Valant is really an awesome character. I don't know why I like him, he's just so perfectly balanced. He is overly confident, but not so much that it makes you want to kill him. He is suspicious looking, but not suspicious enough to be a killer. He is a jerk at times, but only because he has to be. Plus he says cool big words that actually fit with him.
For some reason, he reminds me of Godot.
Plus his shocked sprite is one of my favorites in the game.

After playing through Apollo Justice, I cn honestly say that Valant is my favorite character in the game.
All of his ALAKAZAAAUUUGGHH's were pretty funny, and his animations are pretty bad-ass. I prefer the older-looking Valant to the young, but that's just me. I guess the mustache adds to the cool factor. His theme is a real good song too.
He is more likable than Zak, but I never understood why
Aside from that, i find him to be one of the more tragic characters of the game. It isn't easy being a failure, you know? I also like him blasting the press outside the Coliseum. The whole "they treat the greatest show on Earth like some Vaudevillian distraction! And yet I have to smile at them all!" thing was a rather cool bit. And Alliteration is awesome, moreso when done repeatedly.

I HOPE they go into more details about the Gramaryes (and Trucy and Apollo) in GS5, cuz this is some very interesting family dramaz.
My current gut-theory is Valant is indeed Apollo's father, and the whole "death" story could be a fabricaiton.
I have to flee but I'll post my thoughts on that later, it could be possible.

I agree that they really need to go more into the family dynamic in the next game. There is just so much that we don't know and what we do know leaves me believing that a lot of interesting stuff is to follow.
I will admit that Valant as Apollo's father is currently my favorite theory although I'm not sure how well it fits with what we know. Oh well. I guess we'll find out.
