the reason I wake up in the morning.

Ok, not really, but he's that awesome. And I dunno, I think GS5 might give him a new style. They wouldn't have to think of a new one, because according to the fanbook they already had a few ideas!

Spoiler: I vote for the fat one.

I somehow agree with this.

This thread reminds me of wannabe4chanmod.

"Probably the only Winston Payne fangirl on CR", she said.

EDIT: Krystal, that fanbook page is made of pure WIN.

Heh heh, there's a "Jewish" one, to the far left on the third row (counting from top to bottom).

Payne is awesome. There is no GS games without payne. I really hope they give him a bigger role in some gs game. It would be awesome if he was the defendant in some case.

I don't know... we have yet to see a bald Payne... Maybe after realizing his hairstyle (No matter how awesome it is) cannot help him be a better Prosecutor, he just shaves his head. I would like to see that.

In the original script for PWAA, Payne was supposed to be a defense attorney defending Phoenix in the first case, Turnabout Sisters. But later TS was moved to the second case, and Payne was made prosecutor of the first case.
But since Payne was intended to be an defense attorney, I'm going to make a case on PyWright or PWLib (if I get the chance) Where Payne's sprites are reversed, so he playd the role of defense attorney. Just taking a shot at it.

I gotta admit, seeing Payne lose is just a kick in the nuts (that means funny, for my local slang). And oh how I wish for Payne to be seen other than in a first case... Maybe with a Taser? Or as a defendant?

:objection:
When he was almost bald (1-1 and 2-1) he made absolutely no effort to win a case. When he has hair he's actually not a bad prosecutor! In Payne's case, hair is directly proportional to prosecutorial (is that a word?) skill.

I gotta admit... He's kept his badge longer than most of the characters (i.e. Hobo, Mia, Portsman, etc.)

He's no Manfred von Karma, but Payne has a little area in the cockles of my heart where I think he's just AWESOME.

And at least he's a tougher prosecutor than KLAVIER.

Author:  ShadowEdgeworth [ Tue Jul 07, 2009 11:20 am ]
Post subject:  Re: The Winston Payne Fanclub

I think Payne's the second most awesome Prosecutor in GS! (First is Edgey obviously!) I mean the guy is brilliant! I'm making an AAO case where he has a bigger role than in the games. And maybe in GS5 He could be the Prosecutor in the final case! You never know! Also, someone's gotta make Payne sprites for the Investigation parts. That'd be cool.

P.S. Check out his cameo in GK Case 1!

Anyone ever consider that the reason he loses the cases is because the clients are innocent? I think we should cheer Payne for not manipulating everything just so innocent people go to jail.

And you just wait a couple years from now, I can see this coming...

Look, Winston Payne is the only "honest" prosecutor. I'll give you that.

But look at it this way too. Winston Payne had seven years of straight wins. And then he loses to Mia Fey. That loss compounds with the near complete loss of his hair and ends with him becoming a pathetic excuse for an attorney. I think Winston and Phoenix should have switched badges in Apollo Justice.

"Don't I get to prosecute anyone?"
