Odoroki was told in this case that the judicial system has been changed. Now it is not a one-man decision, he needs to get a unified jury agreement. There is also a test trial for him to practice. (The judge lost his job? @@ )

A famous artist suddenly died during an interview in his studio, police found out that he was poisoned.

The suspect is a young girl named Makoto (19). It is revealed later on she had the same last name as the artist. (Based on the age I guess it is father/daughter)

The witness is a journalist. We get to meet him during a Magic Expo type of event. I so wanted it to be Lotta, but it is another man.

The artist is very good at hiding underpaintings of his works
in unexpected places.

Although he was poisoned, there were no traces of poison found in his studio. All reactions came from a postage stamp. There are chemical reactions, however, found on his mug. An red envelope had also been found and picked up.

The witness suspected it was the coffee. But himself drank it too and did not die. But the coffee mug was the only thing the artist touched during the entire interview.

The victim was seen writing a letter before the interview and seemed to be in panic when the journalist saw him. He thought he was writing his will.

The only person in the studio at that time was the suspect.

There is a hidden picture drawn on the envelope.

(how the artist had died is a given now, so I will leave it up for you guys, lol. )

This case is indeed related to what happened 7 years ago...

So is this a permanent change? Is the Judge completely out of a job, or is it like he's just there to oversee stuff or what?

In every court you have a judge even with a jury. The judges just conduct the trial, while the jury makes the descision. I doubt GS4 will be any different

I only thinking the judge is gone because of Odoroki asked about him, but it is NOT CONFIRMED...this is my own guess and might very well be wrong.

Naruhodo is heavily rumored to use illegal ways to win his cases. However, this is
NOT proven - and that is Garyuu's motive, to prove his legend is not clean. once and for all.

The Ace card is a forged evidence, but right then he is no lawyer, like he said, so I can not see this is a proof that Naruhodo really did anything bad 7 years ago. His words are not reliable.

They may be one office. But, either way, for it was two. (laughs) And he is inheriting the law side. See case 4 title.

Well, you never know. 20 years from now is a nice gap in time, so who's to say the new law could make juries without need for a judge?

I'm going to go with a different choice, and say that the person who died was either Edgeworth or Franziska. They're the only two geniuses Phoenix knows that he could consider a friend, really.

Could he really consider Friska a friend? Yes, she saved him on the eleventh hour twice (i think) but still the whipping and spite.

Case 4 is just giving me the chills. Am I... really ready for the truth? Seriously, I don't want it to be Edgey-boy

Maybe not as much as the others, but he's certainly on more relative grounds with her than most of the non-main characters, from what I've seen. Plus, since she did save him a few times, I think it wouldn't be out of the question to consider that he'd cheat the law to get her killer behind bars, even if it isn't the right way to do so.

The famous artist wouldn't happen to be use Mashisu Tenryuusai as a pen name would he? I certainly hope not...

Forging evidence? Holy crap, that doesn't sound like the Nick we know. Something HUGE must have happened to this "genius".

What if Larry wasn't the famous painter who was the victim...but the GENIUS from 7 years ago whose death caused Phoenix to allegedly forge evidence for? And what if the painter was related to Larry that way (through the art community or something)?!

You never know. Maya supposedly had a following or at least was well known in 2-2. And who knows what could have happened to his art career after the last case in the Phoenix arc? He could have hit it big just before he hit the bricks, so to speak.

Not to mention Larry may not be "intelligent" neccesarilly, but he could be considered an artistic genius later in his years.

It's been said that Garyuu mainly committed the crime in 4-1 so he could expose Phoenix's unlawful/illegal methods to winning cases. Well, what if the "methods" aren't anything physical, but spiritual? I'm speaking, of course, of the Feys and their powers.

Both the ability to summon spirits from the dead, and the Magatama are rather impractical tools Phoenix has used to win cases, and while there were no gripes about him using them in the original trilogy, perhaps he used these powers to get someone convicted in a way that really wouldn't have been possible without those powers. I'm not sure how, but it could be a possibility.

That makes sense to me, and it also explains how he wins so consistently at poker...

Yes, the magatama would be useful. He could tell whether his opponent had a good hand or not, and he could play accordingly.

That's what I figured made him so good at it.

Based on what's been given by Naila (Thank U! <3). I'd say that Edgeworth was the genius most likely--in the case, 7 years ago...

And as for the whole Minuki being Hobohodo's daughter... I somehow speculate that...(Oh god, this is pathetic...) Minuki could be the child of Kaminoga and Mia. ...It's slightly possible! Since Mia and Kaminoga are both dead, they could have left something behind for Phoenix or Maya to foster over... Of course, there are flaws in this speculation... Such as the secrecy of the baby and "How come it wasn't discovered by anyone after Mia or Kaminoga died?"

The only thing, is that for this to happen, Maya would somehow have to be apart of it... But seeing as she has not been spotted yet in case 4... (Maybe there are 5 cases instead of 4?) Anyway. The theory is crack, as of now... :/

but isnt the magatama suppose to react when someone is lying? That is if Phoenix asked them what they had...But why will be caring if he cheated or not?

but yeah, as you mentioned it, there would be the where-and-how-did-you-guys-keep-it-a-secret?! i'm hoping for a case 5 to liven things up. XD; Maya hasn't been spotted in the first half of case 4, so i'm trying to hold on to all hope left. aka thinking up of fanfiction.
