why wasnt maya in gs4?

this might be an already answered question, but i`m not an expert at the fourth gs4 at all, i haven`t played it and i was just wondering what happened to her. i`m assuming that she just went back to the Eagle mountain and trained?

The answer: GS4 was originally going to be a new game with only new characters. The writers didn't want to bring back the old chars but Capcom told them they had to include Phoenix. So they wrote the game to include Phoenix but no other old chars.
So Maya basically doesn't exist in the game because the writers didn't take her existence into account with the plot.

Being Kurain Master isn't an excuse for her absence. At the end of 3-5 she says how she'll continue being manager at Wright and Co and Kurain Master.
