That video is now on my iPod ^^

I think a better question than "What would Kristoph want for Xmas" is "Do you think Kristoph would get drunk for New Years?" *giggles at mental image*

Truly, he is the hallmark of all that is Evil, being a combination of Karma and Dahlia.

B-but gay is good! Though I do respect the fact that not everyone likes it (heck, I myself am a yuriphobe)

Personally I don't see what's wrong with gay pairings at all. It's exactly the same as het...except they're both boys *states the obvious then facepalms* I'd support Gavincest even if they weren't related, I just think their personalities go well together. You, my friend, have just won the internet. I think I'll put that quote in my signature.

Yes, Kristoph would get drunk on New Years Eve... Then he'd go searching for Phoenix. :hotti:

Lol my friend and I were so bored a few nights ago so we had a tea party with her ceramic pink tea set while playing cards... Then, somehow, the topic lead to Kristoph and Phoenix playing strip poker.
(...Me: No, Kristoph is male.)
(Friend: You sure about that?)
(Me: Yes. It says so in the Court Record. "Gender: Male" and Phoenix would know.)
(Friend: Yes, yes he would.)
(*card game*)
(Friend: Lol I just had a thought... Phoenix and Kristoph playing strip poker.)
Me: *ships Phoenix/Kristoph to no end* YESSSS!!!!)

It was really funny. We then decided to write a fanfiction with this scenario. It really boggled me because she claims to hate Phoenix Wright and everything involved. Ah well! Clicky clicky :garyuu:

i'm sorry for that outburst
it's just that,
two guys making out?
sure, it looks good on art, but what about reality?
don't get me wrong, i AM acceptable with homosexuals, but gavincest goes too far.
Strange as it seems to you, I don't have a shred of respect for Feeniris.

The only incest I'll ever accept is only the half incest in AJAA.
If you don't know what I mean, I'm gonna slam my fist down on the table, or as i like to call it, act like Gavin.
Anyway, I'm quite a fan of canon pairings that have been given much development in games.
...
Personally, I don't care what you fanboys think, as long as it isn't shoved in my face again the next time i try to find people with my exact same opinion on Kristoph.
It happened before in the GS3 section, it might happen again here.

If you want to create gay pairings, you would be wise to back them up with a believable story.
Both of Phoenix's STRAIGHT pairings have that kind of proof.
Anyway, I'll leave you to your fanart now.

I accept homosexuality and stuff, but the only time I accept incest is Gavincest, and only because Kristoph and Klavier go well together (IMO, anyway. Each to their own, remember?)

Also is fanmade comic art acceptable for pics?

and how do you attach pics that aren't yours to here?

I have that comic saved in a folder somewhere.

Greener, to put in a pic, you right click the pic, and select Copy Image Location (I'm assuming that you use Windows). Then to put it in your post you select the image tag, and paste the thing you just copied in between the two bits. (I had to work this out for myself, I wish someone had told me this when I joined)

Also, in answer to Snow, This is what Kristoph was like when he was younger (They're all different, btw):

Um, is your computer running one of the Windows' OS's? Because it should work then (I'm running Windows 7, and that's how I do it) I also use Firefox, and tht's how it works for me. I'm not sure if it's the same on IE, Safari etc.

Also, since finishing the Darren Shan books, the phrase 'Half-blood Prince' has two meanings to me. But that's off topic.

Ah. Finally people who agree with me. Kristoph and Dahlia do not make a good pairing, at least in my eyes. They're not really alike, either. Dahlia just seems more evil than Kristoph, while Kristoph just seemed desperate.

I agree. I don't think either of them are capable of doing "love" in a human sense; in my headcanon, Dahlia is basically reduced to a survivor:
Spoiler:
her demure appearance and name change and the people she killed-- it was all about saving her own arse. I think abandonment from her own mother at a young age, and then whatever went on at the Hawthorne house (neglect at the very LEAST) shaped her into behaviour where she isn't able to connect with other people and is always on guard.

And then when she dies for it, she's bitter because she was only doing what she was conditioned to do: survive. I can see why you'd want revenge and see people as tools to be used if you'd grown up like that.

