Did anyone else get annoyed with how overconfident and cocky Phoenix was in his last trial? I mean, he spent 3 games learning that winning isn't everything and that experience and records don't matter if you aren't fighting for the truth- then he gets all arrogant and says things like "there's no substitute for experience." and "there seems to be a new one every year" (about Klavier). That really annoyed me. I mean, I felt like the Phoenix character was completely destroyed- he's supposed to do the right thing- not be a wannabe Pw1 Edgeworth. I'm almost glad that Klavier brought him down to Earth by destroying him- I mean, I guess Mia was wrong when she said "Phoenix will save everyone" at the end of the third game... Edit- I think "disappointed" is the best word I can use to describe my feelings toward Phoenix in that trial. |

In all fairness, Klavier was being pretty cocky as well, if I remember. Didn't Kristoph tell him to not give Phoenix any respect whatsoever? |

Not really. The only thing I felt for Phoenix was immense sympathy. I mean suppose he was a bit overconfident in the trial, but to be fair there is always a new "genius" prosecutor every year and a perfect decisive witnesses at every trial. They both always crumble under cross-examination. Besides, as Lord Seth pointed out, Klavier was being rather obnoxious from the start and I think that Phoenix was partly responding to that. And since when does being a bit cocky (which Phoenix can be at times even in the previous games. I recall in 2-2, that Phoenix rubs his victory in Franziska's face as just one example of his cockiness in previous games), suddenly turn him into the bad guy? He was trying to do the right thing with the evidence and knowledge he had available to him, which wasn't much. He's not really overly concerned with victory for the sake of victory, but he wants to win to protect his client for both his client's sake as well as Trucy's (made very clear before you start the trial). He actually seemed to be the happiest right before the judge was about to break for the day so that he could actually try some investigation and find out what happened so that he could find the truth. Phoenix then puts the final nail in his own coffin when he confesses to the forging in an desperate attempt to protect Zak, which I think is very in character for him. |

I have to admit it did surprise me more or less. I mean, he didn't say anything like rookie or experience the first time he met  , then why did he say so when  came to his first trail? The only reason I can work out is looked like a singer rather than a serious prosecutor and Nick didn't like his style.Anyway it was just a surprise, not that annoying.

Don't forget that Klavier was 17 or so (that's almost ten years younger than Phoenix was), so it's understandable that he'd see that kid as being a little too cocky for a new prosecutor (18 year old Franziska is excused because she's a Von Karma so that automatically makes her scary to anyone). |

Hmm, I don't think age would be a kind of thing bother Nick too much, in any case he knew Franny became a prosecutor when she was 13. I just feel he might though Klavier should had taken his job more seriously. |
