Hey, hope for the best, EXPECT the worst. Personally, I HOPE the whole AJ fiasco is swept under the rug and we get a proper PW game, but I expect Capcom's too stupid and arrogant to admit that *gasp* they're human too, and they made a mistake.

There was never supposed to be a 4th game with Phoenix, 3-5 was a very explicit and permanent ending. That includes GS4. [Especially GS4] So all plot would be about rectifying GS4's ret-coned character development.
Or else they go back in time and have some Mia cases to pad it out. Diego and Sidekick Legal Assistant Phoenix!
People don't 'hate' Apollo, they just tend to think his character is too generic to form significant attachment to and don't think his 'development' is important if it means further injustice on Phoenix's character. It's a matter of priorities. Apollo would have been a fine separate series, but not as one which ret-cons most of GS2 and 3 which were far superior games. Since it's destructive to the previous games, a lot of people would still much rather see Phoenix and the old cast re-rectified.

Essentially, everyone would have to be "downgraded" to their characters as of PWAA 1-5 for AJAA to work with nobody seeming out of character- the idea being that Maya, Edgey, and co would be involved in Nick's life a hell of a lot more than they were in AJAA. Also, I call that the Bella Swan syndrome- when a character is more generic, some people like them more because it's easier to place themselves there. But that's just one theory...

While I agree with this, I don't really see the point. Wouldn't Phoenix just be the same as if he was hobo. Meh, IDK.
Phoenix was wwaaaayyy more generic, IMO.

I dunno, the only thing that irks me in the AJ line is Phoenix's asshole-ish nature compared to his first trilogy.
Otherwise; can we just hope for an AJ sequel that will be an apology for the risk that Capcom took?
