LOL!

Seriously though, Watt Lawson (as suggested by someone before) is a pretty good name of Odo. The victim looks foreign so i'll give him an italian name like Mario Di Angeles

Lawson, although it sounds good, might be a little too silly to use. Watt Lawson: Ace Attorney? Sounds like something from Disney (although I like Watt as name a lot). Aiga

Odoroki Leo Lawson
leo = Lion
housuke = law boy = law son

or possibly

Odoroki Lawrence Schock
Lawrence = obvious
Schock = sounds like shock, surprise. Might be a little hard to spell.

Garyuu Gary Gerard
Gary is just the name I first thought of when I saw him (never mind that Garyuu is his surname)
Gerard = docile, amiable, ready to do or learn.

Kyouya Gene Gerard
Gene = Gene Simmons, rock musician. Also keeps with the alliteration theme of the Garyuus/Gerards

Minuki Don't know, I'll come up with something later.

Spark Law. I can totally imagine Odoroki being called Spark Law.

Spark Law: Ace Attorney

Somehow it fits.

Forgive me if it's been mentioned before, but how about naming the two siblings the Gario brothers?

It sounds similar to their Japanese names, sounds vaguely European, and lets the translation team do lots of 'Super Gario Bros' jokes.

Odoroki Jake Argent
Jake: Sounds young, he IS fresh out law school after all
Argent: From the latin word Argentum for silver, as in having a silver toungue the ability to speak so eloquently you get to convince someone to do something. A trait often found in defense lawyers.
Minuki Clair
obvious. Clair, like clear

Garyuu Kenneth Garrison
Easy, KG same initials plus Garrison sounds similar and Kenneth means handsome
Kyouya Kyle Garrison
Again KG same initials as not only the JP version but the same initials and first name as Kyle
Gass of Tenacious D

Odoroki Justin Reason. I know there was a Justin Case, but "Reason" sounds more lawyerish.

Kyouya Mick Teach. Mick as in the Rolling Stones. Teach is adapted from Garyuu (without dragon) and was also the last name of Blackbeard's real name - Edward Teach.

Garyuu Edward Teach. That's right; attorney by day, pirate by night.

Minuki Ali Dietrich. A combination of two names of female magicians I found in wikipedia. I like the way it sounds though.

I like it alot...
But, here are my suggestions:

Odoroki Iam Finn
Iam= (pronounced ee-em) can be mispronounced as "I am"
Finn= can be confused with "Fine"
Example:
Spoiler: Excerpt from Croik's translated script with alterations
Finn (Odoroki)
"......... G-Good morning!"

? ? ? (Phoenix)
"......................."
"Good morning. I'm counting on you today."

Finn
(...When I'm with him, I can't help but get nervous.)

? ? ?
"..................."

Odoroki
"..................." (Uhhh...awkward...)
Finn
"You must be..."

Finn
"Ah, yes! I'm fine!"

? ? ?
"Yeah...Mr. Fine."

Finn
"Huh?"

? ? ?
"I remembered, because it's such a strange name."

Finn
(I've confused someone already.)
or maybe: Shark Finn <<<-- LOL just wanted to throw this one out
Shark= ref: "Shark" (TV Series); goes with Finn

Minuki Misty Fey LOL Enigma
(Sort of a Wendy Oldbag kind of name. Could also be a stage name)

Kinda throwing ideas out for the following (I don't know if the word I chose is a proper last name, but it starts w/ "G"):
Garyuu Markus Gild
Kyouya Michael Gild
(Gild (v)= he tends to gild the truth ELABORATE, exaggerate, informal: jazz up)

Odoroki Roc Man Light Lawson

..Just browsing on Wikipedia, looked up Phoenix for the hell of it. The Roc is a mytheological bird in I believe Persian culure that is well-known for its hunting of elephants.

Garyuu Aaron Dura, don't really know were it came from just came up.
Minuki Luna Rin, I was think of the moon
Kyouya Axel Dura, comes from Axel Steel

I couldn't think of a last name for Garyuu and Kyouya so I saw a Duracell battery and used the Dura part.

Post subject:  Re: Give English names to GS4 Characters

I think that for Odoroki, it'd be best to follow the Phoenix Wright forumula.

Phoenix isn't much when it comes to puns. However, it has great symbolism, and makes for a product seller.

Wright on the other hand, is almost strictly pun material. Left? Wrong?

Now we have to apply that with Odoroki Hosuoki, or however you write the name. And if possible keep the 'Surprising Lawboy' meaning, and throw in the 'I'm fine' pun.