Kristoph, on the other hand, isn't.
Spoiler:
Rather than killing or running or changing his name to attempt to hide what he'd done, he was extremely brazen about it, to the point of still hanging around with the people involved in the whole mess. He even let Apollo defend Phoenix in 4-1: that was pretty ballsy. There's an arrogance and entitlement and pride issue Kristoph has going on which Dahlia doesn't have. Also, unlike Dahlia, who doesn't really show much rage up until the very end, Kristoph isn't that contained: he chastises Apollo in court lest he be embarrassed by him, and his method of killing Grammarye was rather angry and hands-on. Dahlia killed in a more "indirect" fashion, with poison, when she could have chosen others had she wished to. Whereas Kristoph's use of poison was due to the geographical distance (the stamp) between himself and the victim, and as insurance if Vera left the house (the Aridoney). There was something a lot more emotional and hotblooded about Grammarye's cause of death than any of the people Dahlia killed.

In short, Dahlia killed for practical reasons which were resultant of the mess on the bridge when she was a teenager, Kristoph killed for pride. Dahlia was trying to cover something up and probably wouldn't have killed if she didn't feel threatened, whereas Kristoph saw no threat and swaggered around like he was invincible. Dahlia ran and hid, yet her past kept catching up with her.

I also think they're both bordering on asexual. In Dahlia's case, sex (or looking sexually appealing, or asexual and almost childlike) appears to have been reduced to a tool of survival for her. In Kristoph's case, he seems more into having absolute control and power over people; sex seems to be a means of achieving that rather than either of them having an idea of sex as just a healthy expression of affection for others.

It looks pretty good in reality, too, and I don't remember Capcom telling us that Every Single Character in the AAverse is 100% straight. A population of 100% straight people would be far more unusual and bizarre than several of the cast being gay, bisexual or having their non-straight moments.

Greener223 wrote:

But "gay" (or m/m) doesn't automatically mean "incest." Having an issue with one pairing shouldn't mean dissing an entire genre. It'd be like me saying that Phoenix/Iris creeps me out and therefore all het is icky and disgusting and wrong.

Greener223 wrote:

See, for some people, that's more disturbing because of their ages at the time of the game, the possibility that children could result from them hooking up (imagine that your dad is also your uncle?) and that there's the possibility for neither of them to know until afterwards.

Greener223 wrote:

See, that's why a lot of the P/E shippers are so big on it: we're seeing canon evidence a lot of the time. I think people do with Klavier/Apollo as well (I don't, but I can accept that others do.)

And furthermore, unless you're prepared to apply this line of reasoning to m/f pairings, you're not being fair. I've seen plenty of cracky het!ships people go gaga over and no one cares that there's no canonical basis for them.

Greener223 wrote:

Um... what do you mean by that? Canon didn't show an awful lot of chemistry when Phoenix was dating the witness featured in 3-1. [spoiler]Canon says there was very little dialogue between them and that outside of the girl making him lunches and clothes and Phoenix being flattered by it and thinking it was sweet, that still doesn't convince me as proof of a solid relationship. All it shows is a girl fawning over a boy and the boy liking the attention.[/spoiler]

RoundedEdge, those comics were priceless. I'm still giggling.

In response to the last question...

I love Kristoph/Apollo. Yeah, massive power imbalances/abuse of mentorship, all those bells and whistles, but I love it.

I love Kristoph/Phoenix, too. For all the psychological games and manipulation and just... gah. Then there's Kristoph/Miles, which is sort of an extension to that for me.

And I'll admit, when Gavincest is done well, I don't mind it either.

Also, I love Kristoph/Matt. In prison. Not entirely unfeasible.

In terms of pairings I'm not a fan of involving Kristoph... anything that just seems completely illogical. Kristoph/Vera freaks me out a bit, too... and since I think Kristoph is more about "sex is a way to gain power over someone," I have a hard time seeing him terribly interested in, or motivated by the idea of having sex with most of the women in the AAVerse. (Maybe Trucy, though... if only to further get at Phoenix. [And admittedly, that idea actually disturbs the hell out of me.])

Well put, LadyLuckDoubt.

