Ahh, the Fräulein detective, keeper of the mini-games, holder of the bag that contains an improbably large quanity of Snackoos!
I really liked he in this game, she made a much more fun Gumshoe then she did a Maya, not to mention to she how much she’s changed over the years. She’s really high up in my favorite characters for Apollo Justice, so this topic is dedicated to her, and her younger equally scientific self!

But I kind of feel bad for her, she really seems to love that sort of thing, but doesn’t have the talent for it that she’s required to have to get a job in that area. I mean, she is in a position where she still has to spend her own money to get a lot of the tools she needs, when quite honestly, they’re actually very important to solving the case.

I don't know exactly but my friend who is in forensics says that she doesn't have the due care that forensic investigators would have. True, she's a freaking
I was surprised in how much she's changed but yeah, she still have her childish tendencies such as throwing Snackroos at Apollo :P

Young Ema fandom is welcome here as well, I might have to fix the first post to clarify that, I just posted it the way I did because it needed to be here so both incarnations and if it was left too vague I was worried it would cause problems about it should be in the defendant’s lobby, however I seemed to have caused to opposite problem.
(edit: there we go, hopefully it's better thing way)One other thing I should clear up, I liked her in Rise from the Ashes as well, I just didn't like her as the fill in for Maya, it felt quite forced to me (although it was an excuse for her to hang around more.)

Even more surprising, was that I liked her more than Gumshoe. Yeah sorry to all the Gumshoe fans but personally I wasn't as fond of him as the many other fans do (don't get me wrong, I still like him just probably in the middle or something).
Though I'd like to see an instance where Ema helps Apollo out of a dramatic situations (like Gumshoe did with Phoenix), it would be intersting.

I don't know what it is, but something about her really irritates me.

Ahh, I'll give you that she can seem pretty bratty and childish, but that's part of what we like about her, it makes her fun to be around (or at least have the characters be around her)!
But you are entitled to your opinion about her, I’m not going to do anything more then Snackoo you for it!

On a note related to that picture, thanks to Ema’s CR profile, I was able to find out what it was that they Americanized Snackoos from, and a quick Google search turned up a recipe!
Hmm, they seem to be kind of like mini elephant ears (or maybe it’s the other way around), sadly it’s like 10:30 here, so I’ve yet to make them, but they look good!

Something that always caught me about Ema is her age in 1-5.
I found this a strange thing to say. Who goes out of their way to say something like that? Perhaps it's only because I've been guilty of the same myself, but I suspect she's trying to appear older by avoiding to state her actual age. (You know how women can be about age :P)
Consider this: she's a high school junior at the age of 15. She either started school very early, or skipped a grade. Considering her "academic" nature, it's probably the latter. Quite a bit of pressure for one so young, no? I wonder what her social life is like, being something of an oddity in school - not like it matters, however, as she leaves for Europe that same year. (This makes more sense in the Japanese version as, at 16, she would have some of the same freedoms an American 18-year-old would have. In the American localisation, however, her age makes her out of place.)
And with her older sister jailed for what I would think is a considerably good long time, who's going to be taking care of her? Under foreign law, she might have adult status, but I can't imagine an American, in good conscience, letting a teenager travel the world on their own. If Ema were to finish her junior year in America before moving to Europe, she would need a legal guardian. Where's an adult with enough time, energy, and money to fill that role?
Jake Marshall would seem the obvious choice. He has previous connections with the Skye sisters (albeit hinted at), and has a stable job. After 1-5, he may very well be in a position to move up from being a patrolman. However, it seems unlikely that he could accompany Ema to Europe for her education abroad.
Note that I assume a host family isn't involved in Ema's education. It may be probable that one might be secured beforehand, but my family has been host to travelling students before, and to my knowledge such arrangements aren't prepared more than half a year beforehand. So the next best candidate would be someone who fulfills the assumed requisite of flexibility in living space, someone with assets both in America and Europe. A certain fucshia-clad gentleman comes to mind.
Miles Edgeworth is in a good position for this, as Lana Skye has worked with him over the past two years and is probably more familiar with his attitudes than she is with Jake's at this point in the timeline. Even with his doubts and moral issues to contend with after 1-5, his noble performance in court gives no reason to think him an evil or unstable man. What's more, with him leaving prosecution, he should have enough time and energy to devote to raising a teenager (if such amounts of time and energy existed). Consider also the fact he is probably loaded, being part of the Von Karma estate (nasty bright red sports car, anyone?), which also includes assets in at least Germany.
And where does Miles disappear to for about a year's time after 1-5? That's right... "abroad." But where else would he have reason to go aside from his adopted home in Germany? Thus, Miles has the added advantage of keeping the obsequious Ema under close watch and in good hands as they travel together.
I'll stop there, as going any further delves into pure fanatical theory (there is a difference between wild extrapolation and inane rationalization).

A lot of people complain about how grouchy Ema is now in AJ, but at least she had reasons for it, and there was an easy way to get her out of it. All you had to do was mention something scientific and she brightened right up. And she wasn't really mean or anything either, I found her quite entertaining. I love her character design too, she's proof that you can design a character very attractively without low-cut or otherwise revealing clothing.

Anyway, Ema's one of my favorite characters. I find the way she interacts with Gavin absolutely hilarious, and the series needed a happy detecive after Gumshoe's preformance in T&T.

Her personality change from 1-5 made her seem like her own unique character, not to mention that people just change over time.