Justin would be a great first name. Phonetically it starts you off with the rough 'Juh' sound and smooths it out in the end with the ambidexterious 'in' sound which is good as it enables the word to end out on its own, but also transition into the last name if so desired. Justin is derrived from Justice which would fufil the 'Lawboy' segment of Odoroki's name.

Pact, I think would be a great last name. I personally believe that words ending in the 'T' sound make for 'supurb' endings to sentences and phrases where you want to leave a strong impact. This was why when Croik showed me our last site logo, I suggested that we move the word 'art' to the end of the list in our slogan. Now, Pact would be obligated to be the pun name as Justin is the seller name. With pact you can form Impact (Colision or 'Surprise' :: You made quite the impact, Mr. Pact), Packed (As in ready to accept defeat, or ready to move on :: Are you all Packed, Mr. Pact?), or a Pact (Agreement or Treaty :: Mr. Pact, we've made a Pact, let's not back down from it.). This would fufil the 'suprising' aspect of Odoroki's name.

Now, the major flaw with 'Justin Pact' is that there's no way to form the 'I'm fine' pun. But I do recall someone stating that the Exchange could go "I'm Okey-dokey". "Okay Mr. Odoroki." I think it would be quite suitable, insofar as this pun was not used excessivly.

Odoroki Orson Keene - Keen investigative skills and his initals could be used in the joke. O.K.

Garyuu Damien Gordon

Kyouya Darien Gordon

Minuki

Mina Wright - she was adopted by Phoenix

Hmm...

Odoroki - Paul Wilde.

Because Wilde is like Wild and wild is like shocking and it works. Paul's just a generic name that looks like it might be his name. It was almost gonna be Oscar, but that name's already taken.

That's all I got.

Post subject:  Re: Give English names to GS4 Characters

Couple of questions...

What's the big deal with the "I'm fine" pun? Why does it require a certain name? Similar kanji or something?

What does Garyuu mean? Yeah, I'm stupid...

Lawson sounds really silly, I don't think they'll use that. The other problem is getting the puns backwards... Housuke is his first name, Lawson would be his last. Same goes for Watt and Odoroki. Honestly, I think they should use Lawrence as a first name instead. Justin would also work, but NOT with some pun involving his last name. Only for the "justice" meaning being similar to Housuke.

Spoiler: Other names for minor characters
Masaka (waitress from case 1): Trixie Turner
I think her full name "Sakai Masaka" is some pun on trickery and she reveals her true nature later on in the case.

Mugishira (Guy with ramen bowl on his head in Case 2): Raymond Bowl/Bowlers/etc
A pun on Ramen bowl.

That's all I can think of for now.

Odoroki Jude Vine.
Vine can obviously be used in the "Fine" joke, whilst Jude can be short for Judiciary, giving the name a law connection.

Why is everyone trying so hard with the "I'm fine" pun? "Daijoubu" sounds nothing like Odoroki. Phoenix just got it confused because Odoroki said "Daijoubu desu!" a lot.

All I can come with for Odoroki is Matt Hawke. Just cause I think birds could be a theme for the starring lawyers. Besides, some of the best lawyers have bird-themed names

PHOENIX Wright
Harvey BIRDman
Atticus FINCH
Denny CRANE

And by golly one day they'll discover the Matlock bird!

Post subject:  Re: Give English names to GS4 Characters

All I could come up with was:

Eagle Lawson

Eagles are known for their great eyesight, which I thought would be good for the new Minuku system, and would continue using birds as the main defense's first name. Lawson would quite litterally be a translation of his last name, and would tie him in with the judicial system.

Another far worse one I came up with was:

Osprey Kosher (blah)

That's because Osprey have good vision as well, are sometimes called "Seahawks" (hawks would also have good vision) and that is for the Minuku system. Kosher is slang for lawful. His initials would be used for the pun (I'm OK, etc.) but that last name could lead to complaints concerning religion. That and it doesn't sound like a name anybody would give to their children.

Post subject:  Re: Give English names to GS4 Characters

Here's some more I've thought up for the minor chars...

Spoiler:
Kawadzu (the scholar guy): Burt Verne - A pun on pervert since he is a panty thief. Plus a pun on Jules Verne to make him look smart.

Maki Tobayu: Ashley Key - A pun on ascii since that's the way she talks. I don't think it's ascii, put it's some type of characters.

Romain Retasu: Roman Letzus - Still trying to keep the romaine lettuce pun while trying to make it sound like some quirky name.