I never really liked Kristoph paired with anyone either, except Klavier. I think that the reason for that is that I've always seen Kristoph as someone who is asexual (see above for LLD's explanation as to why - her wording is better than I could ever put it)

I agree with you, and way to go LLD :karma:
No one "fits" with Kristoph but Klavier IMO. Dahlia and Kristoph kind of similar, sure, but not REALLY ... I just don't see them going together nicely >_<

ok, other two guys, i ain't responding to

but ladyluckdoubt, i'm impressed

you've gone in-depth into my comments and roundededge's comments

Spoiler: GS3 and GS4
My thoughts on Dahlia were that she was spoiled by her jeweler father and turned evil by her vengeful mother. It was mostly her evil side that controlled her, and directed her actions after the divorce of Mr. Hawthorne and Morgan le Fey (yes i said LE) and her looks were able to create several scapegoats such as Fawles and Feenie. But Mia was still able to catch her at the end of the road in Turnabout Memories, sending her in for a Death Sentence 5 years later. But Morgan put in a last attempt for Hawthorne to follow after her death: She gave instructions to Pearl to summon Dahlia to have her kill Maya, but it went astray, causing Godot to kill Misty Fey to protect Maya from Hawthorne. And when Hawthorne was found out as possessing Maya, Phoenix and Godot destroyed her testimony of saying that Maya was the killer, which caused her to collapse, and seeing defeat upon the abilities of Mia Fey and Phoenix Wright, she was annialated absolutely, leaving behind a legacy of evil. But it only ended when Godot was found as both Diego Armando and the killer. More patches were added when Iris admitted to being the Dahlia that Phoenix knew 5 years ago.

As for Kristoph, he was a skilled attorney that probably relied on skill alone, like Hammond.
He took the State vs. Enigmar case only because he wanted endless fame, which caused him corruption.
When he was disapproved as Shadi's defense, his greed corrupted into evil, and he decided to destroy the life of whoever replaced him as the defense, which was the very unlucky Phoenix Wright.
He succeeded, and to cover his tracks, he helped Phoenix get out of being sent to prison for his "actions"
Kristoph was continuing to be a great attorney 7 years later, eventually earning the facade of "coolest defense in the West".
When Apollo was to defend Phoenix in Turnabout Trump, Kristoph led him on a fixed track to lies by blaming the witness as the killer, but in the end, Kristoph was found out, and his facade was damaged, sending him to solitary confinement.
About 8 months later, his time bomb went off and killed Drew Misham. Since he was in prison already, he thought he could get away with it, but he didn't count on Phoenix to find out the truth of what went on 7 years ago. When he was brought in as a special witness in State vs. Misham, the true evil was found out, namely his plans and his devil scar, and when it was mentioned that a jury organized by Phoenix Wright was put in, he went berzerk, and the jury convicted him of the Death Sentence (likely)

And so you have a history of the 2 most evil beings in the ace attorney series

Greener, please don't double-post. If you need to add something, just edit your previous post. Though I do understand if it happened by mistake, it's happened to me before.

I don't think they're similar at all. I mean, sure, they're both the 'evil' ones in the games, but it seems a bit of a shallow reason to say that they're the same.

Both games needed a 'villain', and Kristoph and Dahlia are the villains in their respectable games. But if they were similar, Kristoph would have been modelled on Dahlia - similar history, background, personality etc. But if the game designers had done that, there would have been no point in introducing Kristoph as a new character. He would have been exactly the same as Dahlia, and there would be no originality in the character - they would have been better off putting Dahlia in AJ and inventing a far-fetched story as to how and why she was there.

Also, seeing as how the AA games are known for their diverse and original characters, it would have made no sense for Dahlia and Kristoph to be exactly the same.

Yeah; behind people's antisocial or "bad" actions, there's generally a motivation. Might seem trivial to outsiders, but in a lot of cases, there's an emotional affect-- to kill someone is to take a great risk and it's generally easier to "let it go." Dahlia couldn't because the risk to her getting found out was greater; Kristoph's ego and what he assumed was going to be a failproof plan was running the show.

In other words, I don't believe "evil" neccessarily links people any more than "good" does. (I mean, most of us probably don't have criminal records, yet that doesn't mean we have the same motivations and level of self-interest and means of interpreting things.)

I'm now trying to imagine Kristoph as modelled on Dahlia-- acting cute and weak and harmless, crying for sympathy and trying to appeal to people's emotions, flirting in a childlike fashion, pretending to be stupid, and basically going against his sense of dignity. It's amusing.
